Great review as usual 👏 but £850 for that !!! It's gonna struggle with other guns in that price range..

@bigdansairguns83 2 года назад
To be fair from a quality/build/performance standpoint it stacks up incredibly well against them. I wouldn't say an AA couldn't match the group that we got from the Lynx but it'd very much struggle to be any better. Most also won't give a lifetime warranty, the main thing that lets it down in my eyes is that it doesn't have an AA/BSA/Weihrauch badge which is rather unfair.

When you were saying about it being a Spanish-R10 I was looking and seeing hints of Goldstar (away from the bottle obviously before somebody says the latter is a cylinder gun.) They did a nice blue stained one at some time too.

Hi Dean. You're welcome mate. The main issue with Cometa is that despite the fact they're far older than any of the mainline air rifle manufacturers around today they're still a little bit obscure. This is the main reason why I'm trying to put them into the limelight a tad as they're genuinely fantastically made airguns. The Lynx is more expensive at £850 but considering the warranty, build and the performance on tap I'd gladly put it up against any rifle maybe even up to the £2000 mark especially considering what it can do down range. Longwater rifle club in Norfolk have really fallen in love with Cometa and many have sold their HW's because they find the Cometa's genuinely shoot better. You can't get better praise than that! I'm tempted to do a shootoff video maybe between a HW100 and a Lynx (maybe even the cheaper Orion) to show just how good these Spanish guns really are. Plus it'd be interesting to see the difference between the Cometa and Weihrauch barrel in regards to accuracy/pellet fussiness.

Hi Graham! I can see where you're coming from. I think it's because you can see that the Lynx while still "pretty" is very much a working PCP like the Rapid. The fact it comes with sling studs and a smaller bottle option to make it more bearable when lugging it across the fields is a great sign that she isn't a cabinet queen like some. Thanks Graham!

Descent looking rifle , and quite accurate anawl . Its got fierce competition in that price bracket , wiehrauch's / R10's / AA's to name a few , only time will tell ... the advantage is , its a bit " different " , but one thing I dont like , is the part of the stock thats by the neck of the bottle , looks a bit flimsy , could do with shaping down .. matter of fact , I spent a lot of the time whilst watching the vid , figuring out what I'd do if i owned it ... as usual , a really excellent and in depth review .. BRILLIANT stuff ..
@bigdansairguns83
@bigdansairguns83 2 года назад
Thanks Mark! I don't think anyone can complain about the performance of the rifle. Regarding the stock down to the bottle it's actually still quite chunky in reality but the camera might not have caught it too well. It's enough to put a bipod stud there I'll put it that way. I'd love to do a shoot off between the Cometa's and the HW100's,AA's. Could be interesting.

@@bigdansairguns83 Dan , a shoot off would be an excellent idea , ideally a shoot off that will fill at least an hour , could watch your show for hours , far better then ANY. **** thats on telly . Think we're on different tracks with the stock .. I meant the " wings " for want of a better word , that stick up either side of the neck of bottle , could do with shaping down .. well I think so , I am aware ( after 36 yrs of marriage ) that I'm not always right though , and my opinion is worth less then shovel full of dog dung ..

£850 for a "buddy bottle" gun is not that expensive, OK more than Hatsan or Krall *but* a similar price to a BSA R10 and *cheaper* than Daystate or FX etc. Its a nice looking gun, a bit like the old Theoben Rapids were
@bigdansairguns83
@bigdansairguns83 2 года назад
Hey Baz! Yeah, it's definitely more "up there" but in comparison to other rifles it's not wickedly expensive. I know I sound like a conspiracy theorist now but I can't help but feel that if it had a different badge people would be diving on it. In other reviews I've had comments such as "if a better brand made it then sure". What? These guys are older than almost all other airgun manufacturers and give a lifetime warranty yet other brands are better? I just don't get it.

Hi Dan, another cracking review, loved that comment, "A friendly stripper that lets you look and touch" cracked me up that one, used my AA S400 and my AA TX200 at the range, had AA Diablo 8.4 in the S400 and JSB 8.44 in the TX and the TX had the better group at 35 yards, PCP V Springer.
@bigdansairguns83
@bigdansairguns83 2 года назад
Hi Lynden! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I keep saying it buddy you can't beat a good springer. AA/JSB pellets etc are excellent but I just find that lately there's been so many duff pellets in the tin that you don't get a fair assessment of the rifle's consistency through the chrono. I know they're heavy but have you tried HN Baracuda through the S410? The uncle's one (admittedly .22) loves them! Thanks Lynden!

I have that kinda luck with oddly Daisy Hollow Points in .22. Not the same in .177 though. I have had many many tins of Daisy Hollow Points in .22 out shoot JSB and H&N in many of my FAC rated .22 caliber PCPs out to 70 yards. Yep…Amazon fulfilled my order and I got several tins for about 13$ per 500. They cut a clean hole in the paper and have a FPS range between 550-920 FPS very accurately out to 70 yards +. On critters… Wow…that R rated . Thing kinda “POP” real loud and come apart. Doesn’t sound logical for a cheaper pellet. Promise! Consistent in weight and shape and crazy accurate for a basically online pellet. My first SK-19 .22 caliber loved them as did my ATI Liberty/Alpha, Bandit, Gauntlet, and my Crown. Don’t know what else to say bud. Underrated. and never mentioned which I truly think is odd considering most of us have shot a Daisy. We shoot Crosmans all the time and most are steel hard and inconsistent yet they get mentioned a lot on most channels. Not these? They are different. At least in .22 . I hope to see these on your channel soon. You may have you mind blown. Honestly.

