Hi
This week we are going back a few month to the Amiga CD32 where we changed 2 caps to see if it would boot any faster
and it did 24hrs after it booted great . But then when left for a few months it was back to the same issue.
The link is below if you want to watch that one and its strip down ..
This time we are going to replace all the capacitors and replace the lazer and see if its good as new again .
Thanks for watching ..
Please drop me a comment I always reply ..
1st Video strip down and replace the 2 power caps to see if the booting issue goes away.

Thank you SRG .. Altho i must say heat gun or tweezer iron are the best way to remove them .. Cutting can still damge the pads .heat gun can damage the layers on a mulit layer boards .. :)

Glad it’s up and running again. I had to change the psu in mine to get it read as well as recap and laser lol 😂. Enjoyed it well done

RE the snipping method: this technique works great but I would caution against snipping as low as possible. If you think about it, snipping right at the bottom of the cap will have a tendency to lever up at the pads and potentially yank them away from the PCB. If you snip a bit closer to the middle of the can there's less force on the pads and you can still easily pick apart the remains of the cap with tweezers.

Oh I have the same booting issue on mine, but it's been recapped. :/ lol. My laser is fine though which is good. Great work :)

@@8BitRetroReFix PSU is a brand new one and it does the same on an origami. It behaves fine when naked oddly. Meh I'm happy letting it warm up 🤣

@@005AGIMA strange .. My mate has one that it wont read discs correctly unless a good psu is used ..

Definitely a fan of the snip-snip! Those replacement lasers, are they expensive/hard to get?

Snip Snip has its risks the best way would be to use a tweezer iron :) .. The laser is easy to pick up .. I bought mine from Fleabay .. Thanks for watch Tim :)

@@8BitRetroReFix I haven't learned how to solder yet, but I'm guessing caps which have leaked electrolytic, then the pads underneath are going to be more brittle and prone to lifting under pressure. Is that what happened that you needed the bodge wire, if so would a gently gently approach using the tweezer iron have made any difference?

@@uberdude2555 Hi . Quite possibly .. Altho they was quite corroded .. The lower cap pad fell off while cleaning with ipa and cotton bud .. Tweezers could have made a slight difference . But its very hard to tell.. if you've not done anything like this before. i would strongly suggest a tweezer iron .. Thanks for watching :)
