My bike’s handling is pretty neutral, but if I’m riding hard I find myself having to hold the bars in place to stay in track. Is that just the case when turning at high speed, or should I be concerned?
It'll take more effort to initiate a turn at higher speeds since you have to overcome the increased gyroscopic forces of the wheels, but once turned the bike should track as normal.
You just saved me a trip to a mechanic, literally. I have wobble and right pulling. Knowing what to check and might have to take care of or repair, thank you. I am now hooked and will definitely be coming back for more videos. A million thanks not only from me but also my cruiser. Love your shop, too. Neat, clean and well laid out.
hey Ari, Could you do a video on the funky paralever suspension systems like on some BMW's and the new goldwing? How they benefit comfort, handeling, steering feel or geometry?
On BMW's its called Telelever, I had a 2012 BMW R1200R naked bike with it. It doesn't get as impacted by bumps and uneven road surfaces as a regular fork setup but it also doesn't have as great a feel of what the bike is doing as well as a regular setup. It worked great on my R1200R though.
My 2500km old bike is swaying to right very hard upon leaving the handlebar. My company guys claim there is not problem and just grease the handle bearings. My 13 year old suzuki with fully worn tyre runs straight for heavens sake! What do you suggest people? Is it the coneset? No fall as of yet.
You guys make really informative videos that have been helping me a lot recently. I just binged through all your videos. Also if possible can u guys look at a new beginner bike released in India called Apache RR 310 would love to know your thoughts on it. Anyway keep up the good work guys.
MC Garage was made for binge watching! We don't get the Apache RR here in the US, but if we get a chance to ride one when we're overseas, you can rest assured we'll do a video on it.
Ari Henning Thanks for taking the time to reply dude I am a beginner and currently riding a 125 cc. I want to have the pleasure of riding a proper sports bike so asking you was a no brainer to me. Anyway thanks for taking the time to read the comments and helping the community have a Good day Sir!!
If you crashed and the handling feels weird afterwards, get the chassis, the entire fork assembly, the entire swingarm assembly, the engine mounts(and the engine itself), rims, tires and everything else. Even a deformation on a Deltabox(TM) frame in the order of millimeters can cause bad handling, the worst, could induce another crash. Stay safe guys!
Bought a Motion Pro chain alignment tool. Never though I'll buy one (fancy thing), and used a precision ruler to align the wheel. The new tool arrived and I'd buy it again. Thanks for you Ari and MM/MC Garage guys too!
Hi Ari, with this video you guys have just become my favourite YT channel! YOU ARE THE BEST! With reference to handling let me bring my contribution based on my personal experience (28 years riding this year): 1. Tyres get unevenly worn (flat in their center) and lead to stability problems, just like ari said. Solution is never let them wear too unevenly, for this reason try avoiding riding more than 200 miles on motorways (straight), adapt the tyre pressure when you load a passenger. If the tyre is becoming flat you can try carefully riding a bit sportier and gently lean down in order to progressively smoothen the profile. 80miles this way should be enough if the tyre condition is not too bad. 2. Always take a good and well stored and mantained pressure gauge with you, or rely on those at a tyre workshop, don't trust that much in gauges at gas stations, since they are often mistreated and they can be unreliable. 3. If your bike feels hard to corner or unstable into the curves, than carefully check your suspensions' sag: the wrong trim is the king of problems when dealing with motorcycle handling. This is pretty a delicate matter and I would tremendously like that Ari makes a video on this. 3 bis. If you have bought a second hand motorbike then it is possible that the previous owner has tweaked/tampered something, for example he could have slid the forks up or down. Carefully ask him to detail what was done (changed springs, oil or something) and restore the stock setting (find them in owner manual or refer to your local dealer), in order to start from a well known starting point. Since this point was defined by the manufacturer...then it can not be so far from the optimal setting. 4. HAVE FUN.
Need to know the real Reason of front wheel wobling issue when I reach about speed of 60km/h my handle bar starts to wobble after reaching 80km/h it settles
My Honda CBR 250R, when not holding both the handlebars starts to lean towards the right side. The tires are new, rightly inflated. Recently checked the alignment too. Thank you.
My bike handle bar is shaking/vibrating on speeds 50-60 KM/H, my front tire was deflated so I inflated to the proper pressure, unfortunately the vibration increased! It’s a brand new bike! What else could be the issue ? Many thanks
wobble motorcycle sometime balance is the problem! For higher cc if you get top speed and starts to wobble hold tight makes straight and add more speed but if it makes more problem you need to slow down and stop just feel it! I never ride Superbike just lower cc for drug race small body and tires! but before i drive testing and checking motorcycle if condition is good balance i tried second to 3rd gear the handle bar starts to wobble i just tight my grip and force handle bar to make straight the line add more speed! but i think big bike like Ducati is different
The other day I went to hop on my dirt bike and the Handle bars were stiff/ stuck at first, but I just gave it a little push and it broke loose. Also All of a sudden my bike started feeling wobbly and like it doesn’t wanna lean in corners or turn well, along with the handle bars just feeling weird. Would this be the steering bearings or what?
