@@alexasunshine83One time I was in the purse section and two teen boys walked by and said, "I hope they don't sell underwear here." I COULD NOT help myself and I said, "They do, it's the rack around the corner." They turned red 😂
My attention was LOCKED on that satin brown skirt. I have been looking for brown midi and maxi skirts for sooooo long and I just found one this weekend but the one you held up was EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for 💔
Now I’m finally at the end. I think you did a great job for the aesthetic. Especially since you also tried finding pieces that you potentially would wear in your own style. 👍🏻
You should start these themed videos with shopping in your closet, showing the Pinterest inspo, and then going to the thrift store to get what you need to complete the look
I think you got the “Old Money” style to a “T”! All of the outfits are amazing, but the blue suit is to die for. Let me know when you get tired of it and are ready to sell it. I want it! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Loved this video !! Especially the fact that you REALLY tried to stick to the aesthetic, even though your personal style shone through the final outfits (and it made me giggle because it's too cute !). Lots of love from France !
I spent last week in corporate wear running workshops, and by day 3 I switched to sneakers for the rest of the week. Yes I was standing so it was comfort mostly - but I actually thought it looked great.
Alexa! You looked SO CHIC and 100% yourself. I LOVE that you added your own twist to the outfits. The blue suit with the baby tee. Sleek hair and a fun hair accessory. Perfect! That's how it's supposed to be. What I love most about this video is your use of a specific word. POWERFUL! We should feel powerful, beautiful, fantastic, outstanding, the list goes on, in our clothes. 10 out of 10 Alexa. Great job!
I love all the outifts you've put together, Alexa! IMO it's very important to thrift the things you would actually wear, and the blue set is ungodly beautiful on you!! Also I was chuckling at you picking all the "cute Alexa things" and then putting them back, haha! But can we actually ban the name "old money aesthetic" already? Promoting the generational wealth is serious cringe IMO. I'm not wealthy! I'm a generational broke ass b***h! Why would I want to cosplay as some young pretty nepo baby? Let's get back to calling this aesthetic "elevated basics" or "lady Di inspired" or, I dunno, "successioncore", at least?
I would like to call it CEO off duty. Good quality but too busy to be fussy, and can be old or new money. Like, Steve Jobs could afford a lot, but kept it simple to focus on business.
I think generational wealth isn't bad - it's just the systematic barriers that keep minorities from being able to access generational wealth... Also the exclusionary and aloof demeanor that has traditionally been displayed by those with generational wealth. We all love Princess Diana because she didn't have this attitude even though she did have generational wealth. I think it's ok for parents to set up their children for financial security but not at the cost of everyone else and the ecosystem.
That suit set is a crazy find and fits you so well! I do not think you looked like a server in the your second outfit haha I think it worked really well!!
You in that suit and kinda all the outfits reminds me of Christina Applegate in Don't tell mom the babysitters dead when she's dressing for le office lol 💙
The blue suit looks killer on you! This aesthetic is really similar to what was referred to in the 90’s as “Sloan Ranger”. Think Princess Diana as the poster child of Sloan Ranger.
I think part of what made this extra challenging is that the old money aesthetic specifically is about flaunting disposal income/wealth by wearing kind of unwearable, one-off/never-repeated, dry-clean-only type pieces, which really sprouted resistance against your more sustainability-oriented mindset of long-term wearability and overall styling flexibility. You look really awesome in the pieces you picked out so it isn't really a problem of looking or posturing a certain "old money" way or anything, but the aesthetic probably felt really out of your comfort zone because the long term wearability of the pieces weighed heavily on your mind. This was a super thoughtprovoking thrift with me! Thank you for sharing, Alexa.
Old money aesthetic is when you wear outfits that give the impression that you’re rich without the brand names. So I think outfit 2 and 4 are kinda in that category. You did alright! I’m curious as to why you didn’t even search the button up men section you would’ve found some nice Polos there
I did! Just didn't see anything I loved! Also the polos I found I didn't love, definitely would have made more sense though and would have paired nicely with the pieces I already have! I was just being so indecisive 😭
The blue suit SUITED 😊😊😊you so well and compliments your eyes and figure! I could see how confident you felt wearing it!! I loved the grey trousers cardigan and baby tee look too because I love grey menswear so much !! Great job
The white and blue suits definitely looked good on you. So glad you picked one. I've been around real old money and the suit fits it perfectly. It fits you perfectly, too.
When you got nervious because there where teens in the store...girl, I felt hard that social anxiety 😂😂 Btw, I like how you styled everything, but I prefer to see you in a more casual style 😺
I think you were going for the word sophisticated! That blue suit is amazing on you! You need to wear more blue, it absolutely brings you to life. It is so fun to watch you discover new ways to wear things!
I wonder if the first two looks might look more “old money” if they were a little more undone. So, the belt or the fancy shoes, the white top with the shorts being more unbuttoned and possible wearing a baseball hat. But! Choosing pieces you like and feeling good in what you wear, that is always more important than matching a style *peRfEctly. You’re styling was so fun! Thank you for sharing!
My favorite pair of jeans I've ever owned were vintage light wash Union Bays but I got too big for them (they were always a little bit of a tighter fit) and I'm so sad I had to donate them. Those Union Bays you found bring back memories :')
I’m so glad you got the blue suit. I even like how the blazer looked with the outfit you were wearing in the thrift store: graphic tee, shorts and cowboy boots, not old money aesthetic but a lewkkk
In the 90s I had two oversized women’s blazers, the trend then, that I interchanged when I went into what passes near me for “the city.” One was red plaid, and one, black plaid. I wore them with a black turtle neck and black jeans and felt so put together.
wow that blue suit is amazing! i think just wearing the pants without the blazer would make it more casual and you could wear the pants more in every day lfie
The second outfit with the black shorts were perfect! you nailed it! You don’t look like a server you look like you have a trust fund! The blue suit is amazing!
