Here's my two cents: no stack needed. Their deck. They shuffle. 100% hands off. I'd go as far as to say, that even using Zoom, this would fly. If this method gets well executed, you will certainly get almost a "miracle". But, how?! (You might wonder)... sounds too good to be true. Bare with me: Short answer: PRESENTATION. You can stop reading here, if you understood. Further answer: if you're going to use Magician's Choice anyways, do it ALL the way (why the **** not to?! You'll end up in such technique, one way or another, ANYWAYS; unless you use an Invisible Deck, but that makes it more about moves, than a beautiful mental phenomena effect; unless you don't mind, and want to take a gimmicky route, which I humbly consider, strays away from the beauty of its creation: mind mental atmosphere). Make them spread the cards to see all the crazy mix they've made, right before they put it back into the box; while this adds to your presentation if well ruse it (yes: ruse, and not use), you peek at any pair of cards (just one pair) located at the middle (or even anywhere, really), and then you use Magician's Choice ALL.the.way for both cards. You only need to know clearly where you're going, like a shark (pair of cards memorized by peek), and you need to know clearly what you're doing (a smooth but killer equivocate that runs like clear water; this requires practice and practice by yourself, hope this doesn't scare you lol). It is possible to force single cards using equivocate. Pardon my repetiveness, but it's worth it: it is possible to force any single card using Magician's Choice (I've done it, and they've done it to me, and I've seen it)... it is not for everyone, it is certainly not easy, but some performers can pull that off cleverly. A properly and flawless, well executed Magician's Choice would get rid of any stack, use their deck, EVERYTHING. You would only need to use your... words. If you like challenges, consider this an option. I can almost warrant you, that it will not be easy, but definetely, almost a true miracle (please notice I say almost!). P.D.: my comment was not intended to convince anyone, but to open the door of this possibility to be considered. Joshua Jay and Max Maven (RIP), can certainly point you more, in the right equivocate direction.

@@AMillionCardTricks thank you for your comment. Please, pardon my push back, but I'm eager to keep learning and seeing different perspectives, especially from magicians well minded like yourself. It is not sweet talk; I've followed you're channel, and it's great to see you back again. If I may ask you, and please be blatantly honest: what down sides or negatives, except by the level of difficulty on the showmanship, do you find in this method? Anyone else is also free to answer this. Thank you in advance.
@AMillionCardTricks

@@you_dont_wanna_know1969 In all honesty I think you have laid out a very solid idea. I would say that this trick would actually work better over zoom rather than in person. The reason for this being the justification of showing the cards to the camera is a much more natural way to look at and take note of the order of the cards. Also, it being over zoom, you wouldn’t even have to memorize cards. You could instead peek a pair and quickly write them down on a paper next to you after peeking. That way you will be way more relaxed and not stress about forgetting cards. The only downside with this method being performed live would be that it doesn’t seem entirely hands off. In other words, the way that I’ve taught it here has the cards in the box for the entire trick. A solution to this would be doing multiple tricks in a set, and doing a few other tricks in between performing this one. Finish a trick, and note the order of 2 cards. Have the spectator put the cards in the box and tell them to put it aside for now. Move on to another effect, something using coins, phones, etc. After a trick or two, remember the pair that you are memorizing, and now you can perform the trick seemingly entirely hands off without touching the deck. And the spectators will confirm that the deck was indeed shuffled!

As another way of presenting this amazing routine, I'd be choosing only one random pair and would be placing these two cards next to each other face down. Only two cards prepared into a full deck of cards which soon will be selected by a proper patter..(In my routines, I prefer giving a reference from the TV series called Sherlock and his "Mind Palace" method he actually uses for a different purpose. Therefore I amaze the chosen spectator by being included in such a beautiful imagination experience) Based on my experience, I strongly recommend you two fellow magicians to try that way to perform that incredible mentalism routine.😁

Just use the invisible deck to locate one of the spectator’s cards and then do shapeshifter change to find the other. Too much magicians choice and then it’s easy to realize that the untouched deck will have black odd cards next to red even cards. In your performance I forgot if it was 10 of spades or hearts, but it was easy to see that both 3’s and 10’s were next to each other.

I get what you’re saying, there are definitely faster and more efficient ways to perform this trick. And that goes for any card trick. Although the invisible deck is amazing and a very useful tool, I prefer using a normal deck whenever possible. The way I teach this one allows for you to be entirely hands off which people will remember. The end reveal that I have is a subtle yet natural looking reveal, doing any color changes or something flashy would not relate to the overall message or story of this trick, plus that just looks more “magician-y” which I’m trying to stray away from. I take inspiration from magicians like Ollie Mealing and Christian Grace who develop their effects around these meaningful plots and presentations where the end reveals feel natural but have a degree of impossibility. That is what I was trying to accomplish with this trick. But thank you for the comment nonetheless :)

To make it even smoother, I would suggest first finding out which one of the two spectators are more skeptical, or just more attentive and aware in general. It's easier if you present it to friends or family. But in case of strangers, you can present it at a later stage of the show where you already have a hunch based on their behavior, or just have some small talk with them, ask some innocent questions, to gauge this aspect. And then have the more skeptical (or more attentive) spectator be the first one, because the first one has a much more fair choice, and it also lowers the risk of the second spectator spotting any inconsistencies.

Man... This is a really really amazing trick, beautiful too. Though I personally use the twist of 2 people that have great connections with each others already like a couple or close friends, best friends for years because apparently for 2 strangers, somehow it doesn't impact as much. Also, is it possible for you to make a top 10 (or top 5) personal favourite deck, in term of design or handling or overall or whatever, curious to see your pick for decks.

Great Trick! I was never a big fan of Magician’s Choice. It only seems appropriate when it’s one person and one question. This trick showed how it can be used not only for more than one question but more than one person. I wonder why when asking the questions to person one, person two is not in another room. This way person two will not be influenced by person’s one answers. Person one should be in another room when person two is selecting a card. Obviously person one cannot be influenced but this way person one does not know how person two got to his card. If there are other people watching you still have to follow the way you describe Magician’s Choice.
@AMillionCardTricks
@AMillionCardTricks Год назад
Thanks for the comment! If you wish to perform it with the spectators leaving the room then by all means go ahead. I just feel like that would 1. take away some time from the trick and make it longer, and 2. detract from the “shared experience” factor that I use in my presentation. I don’t think having both spectators present during both selections makes the magicians choice any less effective. One thing that I could’ve added in the video was this little idea: Have the spectators tell you what they do for work or what their favorite hobby is, and use that hobby to frame the selection process. For example, if someone enjoys painting, have the selection process be choosing red paint or black paint, and then imagine them painting a heart or diamond, etc. If someone is a chef, imagine the cards as different items in a recipe and frame the selection process that way. This could be difficult as you would have to improvise these new selection processes on the spot, but it would mask any nuances between the two spectators doing different actions while making the trick even more personal to each of them!

How do they choose their cards if the cards all stay in the box? Separating the deck into two colors separates the stacked pairs. This really needs an actual performance.

@AMillionCardTricks Год назад
Sorry I should have clarified this better. The cards do stay in the box for the entire trick, the selection process is done verbally as you see here. You tell the spectators to imagine they’re holding invisible cards. I did mention this at 2:29 but it went by very fast.

@@AMillionCardTricks I do hands-off Tarot tricks in classic parlor situations. I can use this. Except my box is made of mahogany. They can even take the cards out of the box themselves, since I teach them a basic fan for another trick. Very few tricks involving suits translate into Tarot decks because of the lack of black and red colors. We are limited to the male suits, sticks and swords, and the female suits, cups and pentangles.
