Hello to all you builders, survivors and colonists.
This video is my about new design for a STACKABLE version of an electrolyzer setup for Oxygen Not Included.
This can easily be converted into a SPOM (self powered oxygen module / maschine).
The Version shown can handle two full pipes of 1kg oxygen and one pipe with 500g of oxygen
That means this is enough for 25 Duplicants.
The Version you have seen at the 7 second mark can handle an input of 10kg of water a second (i.e. a full pipe)
and should produce 8kg and 880g of oxygen a second. That is enough for 17 gaspumps and 85 Dupes
(even though I crammed some more in the video for symmetry sake).
Information:
It can take up to 2-3 cycles to vacuum out the right part of the contraption.
If you place a liquid lock somewhere to get acces to the build,
you can use the larger amount of pumps on the left side
to do the job quicker and then later build the last tile.
Sensor Settings:
Atmo Sensor Oxygen: Above 2kg (just make it bigger than 500g everything else doen't matter)
Atmo Sensor Hydrogen: Above 2kg (just make it bigger than 0g everything else doen't matter)
Filter Gate: 0.1s
Materials:
copper ore,
igneoous rock,
granite

Hello to all the wonderful people! Here is my new design for an electrolyzer setup! I thought a stackable Version would be nice so I designed one. Shoutout to GreezyHammer - ru-vid.com/show-UC_JALG5ZFFsrBqS3jczqrgw - who independently came up with a similar stackable design a few days before me. Check out his channel he has some very high level end game builds. IIf you want to be notified when my videos go online press that bell button thingy. Have an awesome day! and bye.

@Luma_plays
@Luma_plays 3 года назад
HeyGungeoneer! Nice to have you here. Well that depends on the day: The Design took me about 30 minutes. The day before I watched a francis John video and saw someone line up the Korean-Version of an electolyzer setup.I had a work break (different shifts just like the dupes) and went straight to my test world where i testet different placements of the tiles next to and above the electrolyzer first. That lead me to find that some placements randomize the outcome of the gasplacement/gas exhaust so some versions only place the hydrogen and oxygen correct once the room is already filled with the correct gases (i.e. they are not reliable when setting up). I want my build to be very hard to break and (not necessaryly easy but) reliable when setting up. So i checked different versions and wehen i found one that worked for 50 tests in a row i continued with the idea. As i said this design was quickly finished because the mechanic wasn't new. After the Oxygen Production I checked if i can be transformed into a SPOM - which was easy. But the SPOM could break because the hydrogen generators could overheat so i added the radiant pipes that fixxed the problem. Normally it would take a very long time to test that (everything in the rooms sucks up heat but eventually and be it in 1000 cycles they would break) but i know the output gases are at least 70°C so i pre warmed every room to 70°C with (9999kg of gas a couple of times) then made all rooms vacuums and tested the machinery. Thats how i noticed that the heat deletion from burning the hydrogen only is enough to cool the generators when some radiant pipes are used. So much for the design process. After that I test how to build it in a survival setting. Then I need to film the snippets. The hardship with that is finding the right sequenz to place the parts. That takes up around 2 hours depending on the build longer. With multiple versions and around 40-140 Snippets. Then I choose the music depending on the amounts of video snippets (more = faster beat). I mark the beat of the song and fit the snippets to it. Then If i still have time in the 1 minute timespan I try to come up with little skits that make the video better to watch. And maybe some bigger build for the end of the #short. The editing takes around 7 hours average. Seldom quicker like 4h once I had 17 hours (my other SPOM -by the way i put the editing time in the description). But that is mostly because i don't have enough excercise I guess? I make the thumbnail for the shorts in my video editing program. But for the shorts youtube picks a random second of your short and shows it. I even tried to put a picture there the youtube choose another part as a thumbnail.... For the Pc i just upload what i designed (mostly the first seconds) Then description, comment preparation, finally the upload, tags, and info cards. Hope that helped and thanks for the support.

Interestingly enough I found that the water tile next to the airflow got compressed into the water tile to the right of it. It regularly moves out of the water for the outcoming O2 pocket, but this was more of a permanent movement. I think it happened when the O2 reached between 32kg and upwards gas pressure. That essentially broke the system, putting 2kg of water liquid pressure onto the hydrolyzer, and causing polluted O2 to exist.