Front wheel bounce?? Between 80/100kph my front tyre starts that vibrate/bounce. New tyre, is good. RIm run out 0.2, within spec. Steering head bearings replaced Any ideas???
I need help, my Honda cb400 super four when I freehand or I ride around 60-90km/h I can feel my front wheel wobble. I just recently change my tires and wheel bearings, I just don’t know what’s the cause hmmm🤔 can someone help me out?
Hey guys. I could use some help. I have recently started riding 1997 BMW f 650 St (my first bike). But when im cornering i can feel some woblbing. Not much, but still. I was doing some research and I have found that the wobbling can be caused by my knobby tyres (TKC 80). Is that true?
I just feeling the motorcycle before i ride it! The handle bar bearings balance and tires! If i feel in the speed and the handle starts slow wobble i reduce speed but if i feel speeding and handlebar is going to straight i will add more! Most of the wobble problem suspension and tires need balance of the motorcycle before riding! I'm not mechanics but i ride drug race once if you start wobble add more tight pressure straight to the handlebar and add speed but if get worst you need to slow!
Hi I have a 2017 FZ09. I added a handle bar type steering damper that swings with the steering. I own a service manual for this bike. While running at 110 mph+ I’ve notice a 1-3mm front wheel wooble that when I lean forward or pull off the gas it subsides. Tires are newer with 5K miles. Have a small fly screen. No weights missing. I’ve owned. This bike since October 2018. Rear shock is at second from top adjuster front fork I turned two revolutions cause I weigh 220 lbs. The front wheel bearings are true and greased. Any thoughts on the cause of this? Should i re balance front wheel?
Hi, Im not a track guy, just a regular rider enjoying the mountain passes in our area. I'm having an issue with front tyre wear. It wears in a V shape, mileage on front tyres are low and on rear tyre very high. I ride a Suzuki Inazuma 750 (bandit type). Secondly I have purchased a Suzuki K4 USD radial front end. It will probably change the geometry, any advice or blogs, would be appreciated.
Hey .. Ari... I'm a big fan of yours and I need a help regarding how to perfectly tune my bike carbueretor . It'll be a great pleasure if you make a video for that. Plz... Help me My bike is Bajaj 200 ns , the problem started when my bike completes 20k kilo meter. When the bike is in 6000-7000 rpm at high speed the power of the bike suddenly stops, I think its powerloss. What is the problem could you please find me that?
My motorcycle has uneven wear on the front tyre. The left side keeps wearing out and the right side has some grip left. If i let go of the handle bars at 70kmph the handle starts to wobble. Please help.
My 2006 Dyna seems a bit loose in the rear end. This happens especially in the 5th and 6th gear. I do need to adjust the belt, but didn't know if that would give it that feeling. I just purchased this bike yesterday. The bike is a 35th year collectors series and only has 8,900 miles. Your thoughts?
my bike jolts incrementally when front breake is applied as if the breake disc is bent or "not true" but the disc is fine when i checked! whats wrong here?
They made lane filtering legal in AZ and there's a stop just north of a freeway exit that has a huge ravine in it. Stopped there twice and was embarrassed because my bike wobbles to the point where I have to catch myself and can't stop properly. I usually don't get a nice opening to filter so I rarely do it, but now I know I have to look out for that cuz if I wobble like that between cars...
Hello After a fall and hitting a wall with my front wheel the steering became to wobbles when on slowing engine break is applied. I changed the front wheel tyre trying to solve the problem. No damage to shocks absorbers seen. No oil is comming out from the shock and absorbers. Unfortunately the problem still persists. Any recommendation. The motorbike is kawasaki gtr 1400
Can someone help me out here? I've got a CBR 250r which i got an year ago. The issue is while I ride the bike it sometimes makes a pop (from the silencer) and stops! What could be the issue? Is it the fuel injection? A friend of mine told me it could be because of water seeped into the tank. But I've cleaned my tank and checked it twice. Any ideas what could be causing this?
My height is 5.9 I have Yamaha mt15 my feet are not fully stable on pegs. Fork alignment and handlebar changed but issue is same of steer to right side Pls solve my problem of steering
Hey i did a wheelie today and slammed the front pretty hard, thought I heard something and now it feels a bit more vibraty, also when I when I'm on my bike I would have to tip toe to back it up since I'm short but now I feel like more of my feet can touch the ground like my bike is lower?? Any thoughts??😅😐😔
Hey I have a 2003 z1000, it's heavy to steer, and my front tire wears really fast to the point a quick 5 mins on it and I can smeel rubber burning. But there no rubbing.
My handlebar starts wobbling as soon as I got my hands off. It only happens with a top case though even if it is empty. Without top case still there is wobbling but it doesn’t bother anything. Is there any solution for it? Only around 50 kmph and 70 kmph.
Lately I am having this wobble feeling in my motorbike while taking turns.I have checked my Tyres pressures and tyres are still new though it is not too much when it happens I kinda feel insecure while taking sharp turns. If you can help me some suggestions because I don't really trust some of the Indian Motorbike service shops. If you can give some suggestions like what to do and what to check. Thank you, looking forward to to see your reply.
