@@imfresh7979 Sickening Dreams says "deals X damage to each creature and each player." There's no priority or targeting individual players, it all happens simultaneously. So, the game would draw as every player's life total goes to 0 at the same time. Then state-based action as each player loses at the same time, hence a draw.
@@vyx2966 He dies first though, as the Active Player then all of the Non-Active Players in Turn Order, but since it all occurs simultaneously it will still end in a draw.
@@FriarPop shit like this is glorious to see in a pod, once in a while. It forces you to think about lines you could possibly use to stop it, and how one might seek to find solutions flexible enough to not just be an exercise in paranoia. It also presents itself as a way to find novel utility in cards, or building restrictions, that you might be able to apply elsewhere.
@@andrewamann2821 this comander can get so much worse, taferis puzzle box results in everyone else discarding their hands, and you tutoring each turn, play Opposition Agent and you get to use their cards.
if you add a glacial chasm you can prevent the damage that would be dealt to you so you don't die while your opponents do. Also, Varragoth bloodsky sire is an alternative that can get only you the card you want, and finally if you cast ad nauseam at your opponent's end step right before your turn 6, you can finish this earlier since you only discard to hand size at your own end step. I made this deck (with varragoth) and it's quite funny when it works
You can also add Dark Sphere as a 0 mana artifact as way to go off on the turn you cast Ad Nauseum and prevent the damage to yourself from Sickening Dreams. Also has the benefit of not requiring a land drop!
Ah yes this deck. Remember folks just because it’s mostly lands you should still bring it sleeved up. Thats usually the first tell and people see it from a mile away
@@mrosskne the one person I heard of that brought this to me LGS didn't bring it sleeved. he was under the impression that since its just basics he didn't have to. the table he got was a bunch of veteran players that had a feeling they knew what the deck was when they saw the commander. this kinda deck has been around for awhile, in fact there's a mono blue version
I like that the actual price of the three card deck is also roughly $25 including the lands. I am tempted to make this lol though I know it doesn’t work
you can add a glacial chasm to protect yourself, add the dark ritual for an early chance, and buy 100 random swamps for just 1,5 cents a piece card market shows me a price of 6,50 without shipping, or 15€ with shipping. i might wanna add Urborg and Yavimaya to give the Glacial chasm an extra chance on producing mana and a sol ring, mana crypt and mana vault though. just for the off chance of comboing sooner, and those wont add to much life for the add nausium.
@@aidanwright If you have more life than all your other opponents, then you just discard enough cards to kill them but not you. That’s what they were saying.
This deck has a really good chance to win the first time, but as soon as your friends know what happens, that commander is dead the moment she gets out there. Funny deck idea though lol
i play this commander for the jank factor, and its true people actually, really choose NOT to remove her so they can keep tutoring, EVEN THOUGH everybody else gets to keep tutoring too. also people never tutor for lands and end up running low on mana its pure comedy
You can do a similar thing with Maelstrom Wanderer, Omnath Locus of Rage, and Risen Reef. On turn 8 you cascade cascade and get both Omnom and Risen Reef, then play just about every land in your deck and get elementals for each one
I used wanderer to get Jace, wielder of thoracle and cultivator colossus, with 90 or sow lands and, like, several 8-9 drops that can be used early on, like magma opusand shit like that
Hey I remember this. This is a oooold deck. It's usually 96 swamps so you use wooden sphere to not die. But this also works I guess. Also faster than using Divine Intervention, also cheaper.
I'm sorry not wooden sphere its dark sphere. "Dark Sphere" from "The Dark". It cuts effect damage in half by sacrificing it. It also costs 0. It's a colorless artifact.
here's what you do, you play Varagoth as your commander. you run EVERY 0 and X cast artifact and creature you can but what you'll need is Dark Sphere and Busaju who shelters all. If you can/want feel free to run the rituals and Tendrils of Agony. Depending on your access to the "fast mana rocks" your going to Busaju cast Ad naus on the previous players turn, pick up your whole deck except a few cards. Then proceed to your turn, make sure Dark Sphere is cast on the battlefield, then depending on how you feel you can cast all the 0's and X's for 0 to storm up to cast Tendrils of Agony and unless somehow someone did Whirlwind of denial or flusterstorm your good to just Boseju cast Sickening Dreams and just discard whatever else you have you should have double or triple the life of the next highest life total player. Pro tip, since Varragoth puts the card you tutored on top of your library run all the lands that has cycling and if you want to run all the 1 cmc cards that has either "draw a card" or cycling but not the sorcery ones. Yes, this deck requires you to attack why do you ask? Access Tunnel and Rogues Passage. If you really feel you need to run Theives Tools.
This was my first commander deck and I no joke thought it would be fun because I have been playing standard my whole 11 year old life leading up to this. So I killed my pod except one guy who saved himself and then immediately killed me, and I remember being so bummed out that I lost.
100% recommend adding dark sphere to the combo, so you just play the dark sphere before the sickening dreams, crack it and you take half damage from the dreams.
It still kills you too though. EDH has 40 LP and you’re discarding 80 something cards. I guess you don’t have to discard your entire hand but it’s funnier if you do.

@@supreme_king_obama1158 you discard 40 cards off sickening dreams, everyone will take 40 but the dark sphere will make you take half that sources damage. Assuming nobody has gained any life, you have 21 life before the dreams resolves, and assuming no other incidental sources of instant speed damage can happen you win. But that's the Nature of these mono black ad nauseum decks, they are glass cannons. They can win games easily assuming everyone at the table allows you to go off.
