The Beast is probably one of the most unsettling depictions of Satan in a children's show. He doesn't attack people like some horror movie monster, he just calmly, quietly, waits for them to come to him. He doesn't have to kill them, he just lies to them and persuades them to just give up. It should also be noted that some of the show is inspired by Dante's Inferno, and that the Beast's true form is a reference to the second ring of the seventh circle of Hell, where those who killed themselves are transformed into thorny trees and tormented by harpies for all eternity, and they can only speak when in pain.
heard this cover, listened to the original, discovered and watched the miniseries, then came back here and now it hits even harder than before. amazing cover Billy, extremely passionate and powerful
all the episodes combined are like just under 2 hours it is such an underrated gem highly suggest its like alice in wonderland but good and more gnomey and emotional
lyrics: Come, wayward souls And wander through the darkness There is a light for the lost and the meek Sorrow and fear are easily forgotten When you submit to the soil of the earth Grow, tiny seed You are called to the trees Rise 'til your leaves fill the sky Until your sighs fill the air in the night Lift your mighty limbs And give praise to the fire #leechlife
Damn. I'm anticipating that this November is gonna be the most stressful month of my life, and I'm gonna watch Over the Garden Wall again with my family when I get home today. Thanks for the cover. I needed it
I really did not think I would like this (I think OTGW's sountrack is perfect already), but now I'm super curious how you would reinterpret the whole thing!
Can you make a cover where the entire song is of the same style as the beginning? Kinda melancholy, but not quite dark, that was perfect imo. Edit: After listening to this song another 20 times, I realized that it's good the way it is.
Lyrics... I guess #leechlife Come wayward souls That wander through the darkness There is a light for the lost and the meek Sorrow and fear are easily forgotten When you submit to the soil of the earth Grow, tiny seed You are called to the trees Rise till your leaves fill the sky Until your sighs fill the air in the night Lift your mighty limbs And give praise to the fire
