Commencal Meta Power SX Race Ride Review: Forgiving, Fast, and Fun 

I have the Essential build (38, float x, slx drivetrain) and its a great "bargain" at $5400 right now. I was worried it would be too much bike, but man was I wrong. It does everything great. Yes it's heavy but you don't even notice it on trail. This bike is so confidence inspiring, I ride it non-stop.

I just picked up the SX Essential and have been extremely impressed with the bike. I was concerned about the longer reach and chain stay, but can report that once on the bike, they are not as noticeable. It really takes some speed to get it to perform, but once at speed, it is very lively and composed. At slow speeds, it is not very playful, likely due to the weight and chainstay. If you are a hard charger and gravity rider, you will love this rig. I am between 5.11 and 6' and went for a Large.

Great video and great bike! I would put myself in the intermediate category and did the same thing you just did, went down to the SoCal Commencal shop and test rode the race build. First time on an EMTB and ended up buying the Essential model. Don't forget you can apply that rental price to your purchase there so it's like a free rental/trial if you end up buying one! The TRP brakes were AMAZING and the biggest miss for me from the race build to the essential build, but the brakes on the essential build are still a significant upgrade from my acoustic MTBs so I am happy. I let the shop put mine together and literally rode it from the showroom at purchase to the trails and was immediately comfortable on this bike. These bikes shred!

Good video, but It'd be nice if you went over some important info since it's an ebike: What's the battery size? Is it integrated, or can you remove the battery? Room for a battery extender? Expected battery life when riding? Is there an app that can allow you to fine tune the assistance and power levels? How are the electronic controls? Weight? Warranty? How does the motor feel on each assistance level while pedaling (torque)? I'm in the market for an ebike. Every bit of info helps

I wish Spank sold a bar with similar numbers to the PNW Loam bar with 5° upsweep and 10° backsweep. Love the vibration damping on my Virbocore bar, but not the up and backsweep. Great review 😎