I feed my current one from a cool salt geyer. It's output is enough to support one electrolyzer (actually 1.5) by itself. Run the water behind my power spine first to cool them, then through the hydrogen area, then through the O2 area to get it up to about 60F, then through the desalinator (powered by the SPOM, which also provides lots of extra for the base) and back down to feed the electrolyzers.
@LucArtsymationLol
@LucArtsymationLol 9 месяцев назад
Tip for building this: DO NOT rotate it 180 degrees (the oxygen and hydrogen will mix up) You can also use the extra hydrogen for your base's power source by making another hydrogen generator (make sure to prioritize the SPOM's hydrogen generator using bridges) If you are using p water, make sure the p water bottle isnt inside the spom coz it emits p oxygen) Hope this helped in anyway lmao

Hi Phan Nghia I like it too :D. This has the additional positive effect, that the infinite gas storage is included. The water is the reason the room can't overpressure, so you have the storage right there included. For cooling: you could cool the oxygen in the gaspipes to the left when they are in the wall. Change the wall for granite wall build the isolation further to the left and run the cold water through the granite wall or something like that; haven't checked that yet :)

Korean electrolyzers are cool, but can be placed more compactable) Since it works by placing gases to the one same to it => you can make airflow "pipes" and stack them really damn compact, but you need the gases in right places from the start. And other disadvantage - you overproduce oxygen and overuse water. So I prefer a bit less compact mechanical lizer.

@Luma_plays
@Luma_plays 19 дней назад
Hello, Oxygen is output at a minimum of 75°C in every electrolyzer. If the oxygen is cooler than that, then the incoming water is cooling the oxygen - depending on the piping (as intended). You can cool the oxygen by piping it with radiant gas pipes through sone cold metal tiles. How you cool those tiles is up to you: -ice -a proper cooling loop (AT+ST Setup) -wheezeworts And and so on Hope that helps :)

In terms of Output or materials? If both have the same number of electrolyzer this produces more. That is because it will always put out the full gaspackages and never stop never getting overpressured. The rodriguez is stopping alot normally that is how it functions. In terms of simplicity and material the rodriguez wins easily i think. this here can be very annoying to setup. As many hydra setups. Both have their pros and cons and depending on what you want you can use them side by side.

I have a question, i read everywhere that an electrolyser can fill for 8 dupes. In this video you have 3 electrolyser (that shoudl mean 24) right) but in the description you says "The Version shown can handle two full pipes of 1kg oxygen and one pipe with 500g of oxygen That means this is enough for 25 Duplicants." I don't get it and i'm really curious about these numbers because i want to get only 25 dupes in my base, so if this is enought i will just copy your build :) Also, i'm considering adding some watercooling in this build, i'm not very good at math-building in Oni, so do you think that i can replace the basic concrete bloc of your build with Metal one with some radiant pipe of 1°C liquid going inside it ?
@Luma_plays
@Luma_plays 3 года назад
Hi Malerickk. An electrolyzer produces 880g of oxygen per second that is enough for 8.8 regular Dupes (every dupe uses 100g of oxygen per second). There are heavy breathers and divers lung duplicants that consume more ore less oxygen. But if you have 8 regular duplicants they normally use 800g. So 3x880g=2640g that's enough for 26.4 Duplicants. Problem here your Gas Pumps can only transport 500g per second and a pipe can only transport 1kg per second. So the solution 2640g/500g=5.28 that's how much Gas Pumps we would need. So I just used 5 Pumps. 5 Pumps can fill up 2 full 1kg per second pipes and one half filled 500g pipe. Hence the 25 Duplicants. I wouldn't cool this setup because you want to destroy the heat of the Hydrogen in the Hydrogen Generator Part. If you cool the oxygen inside of the Setup you are wasting a lot of energy. Better cool the oxygen when it is outside of the building. you can run radiant gaspipes(steel) through some cold liquids. I did that in one of the let's play episodes. Hope that helped
@Melerickk
@Melerickk 3 года назад
@@Luma_plays At the moment i'm using this setup (with a little adaptation because of cold plant nerf): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_WogK9JXWns.html&ab_channel=TheAngryBreakfastClub Making cold inside the building (for the Oxygen section) is what i have at the moment ahah ^^ Also, in your design here, i'm wondering something. In the setup i have, a single Hydrogen generator can deal with 3 gaz pump, electrolyser and one water pump, because everything is not used everytime. In your build, you have 3 hydrogen for 6 gaz pump and 3 electrolyser. Can't it be optimised ? 2 hydrogen generator wouldn't be enought ?
@Luma_plays
@Luma_plays 3 года назад
Hi @@Melerickk the enegy consumption can easily be explained or calculated: If you have a single hydrogen generator that produces 800w if run continuously and you have 1 electrolyzer at 120w that if run continuously only supplies 2 gas pumps at 240w each you are now at 600W. The 3. Gas pump is for the hydrogen supply and doesn't really run very often, same goes for the liquid pump at 240w but only 10% of the time. So you are at 1080W maximum strain only some of the time. But most of the time your average energy consumtion is below 800W more around 600W. I see where the confusion is coming from: In the video I couldn't show that you can also hook up the liquid pump to the grid because of the format. But I myself do so. The build has 3x 800W of max. power. That's 2400W: 3 electrolyzer running non stopp because of the infinite gas storage that is build in it. That's 360W. 5 gas pumps running non stop because it produces a little bit more than can be handled by all the gaspumps (considering you use up all the oxygen with 25 Duplicants). That's 1200W. Additionally 1 Gas pump running only some time + 1 Liquid Pump running 30% of the time. Thats. at least *72W* - 360W. We are at 1632W-1920W. So since the lower value is above 2x800 we cannot only use 2 Hydrogen generators. But if you put the liquid pump on another grid 2 generators could work for you.

