I recon it is a OBD interfacing device since that's what car manufacturers are impelementing on their cars. Some how I dont quite like the idea of using a esp8266 as a car interface controller since it needs a pretty stable power source or it would crash randomly, which is not something u would want to happen when driving on a freeway.