My two cents for the vast number of us on 70s-90s UJM (or retro bikes designed after them): 1. Torque your front axle pinch bolts as a regular maintenance item. Hondas for sure, but I'd guess any UJM, have a pinch collar that doesn't actually tighten all the way down (it just isn't designed to. Thats in order to prevent bottoming while the axle is loose), and hence the pinch bolts/nuts can become loose. Even a few foot pounds loose there puts you at much higher risk for front wheel wobble, and at worst if they get really loose you could be very susceptible to tank slappers, even in regular street cornering. 2. If your front end tracks weirdly to one side or just kinda feels 'off' while turning (it's hard to describe, but you'll know it if you feel it), check/ideally replace your fork seals. UJMs, and really any single front disk bike, put uneven pressure on the forks under braking. This gets more severe under panic braking (looking at you learners on UJMs who wanted a cheap beater to learn on). The result is that the disk side seal might leak just slightly earlier than the non-disk side, so in that period where the seal is just starting to wear out, you'll get some weird handling going on. Replacing fork seals isn't an insanely difficult job, and it's a good thing to get in the habit of doing if you intend to keep riding these older bikes.
Ari my head bearing keeps getting lose again and again..... After a drive of about 200 to 300 kms.... I have also swapped my head bearings with new ones in showroom garage itself but still the problem persist. Please suggest a solution
I feel so dumb, my fz 09 felt like the front end was real heavy for a few weeks, checked the front tire pressure and it was at 26.5.. it's supposed to be 34 lol
so odd question, i got a VFR800 from 03 with abs a few months back and the battery just drains itself when it's sitting around for a few days (about 3~4 days till flat battery). i replaced the battery and if the bike is not connected it stays full so sure the battery is fine. and i checked if it charges when the bike is running which it also does so the stator and R/R are fine too i guess, does anyone have any suggestions? the only thing that's not stock is the heated grips which are always off.... thanks in advance for any thoughts.
I think everyone should know how to service their bike. Please prepare a video about servicing your bike by yourself . And point out the major replacement and and adjustment to be made.
Hey James don't forget head stem and swingarm bearings are often ignored a simple way to test head stem bearings are do some low speed tight corners in the case of extreme wear the steering is clunky not tracking smoothly or do 60kph so for you 37mph in say an empty shopping centre carpark on Sunday lift both hands from the handlebars if you get "tank slap" once again the head stem bearings have flat surfaces, with swingarm bearings those seals are delicate in both cases the steel 150mm drift to get head stem bearing races (cups) out and for the swingarm bearings 400 drift and brass drift 100mm to install a brass drift is soft metal so does not mark steel.
Hey bro pls help me buddy. My bike got an Accident after forks handlebars triple tree everything replaced. But there is a slite bend to right side which gives pain to right hand and didnt gives enough under thiegh support. If i had a pillion the right side is lowered and left got little up ... Hi there, my bike is unstable at low speed. It' handle is going left side at low speed. And when I removing my hands on bike I have to shift my body slightly at left side I don't know what is the problem going on. Can u help me with some suggestions?
So what does it mean when your handling gets real sensitive, almost squirrely? I have a new bike (2k miles this season) The change was almost overnight. ??
My rc390's handlebar bearing feels loose, so I tightened it but even after tighting , it gets loose within few kilometres. So what may be the issues please help me
Got a question. I was told that my front tyre is oval shaped. Is it best to changed it? Ik is dangerous cause from what I know I kept wobble on driving on uneven road and hard to steer too. Thanks
Ari, my 2012 cbr250r feels like its always leaning to the left slightly. Is it because the roads slant down to the right and are higher in the center for water drainage or something else?
WIND! wind will also make it harder to turn in one direction than the other. I thought my bike was pulling to the left but it was just really windy from the right all the time!
My bike ... hmm can you tell me .. is it normal to feel all the bumps in road when riding ? i got an small 125 cc bike and it like shakes me almost off of it when going to bumpy roads... wait answer asap do i need to service or can i do something at home to it ?
Hey love your videos! I have a sportster XL1200… got a weird wobble in the front after high speed driving and may have hit pothole. I replaced steering bearings, front fork seals and fork oil. Wheel bearings and even the rim… still have a strange off wobble when turning mainly. Same before I changed and serviced everything… could this be the rear issue?? As far as I can tell it’s aligned… going nuts !! Thank you!
Would you guys ever do work on a views bike, just to repair an issue with the bike, show the work performed with how to instructions and help with new content?
Hi ari , jsut got myself a new machine brand new still shiny ... shes weaves atlot at either slot control or static speeds , its an honda AT any advice ?
My bike handle easily goes to turn right but when turning the handle to left, it doesn't turn at all. This leads to the bike hard to turn to the left . Can anybody tell me what's going on???
Believe it or not but somebody let the air out of my front and rear tire while it was parked at a restaurant didn’t notice it until one week later because bike was very hard to control and steer 8 pounds in the front tire 12 pounds in the rear tire some people are scumbags
