Don't route the cables infront of the air bag unless you want them to whip across the cabin if it goes off. Remove the A pillar trim and route behind the air bag.
@Notorious B.I.G. The way they're doing it, the cable goes from the roof trim, across the side airbag and into the weather trim. I came here to say this. You should route behind the airbag and ziptie it to the plastic tabs the wires inside attach to, or if you're too lazy at least go to the bottom of the A-pillar trim before wrapping around where there isn't any airbag.
The GoPro mount the adhesive will weaken in the summertime and the, comma 2 will fall from the windshield it's too heavy for the mount sorry George love the product
I had one. It is great when it works. Mine overheated due to a component failure and so it sits in my drawer. It will cost $500 for a replacement head or $1200 for a new unit with 1 year warranty. Do I recommend it? Yeah...kind of. It is great. Not having to steer is really nice. Works way better than a Tesla auto pilot. But because it broke a year and a month from purchase...it is not covered under warranty. YMMV but it ends up costing me around a hundred a month to use it. Will I get it replaced with either a non warranty replacement head for $500? Not sure yet.
Is installing Openpilot any different? And also will running the ethernet cable along the side like that affect the side airbags? Might finally consider buying now that the system has been so streamlined.
Comma.ai is the hardware. Openpilot is the software you install on the Comma.ai after you buy it but BEFORE you install it. Openpilot isn't install on stock comma.ai due to legal/liability concerns. Installation of Openpilot onto the comma.ai requires a computer. There's videos on RU-vid showing how its done.
There is any chance to replace the original Stereo of the car with some Android 11 Stereo Car, attach a good camera and install this software? instead of having that smartphone blocking the vision?
I just received my comma two today for my 2017 Prius prime and drive 200 miles already, Great stuff! It ping pongs a little and got a little motion sickness at times. Lol. It also leans toward left more then Centered. Should I adjust placement on windshield such as make it higher or more centered to left? Otherwise works well so far. Impressive stuff and highly recommend.
Did you do anything special to calibrate it to keep center in lane? Mine doesn’t even ping pong. It will not stay within the lane and constantly asks me to take control of the steering to keep in centered.
Does ist work for every car with an OBD interface or only for special models? And can any camera be used or are those special cameras already mounted in the car?
I wonder how many people actually waits 24 to 48 hours to let the adhesive cure before trying it out. 😉 I suppose one could attach the device to the mounting just long enough for a calibration and "test drive," and then remove it to let the adhesive cure without the weight of the Comma 2 device. But I find it hard to believe most people don't want to, at least, give it a try and verify that it works properly within minutes after installing it.

Doubt the Jeep Grand Cherokee will ever be supported. The car list (Google it) is dominated by Toyotas and Hondas. Besides your car needs to have factory ACC and factory LKA for this to even work properly. No OEM ACC or LKA then you can't use this for semi-autonomous driving
Cool concept but it just won't be competition to other self driving cars like Tesla. People are lazy and they don't want to go through all that installation hassle
It's probably the same as what's shown in this video because they are using a Honda Civic. The ACC/LKA system in the Accord is likely exactly the same.

@@LetitDrive Well a regular obd2 has 12v output between pin 16 and pin 4,5. I don't think that is the reason why comma does obd-c. Moreover it is not a standard like obd2 or 1. I was thinking the cable is just a conversion from obd2 to usb-c in which case is it is not obd-c but obd2 to usb-c. I mean if it was conversion to usb- micro would it make obd-b-micro?

No because the windshield mount is permanent. With comma.ai 1 the permanent mount was a tiny GoPro mount and the EON (the smartphone looking thing that mounts to windshield) was removable. With comma.ai 2 not sure if the EON is removable but from this video doesn't seem to be removable. Regardless of comma.ai 1 or 2, a permanent windshield mount is required.
@@xuimod It's similar to the old GoPro mount, but it is harder to remove. I have been able to remove it by using a hairdryer and slowly prying it off with a credit card and keeping backup 3m tape with me to put back on the plastic piece. You need to be careful or else you'll break the mount as it's a 3D print.
VirtuallyChris I wonder if I just used 3M tape or something similar (and never peeled off the original adhesive backing) if I could make the camera mount more temporary. And if so would that solve my problem and I could just make sure to rent Toyota Carollas and it would all work out.
@@evanmoyle Yeah it uses 3M tape, could maybe use some more temporary tape such as command strips behind the 3D printed mount for temporary installation on rental cars.
It just detects the lines and the car ahead of you. If a car going the opposite way veers into your lane I'm pretty sure it won't take evasive measures. It will probably just flash red and say you must take over. But I use this system on 2 way roads all the time. This system greatly reduces the stress of driving but you still have to be aware. When this system is engaged its like you are babysitting the car. Once you are familiar with situations this system often fails, its easy to properly babysit this system.
I asked George Hotz this and he said "if you have roads in the UK, then it will work". But I was referring to the training data being based on USA roads, will it cope with different lane markings etc. He didn't respond.
