I had a former Marine as a TI in the late 80's that told me I didnt belong in the U.S.A.F. Wished I'd a listened. All they trained me to do was turn wrenches. Pathetic!

How important is finding cover in situations where you might be fired at vs firing back? I guess it would be dependent on the situation?

Im not trying to sharpshoot you or belittle you video but I have some issues. There’s more reasons to walk in a Ranger file, it’s not just for breaks in contact. You use this formation to reduce your signature, reduce terrain disruption, make it harder for detection, makes it harder for enemy to count your numbers(counter tracking)and it’s heavy on left and right defensive fire power. Ambush if done ideally comes from the flanks. I completely disagree with leadership walking in the middle of any road in an actual movement to contact or a route reconnaissance. This is asking for death. Walking in the middle like that I might do if we’re beating feet in a relatively secure area and time not security is essential. I’d still use a Ranger file on a road in this situation with only five or six guys. I might use split columns with a platoon, still wouldn’t walk in the middle. I’m only speaking on this because I spent half my adult life doing this stuff in LRSD, RR and as a Ranger Instructor. Spent All of my combat time as a scout platoon sergeant or team leader running small kill teams.

@@ModernFrontiersman I understand brother and again I’m not trying to sharpshoot you or anything of the sort I just feel it’s important to disseminate correct information. Sometimes the basics and bad habits we picked up or developed in GWOT will get people smoked. Remember we had the logistics and the firepower to walk in the middle of the road 😬

@@VictoryOrValhalla14 Many ways to skin a cat, and shit changed monthly/ yearly in the GWOT with patrol mannerisms and general SOP's. What they did in Ramadi was still different from what we did in nuance in Sadr City, and so on and so on.

@@DJTheMetalheadMercenary yea there is the right way and the wrong way. Does walking in the middle of the road sound tactically smart? These lessons were learned at least in WW2 if not thousands of years ago. I don’t think a LRRP guy alive today will tell you to walk in the middle of the road. I’ve already listed some of the reasons why this isn’t a good idea unless you’re sacrificing security for speed or convenience. I earned a living getting dropped off on route redwings and walking around in the groves south of Baghdad. Not one time did I walk in the middle of that road, it was loaded with IEDs and small arms ambushes. The only time you should sacrifice security is TIC and you have a no shit hit time, Unit SOP be damned. Even then you are risking being set up for an ambush. The bottom line is the upcoming war for restoration won’t be won overnight or with large scale combined arms. It will be won by the partisan/militia fighter being smarter than the ZOG drone following his shit units SOP.

I get the gist is you're mad about something and the fact that SOP's can and do at times indeed suck, and the Corps isn't the Army and everyone does things differently. Get over it because it's out of your control? *shrug
