@@derriuswashington1600those are my favorite two albums, the dreamer the believer was the first hip hop album i ever bought, i was like 13 i think. still listen to it on the regular
@imnotraisinbran oh thats awsome. The first i ever bought was college drop out i was 14. I remember The dreamer so clearly because I was a junior in college and was 21 great times.
I really dig the Kareem Riggins produced Common albums. He really does a great job of incorporating live instrumentation and acoustic drums with samples.
Awesome album and great review. That August Greene joint that Beezy referenced is GOOD house cleaning music. My fav Common album is One Day... just because it was my intro to Common and Hungry goes hard. On this work, I've listened to "Now and Then" sooooo many times. Dem scratches, in the 2024, are so rare.
My favorite album from the last 2 years. This is the gold standard of modern soul sample, gospel, late 90's/early 2000's influence on an album, with the godfather of it behind the boards. Love this album. Love this production style - 9/10 for me. Brings me back to my favorite albums of all time from that era.
GREAT ALBUM! I only wish their were more Pete Rock interlude beat breaks at the end of tracks. The run time of the album I feel is perfect at an hour. I really hope they do a part two.
Lowkey I might too...not even because I like guilty Simpson like that (and I know I'll get crucified for this take and I'm fine with it) but I have always felt like common is overrated. There are just objectively better more creative, unique, lyrically clever emcees and conscious rappers in particular. This album was fire too mostly due to Pete rocks production but common came and did his thing as much as I can expect him to. He had some jewels, some slick bars and some great flows...all that said common just isn't it for me and I still feel like while I appreciate and enjoy his music he's still just a touch over rated.
So glad this came out. I was starting to feel like I could only get my hip-hop enjoyment from classic hip-hop. Been a fan of both of them for a long time. As a hip-hop male fan over 50 years old, this is what I needed.
I feel like the grades section takes up a lot of the video without adding much. Would much rather hear you guys go in depth on tracks than discuss the grades. You guys mentioned one track name the whole video.
This was an amazing album which causes me to still wonder til this day why he left so early in that bracket yall did 🤔🤔 and btw Beezy430 thank you so much for putting me onto that new Dogg Pound! I been wearing it out
To me, this is the best Hip Hop album of all time. And they are doing 2 of them. Nobody will reach this level no matter who or what come out. #sidesplitting
The only thing I disagree with is Runtime. I don’t like the fact that these song length & album length are super short. I personally prefer the length because I sit with albums & I don’t really get into short albums that much. Common gave me 3 verses on most the songs, Songs more than 3 minutes. The entire album was exactly what I look for. Great album.

I don’t understand how we can watch House of the Dragon and all the other popular shows that run an hour or sometimes longer, but we can’t listen to a legendary hip-hop artist and a legendary producer for an hour. I know I’m being nitpicky being as though y’all gave the project an overall good rating, but I think complaining about runtime is ridiculous. Just my opinion no disrespect.
HipHop has always been a Grown Man’s Sport… That gangster rap is what I consider a young boy’s game.. THERES A MAJOR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE GENRE but most of yall got it all twisted & confused
@@gintoki_sakata__ common is 51 his experimental days are over, if he wants to just appeal to his core audience/hip hop heads who aren’t anti old heads that’s fine. I think this is the sharpest commons been lyrically in yearsssss
Masta ace is another ageing mc who consistently puts out good music im suprised you guys never review him masta ace and marco polo are a match made in heaven
