Happy Belated birthday Alec! While I'd love a more mature gravity falls, I don't think Disney would ever do anything along the lines of Junji Ito. I would love to see it aimed towards teens. Age up the twins a little, maybe make them travel around a little. I mean, the grunkles and twins RV across country and meet up with the mothman at some point? I have faith that they could make a slightly older audience aimed show work. Also your bet video: you need the Loser t-shirt and sing the Stan Wrong Song.
This episode was great! Happy belated birthday Alec! It was sweet to hear Lu got the Book of Bill for his own birthday too. I'm not too convinced that Gravity Falls is coming back, but after hearing that there's gonna be an announcement of some sort in December, my hopes and interest have been piqued!! Can't wait to see what comes of it if anything, but until then be well.
It does feel like there should be more, but Alex Hirsch does have some words for Disney that I understand he might have reservations to working with them again 😂

It also does wanna protct its dreepy friends when fighting alongside them. We do see Husk protecting Angel and the others during the battles Vaggie Galade:Its a pokemon that uses blades and is noble like her Ceruledge:A knight pokemon that uses blades. Also could represent the dark nature as an exorcist Vaggie had Armarogue:While not using blades, it is a knight pokemon that represents Vaggie's valor Mamoswine:Idk I feel Mamoswine just fits her. She could ride it into battle Gardevoir:Gardevoir also fits Vaggie, and could have a relationship with Charlie's Delphox her ace Mega Absol Alastor Spiritomb, Spiritomb is a collection of souls. Alastor owns a lot of those Gengar, Al has a lot to do with shadows, gengar is the shadow pokemon Trevanant, it fits his woody vibes his room gives off Zoroark, Its a pokemon that shapeshifts but also uses shadows Grimmsnarl, we see Alastor summon a lot of imp/gremlin like creatures, so Grimmsnarl is one His ace marshadow, again because his use of shadows
First off, this conversation about Fantasia was great and so interesting, and second Happy belated birthday Lu! As an additional note, an episode diving into Kingdom Hearts would be amazing and so cool!!
I say, The Dance of the Hours is my favorite segment, is just so... looney. And I think you guys should cover the sequence, because I think is very underated.
Happy Belated Birthday Lu! Night on Bald Mountain was a clip of animation that I loved and was afraid of at the same time when I was a kid. I saw the clip years before I ever saw the full fantasia movie because it was featured in a made for TV special where Walt talked about music in animation. It also had a deleted scene from Snow White in it about the Dwarves washing their hands before getting to eat. I would also love to watch a live Fantasia show. that would be really cool. I'm not sure I'd want to live in any of the worlds in fantasia. If I had to choose, I guess maybe Pastoral's mythology setting, but only because I do love some classic mythology. Night on Bald Mountain is my favorite segment still, but too spoopy to live in it.
Also have to add that the problematic sections of the pastoral scene was removed before it's re-release to theatres in 1969, which is why most people don't remember ever seeing it. But also fun fact about the editing in that scene: the centaurs were topless originally, but Disney was told it couldn't be released like that, and they had to go back and reanimate it with the flowers covering them. Also, sadly because of how sound was stored in film, the music recording degraded so much over the years that they couldn't restore the sound for the 1980s theatre release, and had to re-record the music for the nutcracker suit and Night on Bald mountain sections. Some nitpicky people say that the mushroom sequence doesn't line up correctly anymore. I personally can't tell.
Stolas is the one who's made everything pretty damn hypersexual honestly... when Blitz has a panic attack in Seeing Stars, the only comfort Stolas can give him is "you're good at sex". Stolas doesn't actually love Blitz, he loves the idea of Blitz. He offered Blitz the choice to stay or go, and got upset when he didn't get an immediate yes. Frankly, with the actions Stolas has done throughout the series, I find him the more toxic one between him and Blitz because Stolas forced a transactional relationship for at least several months. No amount of crying and sad songs can undo what is essentially coerced sex with someone who really didn't want it. They're definitely gonna get back together at some point... but I don't think they should.
I also drew a blank - after a LOT of investigation - on the supposed Nobel citation when I was conducting the research for "Setting The Scene: The Art & Evolution of Animation Layout" - for which the Doheny Memorial Library allowed me access to their amazing collection of original MGM Cartoons pencil Layout artwork. Thanks, guys for bringing both animated shorts back into the spotlight! We need all the anti-military-industrial-complex animation we can get.....