I have a Kral Puncher Knight and is loves the JSBs but I'm thinking of going back to using the RWS as they are better made! Hey Michael! The budget gear is seriously impressive these days. The main thing the Lynx has over them is the quality of the materials and the overall refinement. Plus the lifetime warranty is something that none of the big brands offer to my knowledge at least here in the UK. The main thing it's lacking is a big badge, it's a bit unfair but if it had an FX or AA badge people would be far more accepting.

Many thx Big Dan, great review again, apart from too much wind mucking up accuracy (once more).. Has the looks of a head turning pole dancer.... But indeed a few "strings attached": for that buxom price, how many mags does one get? They should have made the butt pad adjustable and added a single shot adapter.... Is there a dust cover on the filling port ? Or only a menopause type nipple there? How solid are those vulnerable wooden edges and corners around the manometer? Overall length is how much? Could not hear brand of sielencer and scope...... Cometa brand name is a bit underrated yes. Heard often about their really good barrels. Looking forward to a second test and that V10 indeed!
@bigdansairguns83
@bigdansairguns83 2 года назад
Hey Hendrick! The fill probe uses a nipple type cover and you only get one mag. Single shot trays can be bought for the Lynx but to be honest they've designed the breech in a way that you can easily hand load the pellets straight in. The stock surrounding the manometer is actually very nicely made. I'd actually argue that the manometer itself is actually more protected than most brands that leave it exposed sitting outside of the action where it can be caught/snagged etc. The silencer as mentioned in the video is Cometa's own model that come with the rifle and the scope is the Konus Empire as mentioned in the handling section. That being said I'll add the scope on test to the start of each video too. It's got a higher price than the other rifles which definitely needs to be considered when looking at one. That being said it does offer a lifetime warranty which is a massive bonus. The overall performance/accuracy and build quality is easily up there with the £1000 rifles in my opinion.

@@hendrickotto103 That's only a 200cc bottle in the model tested here it's the V10 version of the Lynx that has the 500cc monster. You might check for all purposes its working pressure - might be too high. Even for 200 cc shot count it is very low.... Beautiful gun really. I love hunting PCP airguns bud. Very nice gun. I wish the laws were different in your country brother. 12 FPE will indeed get the job done but so limited compared to FAC. I feel they/parliament/government are so strict with pellet/bb guns. Whatever…hate politics to be fair, and can’t do anything about that crap. Damn I really wish I could send my LCS Air Arms SK-19 .25 FAC to you…you wouldn’t send it back let alone…shipping would beat the gun to pieces in transit to say the least. I’m not sure you can even have this platform in the UK. Full auto is seldom used to be fair. Semi on the other hand…magnificent to be honest brother. I don’t know UK laws as I said. I hope to see your review on one someday. You won’t send it back for sure. Yes the trigger isn’t what you would call match grade, but is quickly learnable, and very savvy. Hi Heath! I'd absolutely love to have a play with that SK19 what a monster! Full auto is a no-no here and unfortunately it seems like semi-auto is going a similar route. Companies like Steyr originally worked around it by having the rifles fire the pellets from the mag and not the breech so they're effectively "self indexing" more than semi-auto. Unfortunately the government is also beginning to crack down on these as well. The only rifles that can be semi-auto is mainly the Co2 gear with non-rifled barrels. Great fun but the pellet ends up going god knows where. Heath we both know buddy that your SK19 would have me smiling like a Cheshire cat! Taking it off of me is what might be the issue haha. What did it do before having it tuned, my r10’s have never given BSA’s advertised shotcount

Hey Roy. The shot count is definitely lower than expected so I don't know what sort of setup Cometa has running in there. I will say there's almost zero hammer bounce so the only thing I can think of is that it's severely choked with a heavy ol' spring. That being said when it comes to consistency for an unmolested rifle it doesn't get much better than that! I'm really interested to see what the Lynx V10 can do. Cheers Roy.

Hi Liz. I've not really experienced this with RWS although it can happen with any manufacturer it seems. I'd always put the RWS/H&N pellets as some of the more consistent pellets in regards to construction and definitely weight. The new Eley Tenex pellets are interesting as they're packaged like rimfire rounds. In a box/tub with different compartments and a foam "roof". I can't wait to test them!

Looks like the RM8

There's a definite resemblance there isn't there? The Lynx is a much more neutrally balanced and lighter feeling rifle in the shoulder though. It's actually really interesting how a rifle with such similar dimensions can feel so different. ....That being said I actually quite like the weight of the Rotex!

Hey Yeti! It's a pricier rifle for sure but you can definitely see where the money is spent. It's a silky smooth operator and that accuracy would put most to shame. Cheers Yeti!

I quite like it as it favours a working tool more than a cabinet/range queen. I think the larger bottled V10 is the better looking of the two however.

Bottle guns aren't my thing to be honest but I actually quite liked this one. If you think it looks bad in the video take a look at some stock images online... Woof!!
