Alright mate, used this to replicate a similar setup on a Monaro over here in the UK. Just bleeding the system now, this pump is LOUD! Does it ever stop climbing in pitch as it sounds like it's going to take off 😂
Only came accross this recently. Looking to do a similar mod myself. Thanks for the tips. btw - What/where did you get your radiator expansion tank. That looks very neat.
Not having a dig at ya but if your relocating your battery to the boot you should have placed the bottle under the battery tray then you could have sat the bottle a little higher and used a hole saw so the filler cap sits up in the bay for easy access and also plumbed the hoses to the cooler slot shorter and the power and earth would have been alot closer to your power supply. Just my 2 Bob's worth 👍when I fitted my engine oil cooler and thermo I had to move my power steering cooler back closer to the a/c and cut both ends and flared them to run the new cooler hoses. Arhh the things we do with our cars lol
Cheers man all good, I just wanted to run shortest amount of high pressure hose as possible to eliminate the possibility of future rub thru and failures, I'm moving the battery to also accommodate the inter cooler piping, catch cans, and my windscreen washer bottle.
I done this conversion, filled with fluid ( staged my trigger/ signal wires for instant pump pressure) if you join the signal wires then the pump will slowly climb to pressure. Anyways found the fitting that screws into the pump to be leaking 🤦♂️looks like ill be dropping the oil and checking if i nicked the o-ring and will throw some thread sealant on
Any chance you know if the Astra power steering pumps 2006 or later will still work? I've heard some electric power steerings requiring a CAN BUS but I'm not sure if that applies to the 2006+ pumps
@@AussieAuto Thanks for the reply. Is there a way to tell if my pump is requires the can bus or not? Wire colors, model year etc? My pump is from a 2008 Astra and the pump I have looks exactly like yours. I could wire it up to test on/off functions but have no idea if that proves it does or does not need the canbus...if it powers on, would that be enough to tell me it does not require the canbus? I didn't see any sort of CAN BUS box when I pulled the pump but I could be wrong =(
Any chance of helping me with the conversation I could pay you for your time as well and I need to do it ASAP as my power steering pumps leaking. What area you in?
