These guys are being cringe. Hip hop was always meant to be political. The industry has destroyed hip hop. You guys are just sore it is only a white guy who has the guts to revive it.
I appreciate y'all and your real man conversation about this gem of an album. Thank you for rightfully giving Rapsody her flowers and speaking about her new album so eloquently. I agree, the game needs more of her.
Rod is one million percent wrong. It doesn't matter if they "provided the venue" or not. No talent, no show, no show, no packed house. A venue with no talent is just a bar. I'm going to go out on a limb and say I doubt every artist inks this type of bogus ass deal. I promise you more independent artist knew better because the understand the logistics.
As much as I try to give this show a chance to see if they give love to the south.......They dont! it takes them so much and the NEXT 15 before they name south classics .
I'd compare Aubrey's music to Kidz Bop if it wasn't so unfair to those kids collecting a paycheck, as they're almost definitely more musically talented than that fraud
YG went out way to easy, the man lives and breaths LA. he raps over beats that embody the LA sound and his flow is LA. i love School Boy, but if i’m looking at it as a WEST COAST artist, YG is the west coast.
Ive never liked eminem cuz im not a fan of comedy funny rap and never have been. I also dont like all the fast rapping unless its estee nack or something like that although he is nowhere near what eminem does he still fills beats with alot of words and has great breath control. My fiance adores eminem but me I just cant get into it.
Man I would love to see Shawn Cee come on here for a review or two like Fantano did. Shawn Cee would work with yall. That's a 🔥 feature waiting to happen
And I understand the convenience of streaming, but I have always been anti-Spotify. Wayyy back when DEHH had their video discussion on digital vs physical media, I have always been on the pro-physical side. I appreciated Feefo saying he at the very least buys his favorite artists merch and stuff. But if you’re a FAN you should always buy the music if it’s of quality. I was hugely disappointed that Schoolboy Q has 10 million followers on instagram but he can’t even break 100,000 units first week of sales for Blue Lips which is of the highest quality of music in his discography. Like those kind of statistics don’t add up. If you’re a fan then buy the music.
To the response of Jennifer Lopez and Lil Baby comments on not being able to sell out arenas, my question is are they really considered “high caliber” artists to begin with trying to do arena tours in the first place?? Because in my opinion no, and I don’t feel bad at all when such artists complain about such things because I would just say “know your place and where you stand” In the past couple of years I’ve seen The Weeknd, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar live and a Kpop group named TWICE and they had NO issue selling out tickets. And of course titans like Taylor Swift and Beyonce could sell out in less than 24 hours. So all of these artists wanting MORE of the profit should probably rethink their business strategies a little. I feel bad for more of the smaller artists of course because their tour profits are their literal livelihoods, but all of these multi-millionaire artists need to check their popularity more before going on such ambitious tours
Of all the issues facing Ticketmaster/Livenation, Artists that are getting 100's of thousands of dollars or millions in ticket and merchandise sales already not getting a cut or the concessions and parking is very low on concert goers priorities. Some of the big issues with Live Nation/Ticketmaster is bots were buying up all the presale tickets for high demand events and upselling them up to 10x the original price on 2nd party sites. Live Nation/Ticketmaster has exclusive deals with most of the stadiums, arenas, and now theaters in North America. So if you wanna see a major international touring artists or a professional sports team you don't have any choice other than going through them. After the COVID they also eliminated many of their in person box offices at venues, so now you are forced to pay their ridiculous taxes and service fees online. After the pandemic and losing out on being able to host events at full capacity for 1 year, they raised original ticket prices and introduced dynamic pricing for many concerts and sporting events that changed prices based on demand. Many musicans and team owners agreed to this new sales strategy in which they profit from economically fucking over their fanbase. Congress shouldn't have allowed the Ticketmaster & Live Nation merger years back, they okayed what has grown into a monopoly in major live entertainment in America and we are all paying for it.
I loved Beezy’s excitement on this one. It made me so happy. And by the way, after watching this a second time I gotta say, Feefo you don’t have to say you like something when you don’t. As long as you can explain why you don’t like it, that’s a review. Better than sounding, at least to me, like you’re making things up as go along. It’s hard to believe that you’ve listened to Balens Cho, and maybe you have, but Myke wasn’t there to press you on it. You’re referencing Doom, it’s just hard to watch. The others don’t have a problem with saying they don’t like some of the music you like. Just keep it real dawg.
great album. PDC felt like a Movie/Diary/Journal of her life or the start of her music career. I finally got a chance to give it a listen and to replay Rapsody's bars. The last track talking with her mom that suddenly ends & goes back to the hair salon was sad 😢
classic dehh convo. i mostly agree with myke, but his only fault was thinking that "going to record stores being a social event" is a universal thing. i love physical because A: it's how i grew up and B: going to the store or website to buy a physical thing is an exciting feeling. i don't relate to socializing with people at music stores because i like to keep to myself. also feefo is right in that before we go to itunes or spotify, we're having conversations with friends irl or online. those conversations aren't exclusive to music stores. if you want to, it's entirely up to YOU to learn and converse with others about music, beit in-person or online.
As an artist, it's true that even smaller venues would take bar and you can keep ticket sales. The problem for Jon and bigger artists is they're deal with Live Nation means they lose money off their ticket sales, like Jon said paying for things like catering when he doesn't even want it. Realistically we just gotta cut out the middle man
