At your age you should be packing as much in as you possibly can while you are young and have your physical health and energy. You never know what is going to happen tomorrow, and so making the most of things today is vital. Being able to do a job that you love, also at your age is a blessing, because the majority of us don't get to do that. When I was 18 I got an opportunity to do the sort of thing you're doing now, working at someone's yard as my job. However, it didn't work out for various reasons and I've regretted that ever since. My life would have been very much different otherwise. After that, I had to wait until I was 53 to be able to do a job that I wanted. I was working for a living from age 15 and it wasn't til I was in my fifties that I finally was able to start my own business doing what I love. Now, I'm a couple of years past the age of retirement but I'm actually just about to expand my business. My only regret is that I didn't simply go for it when I was younger because I was too afraid to take the risk. So, my advice is go for it, take risks and do what you can to follow your dreams.
This is posted on the eve of me taking a big risk to start new job which will help me create a lifestyle I want, in my mid 30s. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this! ❤
Dear Han, it takes courage to make life changes. You have it! Smile to yourself as often as possible! This will give you the strength to act. Enjoy life every day!
Just bought the book on Kindle! Looking forward to reading it. 🙂 Thanks, Han!! And all my digits are crossed for Affie's rehab. Slow and steady wins that race!
I think it is wonderful you are doing several different jobs that you enjoy. I have worked 'freelance' in my field for over 20 years, and I never regret that I don't have a 'career' at one company/organization/government agency. I work with all those types of clients, just not for them as a traditional-type employee. You have a wonderful ability to help others with jobs they need help with and to support them while you are doing it. (Thinking of how you help Meg as a groom but being there supporting her as a friend and helping her relax at stressful events.) If I didn't live over the other side of the world, I'd love to hire you to walk my dog if I couldn't! There is no-one I can trust to ask to help. I can't take a vacation because I'd have to put him in a boarding kennel but he'd be terrified. I can't get him used to the staff because they only walk boarded dogs, not other dogs. Hah, hah, being a wedding planner is a bit like being a groom/nanny/dog walker, but you are organizing and supporting a bride and her partner instead. But honestly, I am much more nervous about finding a good person to help with my pets than I was about my wedding😊 Don't let anyone ever say you don't have a career.
Han, I absolutely love watching your channel, never doubt yourself, your such a lovely person and so funny, your pony is so lucky having you as mummy, I’ve had an Arab which I loved her so much, complete nutter but so loving, then a welsh mountain pony, and looked after a shire and an event horse which was like riding a steam train but so much fun. So keep doing what you do babes and love you and megs together your hilarious and have each others back, love you girl, Ann xxx
Thanks for this video- good for you for doing what you love. Grooming at shows and events on the weekends is fun too. When you are at the “office” are you working on scheduling or is that another job? Love your vlog and best of luck with Affie. ❤🤞
Nanny Hanny ❤ great life change - like others have said best time to do it whilst you’re young. Work doesn’t have to define you can just fund what you love! X
Don't blame you for changing jobs .Horses are more rewarding than people as they take us for ourselves. I've done virtually the same work as you only in reverse order and want to go back to horses. Well done Han.
Oh Han this is great! I did the same thing after my husband passed away. Best 2 years of my life. Unfortunately, I had to go back to the 7-3:30 grind because I was a single mom and needed more money. ❤ I'm hoping that someday I can go back to just working with horses!
This is rather random - but oh your hair is fabulous Han! It looked so lovely when you sat at your desk ☺Also I'm sure you were great at both jobs in the police - they were lucky to have you. Not sure how you coped with custody - must have been horrendous!
Loved this video and you have got me thinking about getting a part time job with horses, along side my main job. Also I have 2 young daughters and the school run but hey I can manage all that….yeah lol xx
Those arenas at the first yard are beautiful! Also Dave is such a brilliant name for a horse 😂love it Definitely be careful with burn out, it can catch you up quickly! Pleased that you’re able to start rehab with Affie that’s fantastic news 😊
Bought the book on Kindle and loving it!! I've been looking for a good horsey novel for ages...exactly like you said, I don't want to put it down! Hopefully Lucy Ann Huxter will write more 🤞☺️
Also...well done for following your dreams! I sometimes wonder how different my life would be if I'd chosen horses, of course I wouldn't change my life now as a granny with a non-horsey career but I do wonder. All the very best 💕
I don’t know if you have ever read Steven bartletts books but they are really inspiring (diary of a CEO guy). In one of the books he talks about how we often get stuck by the label of a job/job title like “lawyer” but in actual fact we are so many more things than just that job and we could be sharing our skills across many different industries. I think when you open your mind like that it opens doors you never knew existed! Continue doing what you enjoy for as long as you can 😊 Also so pleased for you that Affie is back in work 🤞🏼
