We lost soldiers in the recapture of that island after a illegal and immoral land invasion of sovereign territory. The British fleet learned a lesson in air defence though. The type 45s with their Samson radar are next level.

@@phil9678 Obviously. I wasn't making an evaluation of the invasion's right or wrong. The junta was just trying to mask its domestic troubles with the invasion. I was merely pointing out that things could've ended up very differently if one or two things had happened. Even Thatcher herself noted that the war was a "close run thing." A number of Royal Navy officers thought the same, including Woodward. A couple more bombs and few more Exocets would've changed things dramatically. The MoD admitted that losing one of the carriers would have ended the operation. It could have been very different.

And if only more British SAMs had worked “properly”, Argentinian Skyhawk pilots would’ve been an endangered species and hardly a single ship would’ve been sunk. See how unrealistic fictional what-if scenarios are as obvious as they are pointless?