@mrblob107 10 месяцев назад
to the tryhards out there, there is a way to make an even more compact variant. You don't actually need the airgap over the electrolyzers for it to function, *you can use airtiles, the only problem is that the game only recognises these tiles if they have gas in them, so you have to pre fill both rooms with a tiny bit of oxygen (for one) and a tiny but of hydrogen (for the other). and you can end up with an 8x12+3 tile size, I don't think there's any way to shrink this to a size even smaller than 99 tiles but the design in the video takes less effort and is easier non the less.
@Luma_plays
@Luma_plays 10 месяцев назад
Hey mrblob: good explained. As for the size: With a few stacking exploits you can overlay most building but I personally don't like that. But theoretically you can make a single electrolyzer spom in a tiny room the size of a hydrogen generator.
@mrblob107
@mrblob107 10 месяцев назад
@@Luma_plays Idk about overlaying any buildings, I'm not even sure how to do that. I just meant that if you are really conservative of your space there are ways to make this design even more compact if you are willing to prefill both sections with their respective gases, which really isn't too hard to do in a real game. And from the testing that I've done it works just as well and is not that hard. I just thought to comment as this would give you an even more compact variant for just a tiny bit of extra effort. @Luma_plays
@Luma_plays 10 месяцев назад
it is not "just" to force the gases out but also to prevent the electrolyzer itself from overpressuring. both from liquids or gases. meaning it will never stop producing gas even when it normally would stop. Hence the 2 liquids. to compensate for both goals. displacing gas and preventing overpressure. using only 1 liquid in masses would overpressure the electrolyzer

@@sneezyfido That is a good question. The answer is probably:whatever klei programmed per building. Hi Kaine. To filter itself automatically and the same way reliably when you set it up: there cannot be a tile over the electeolyzer even an airflowtile. And there has to be only one airflowtile to the left on the shown height. As far a my quick testing went this should work (most) of the time. If you would place some airflowtiles on top it would only work 50-50 sometimes it would sort hydrogen to the left and oxygen to the right sometimes the other way around. Other combinations even let them mix if the rooms aren't pre filled.

I and a few other people having problems recently too with that (that = the liquid moving). See below Any two liquids where one of them is heavier / denster than the other and the top liquid should not off-gas. And you don't have to make it 2kg i learned that now. You can also just use full bottles with 200kg. The liquids should never be pushed around: that is an issue that seems to occur since the last update. I fixed it in my base by making the right wall of the electrolyzer airflowtiles too. BUT: sometimes it is a location problem.We just found out on the discord server that: sometimes the electrolyzer setup (as seen) only has problems on the rightmost side od the base. We think it might be ghost data of geysers or something. So my tip try building it more central or to the left or build the right walls of the electrolizer (where the liquid touches) out of airflow tiles) still make sure the gases are correct.