@@supreme_king_obama1158 The fact that it's only 3 cards, 4 counting dark sphere. The deck is what realistically less than 10 bucks. I built a varragoth deck just like this but my build runs 84 swamps and 16 other cards, almost all of which are 1 mana or less. I think it has like 3 cards at 2 mana and ad nauseum. It's a fun janky deck that can definitely surprise your friends, I wouldn't take mine to locals as everyone knows to hold up counter magic for ad nauseum.
ey i love your videos funny af, i saw the color combo video and noticed I was subbed already. checked liked and this popped up. i have the cards so ran it a few times with buddies with mediocre sucess ahaha. great idea though, was mad fun to see the reactions. content has gotten way better with the jimmy bit. keep it up, hope you make it homie
Replace some of the swamp with land that give you life, and bam if no one attacked you you probably have more life than anyone, allowing you to win instead of gettting a draw. This is actually really cool.
@@taemyr You are also the guy who’s been sitting in the corner doing nothing but playing swamps. The rest of the people there(assuming they do not know your deck) will probably either a) feel bad for you or b) realize that the guy just playing swamps is probably not a threat.
@@Cheerwine091 Indeed- but if I have a creature that does something when it attacks (lifelink, vigiliance, 'draw a card' etc.) they they tend to be taking a few punches. In my playgroup at least everyone seems to have cards that benefit from turning sideways so even you you just chill in the corner you'll take a couple of small hits. But yeah you have a decent chance of being at the most life... at least the first time you play the deck. The second time they'll just make you play a different deck as the best case scenario for your opponents is that the game ends in an automatic draw- all attacking does is make the Swamp player unable to win. Honestly i've been trying to build spiteful decks that aim to have a commander game end in a tie within 20 minutes so I can say 'just one game of commander then we can play modern okay?' for those days I built a new modern deck and want to try it out.
Even if nobody at the table has a counter spell or a removal, all other players will get to tutor for something before you, so there's like 99% chance you're not going to have your commander around at your next turn's draw phase.
I don't even play Magic, and I have very basic understanding of the game's mechanics, but I was very intrigued when I saw a deck with 97 lands in it. This sounds like something I'd definitely use to fuck with people if I did play Magic.
I built a deck like this except it uses skirge familiar and exsanguinate instead of sickening dreams. My deck costed $20 back before opposition agent was a thing
Seriously considering to make this my first commander deck. Thank you. I am gonna save the video and then tomorrow go to my local store to see if they have the cards
hello mate, if you have your heart set on this deck then go for it but I wouldn't recommend it as a first commander deck. I think you'll find the games to be quite samey and people will start tutoring for removal/counter spells after the first game with it. but that's just my opinion. have fun commandering!
this commander can get so much worse, taferis puzzle box results in everyone else discarding their hands, and you tutoring each turn, play Opposition Agent and you get to use their cards. however i wouldnt recommend doing this some local game stores hate stuff like this, its always better to play fair no one likes wasting time.
I had (have) an ashling the pilgrim deck that’s 97 mountains, a sol ring and mana crypt (proxied) and a soul of windgrace with 33 forests, mountains and swamps. Thanks for making a better version of those deck. You know, because yours actually has a win con!
Maelstrom wanderer, omnath locus of rage, and risen reef. while slightly more expensive than this, the 85~90 5/5 elementals with haste on turn 8 can be comedic
This has been around for years; you can find versions of this list usually called £70something EDH list ect (not that cheap anymore just a product of its time name) runs from 3 to 10 unique non swamp cards. 10/10 Fun deck build a second Maralen deck and swap between the 2 for maximum mind games.
It's cheaper now. Just built it for $40 (mp-lp). The only big ticket item was the commander and she was still only $20. If you have enough swamps, it shouldnt put you above $50 now if you add dark sphere as a wincon.
Im glad i found this deck cause I sometimes play with this sweaty dude at my LCS. Youre playing a precon hes playing fluffy bunnies or some other cedh deck. Throwing opposition agent in it so he scoops every game like the big baby he is.
Ah yes the classic murder all players at the same time, this was the strategy of my Heartless Hidetsugu deck. I ran it once and drew the game by giving every player including myself 40 ish poison counters. When asked if the deck had a real win condition I simply replied "no". That deck was promptly dismantled and never played again because nobody would let me kill the table for giggles. I also made a deck once with Ruhan of the Fomori as the commander that was purely based on Grip of Chaos with ways to tutor it out. That one resulted in a 3 hour 4 player game where I won by forfeit. For some reason, I can't imagine why people don't like randomly selected targets when cards like Confusion in the Ranks, possibility storm and pandemonium are in play...
In the typical version of the list you're running Elixir of immortality to recycle. This deck also only works once per play group. Once they know what it is you're burnt
Can you put the deck list in the description with a link to tcg with your affiliate link so I can support the channel. 3 is a lot of cards to remember it would really help.
I'm building this deck, but adding glacial chasm into the mix. Sure it is no longer a 97 swap deck, but still has only 97 lands. Should be fun to see the reactions of my friends lol
@@iansamuel1811 not a bad idea, although I might add Conqueror's Flail to the mix. Probably pick up/add boseiju at a later time. Conquers Flail might be the only other card added, if added. Both would make this a really good combo to insure the main combo goes off.
@@666bluegreen just to be clear, nothing about this combo is "really good" but if youre tryna do it, do it right. conquerers flail can be countered, incomparable to boseiju which protects ad naus and dreams as long as you eot naus and main phase dreams
Yeah that was what I was thinking on how to play it. I could drop the flail, but I don't think it is needed. I think the only card that would be countered once someone knows what is happening would be dreams. Being that it would be early game Ad would just be ignored when first played. I would definitely play ad at the end step, and then have fun just to see what type of reactions I get
