man i wish i still lived in illinois, i would have brought my car to ur shop. i'm trying to find a competent shop near albany NY

Thank you I appreciate it. I know it’s really tough up in New York. There’s a lot of shops but not all of them are quality there is a guy up there called South Main Auto. You might want to check them out. He’s actually really good and also has a RU-vid channel.

I had a rattle , and i noticed my Dampner was bent, ,the rubber/cylinder mounted on the exhaust pipe after the catalytic converter, i bent it back and rattle went away

Thanks for the video! Apologies for the stupid question but a heat shield under my car (approx under the driver seat) is rattling. Is that anywhere close to the fuel tank or can I take it off? I'm in the UK close to the sea and everything rusts pretty quickly here as well!

It’s really hard to say, cause I don’t know what kind of vehicle you have. Some cars have fuel lines on the left side some have them on the right side depends on the manufacturing. I would definitely get up underneath there and take a look and see what you’re working with.

i just got my catalytic converter replaced and now it’s rattling, i took it back to the shop and everytime i get it back nothing changes. what should i tell the mechanic since the shop i’m going to is the one with my dealer?

If it’s rattling they should be able to verify and fix the issue under warranty if it’s the catalytic converter

Great video - what is the name of that part of the exhaust if I wanted to replace my heat shield? (Mine rusted off)

If you have a similar thing like the one in the video, the only way you can get that shield is by buying a new catalytic converter assembly. Typically if they rust off just take them off and the car is fine without any issues.

Not typically unless it protects a gas tank

I usually do it as a courtesy during oil change but if a customer comes and complaining of rattling, I just charge an inspection fee which is usually $30

If you’re looking to buy the shield itself, usually only through the Dealer

@@TheEnthusiastMechanicdo I have a 2011 Nissian Sentra and I went to the dealer they told me the beat shield was loose, but they want to charge me 500 for the parts and labors😭 do you recommend anywhere I should buy it from or should I order the hat shield on my on from the dealership website and have a mechanic do it

@@jamesmendoza1753 personally you don’t need the heat shield, most cars here in Illinois don’t even have them

There are no spare parts in car. Heat shield is there for a reason. Car manufacturers would never put any on the car that is not needed.

I completely agree with you they don’t put on spare parts that you don’t need but at the end of the day in the Midwest when salt eats everything away you can’t really replace everything otherwise you might as well go buy a new car.