@Luma_plays

A electrolyzer in liquid (a small liquid amount that doesn not trigger the submerged state) will keep on working without any pauses. A normal electrolyzer will stopp as soon as the controll tile is over a certain pressure. This normally is gas pressure around 2kg per tile. Since we permanently filled those tiles with less than 2kg per tile. it never gets the informstion "stopp producing you are overpressured". hence we get an non stop producing electrolyzer. The relevant tile here is in the second row counting from the bottom. so the first (the lower) liquid layer can have a high amount of liquid (as long as you don't submerge the electrolyzer) the top liquid layer has to have a tiny amount of liquid. (less than 2kg per tile but more than 0.07kg per tile as far as i remember)

I'm trying this and I'm having a lot of trouble getting the waters to stack properly? Is there a minimum amount needed to get polluted across the bottom and pure across the top? Mine started out looking like what's in the guide but settled into side by side.
@Luma_plays
@Luma_plays 3 года назад
I had that happen once. You probably were in the gram area where the liquid can be displaced. Can't remember the exact mass though. i think if both water packages (polluted or brine or salt water) and the fresh water on top are around 1 to maximum (below) 2kg it should be fine. If you want to see how i did it in the let's play: look for "building the SPOM" episode 6 or so. Hope that helps. I know it is hard to manually drop the correct amount thats why there are other methods that can achieve that.

I have noticed that behaviour too. Weird thing is that on the main planet it works for me. On the second or third planet it buggs out sometimes. Especially when on the right side of planet. When build on the left side it is fine. You can also try 200 kg of liquids (200kg Saltwater and then 200kg of clean Water) instead of 2kg that *can* make it more stable. I still don't get why it behaves weirdly since a few Updates ago.

yes, most hydras are self cooled. Through the non stop production amd the incoming water. In combination with burning off the hydrogen the excess heat is desteoyed anyways. Still "cool" is around 75°C so you may want to cool your oxygen further down when using in an living area :D

those systems cool themselves. the water input gets added a certain amount and then output as hydrogen and oxygen. which both have differen heat capacities than water. baaically deleting heatenergy in the process. if you build the electrolyzer out of gold amalgam giving them 125°C heat/overheat resistance then you would have to really do something weird for this not to work. You also don't need to cool the hydrogen generators since you can cool them with the hydrogen itself then burn it away. (also gold amalgam). this is a version of the hydra setups that existed since around 2017 or 2019 i guess. so nothing out of the ordinary. Edit: your oxygen will of course be around 75°C since that is the minimum output temperature for an electrolyzer if i recall correctly. That is why most electrolyzer setups have a gas pipe cooling area next to it

It is not. Just a different setup. Rodriguez is pressure based and almost never runs at the full possible output. This always runs at maximum Oxygen and hydrogen output because it cannot overpressure. Different approaches.

If you use radiant liquid pipes from a good material the incoming liquid water should cool the hydrogen and oxygen. With cooling i mean to 75°C. So you still need good material for the electrolyzers and then cool the oxygen etc. But you don't need to worry about it overheating.

We found out that a lot of hydra designs have this issue on planets that are not the main planet and when you build it far to the sides (to me it was far to the right). When i build it in the middle or middle left it was fine again (on the same planet I had the hydrogen physics bug happening). Hey Man I did not delete the comment. Why would I take the time to answer and let other people see what you think and then do that. I am sorry but i don't know why it is not there. But you are right the comment is gone. Don't know why. I also just seen that another one of your comments got stuck in "held for review" because of inappropriate words (that wasn't true but youtube couldn figure out what :| | | | | | |:] means. Also every link automatically gets blocked until i review it because of potential scammer links. thats why those messages don't appear for me until one or two days later. But it seems like you are set on you opinion about me. So i can't help that. But I wan't you to know that I (if i actually see them) appreciate all comments even if critical as long as they are constructive. And i have never removed a comment except those (here is a link to a scammer site) ones. Sometime youtube doesn't show me comments but that is not the norm. Edit: I removed direct link to other channel, but you erased my comment -> I put a lot of thought into my own answer to your comment with links and so on. So i also would like to know why that is gone. Did you press edit on your comment or do it any other way just curious Edit edit: Just for the sake of completeness: А. И. wrote a comment under my SPOM - Let's play video that stated that I "stole" a design from a russian youtuber that was 4 years old. Then posted a link to that video (which was the case the comment was halted in the first place because links can be against community guidelines and require manual control sometimes) I then answered with: I came up with the design myself but it always is possible that other people have the same idea. Then linked to convergence theory. I also pointed out that the linked video clearly wasn't the original author since i could find an older source. Which i linked. After that I pointed out that i don't have the time and skilles to watch years old videos in russian or other languages. Then I wrote that i will remove the comment *IF* the link to a clearly false source is not removed, because i am not supporting free and false advertisement. After that I get this very message. What happened inbetween i don't know. Maybe you got reported (but not by me), maybe the editing went wrong maybe you deleted your comment yourself accidentally. And I (just like you) don't see the initial comment anymore. So I don't know why all that hate is necessary.
