So… This episode of Undercover Boss was weird but informative.

It's remarkable how the threat of being turned into brain-eating tentacle monsters can bring a bunch of people who loathe each other together as one. Heartwarming, really.

Gale and Wyll were not so bad. They at least tried to not be mean about it

levels of rudeness ranked from most to least venomous: - lae'zel (condescending, threatening, the whole nine yards. she would not send back a soup with a hair in it, she would ask for the chef and then drown them in it) - shadowheart (curt, direct, very sharran. almost stings worse than the lae'zel's threats) - astarion (rings like a passive aggressive comment from your mother-in-law, but ends with a positive note and his voice is so sugary sweet) - gale ("mean" by his standards, which is really only a little bit inconsiderate and dismissive. lets you down easy by saying he "prefers" talking to the leader) - wyll (you can really hear the cottilion lessons here. possibly the only one of the group who would recognize a cocktail waiter as a sapient human being)

This was one of the great things about Dragon Age and Mass Effect as opposed to other series. You know for a fact that your companions had differing and varied relationships with each other even as you were interacting. It was something really priceless to learn that Garrus and Tali had finally hooked up even while you were saving the galaxy and romancing Liara. And Shep even says "I'm really happy for you guys."

D&D: When you play the only PC that wants to roleplay

I now only want to play this game, whatever it is, because of pointy-eared-man

As someone who only started playing this game last month and feel in love with it it’s so weird to keep being reminded this game was in early access for years before it’s release since I feel like I only heard anything about it just a couple of months ago

They really will only talk to you

I like how the ones who don’t outright insult seem more rude because they’re hella passive aggressive

While, yeah, most likely a mutliplayer thing, still makes me laugh how rude they all are.

I hope once the game is done, this changes as you play. Like at first none of them like each other but then become companions and have available dialogue in these situations.

So, the party members,at this point, have zero respect for eachother whatsoever. I hope in the future they will have new dialogue indicating a friendship or a change of relationships. Afterall, they will be traveling and fighting together for a while.

So the general consensus is that your character is in charge.. That's pretty funny - in a lot of games you have characters who follow you for a myriad of reasons or out of convenience, but this time around everyone just sees you as the boss.

Our companions are so full of themselves. Only The Boss is worthy of their presence. ( more seriously though it would be insanely more work to develop more dialogue and relations between the companions. Instead of making it impossible with a boring text message, they added those snarky responses.)

Still happens except one time I spoke to Jaheira as Karlach and they have an actual conversation where you can tell her what a fan she is. It's cute.

I was always so curious about if a game was ever going to pull this kind of thing. Whenever I play dragon age I often times like to enter conversations while playing one of my party members and they always just talk to my main character instead

jeeze that's brutal, but maybe this is something that will be changed when the full game releases and your main character can be any of the established characters.

To be fair, they're all total douches to the player character too, 95% of the time.

Then the boss comes over and tells them he has better things to do than hunt down every single important person that needs speaking to, just to get a message across, and if they keep being bitchy, they're going to become less important.

I got a scene on act 1 where Gale was dying in the camp as usual and I was controlling Shadowheart. I went to speak with him and he said something like "I appreciate your concern, but I would like to speak to our leader only"

In games i think they're should be moments where any character including yours should all compete to be top dogs...not like a fight but base on decisions on certain situations and in combat when dealing with other not so friendly mischievous folks

Interesting In the release, the dialogue simply switches to the main character. Only Halsin had a small conversation with Jaheira. Although, I tried to chat through him only in the 3rd act, maybe in the first act they react to each other in the same way?

As in, to the player that's not the head of the party? :0 So if I'm right, they're all like this because the game doesn't see any of them as the "main character". With their open word banter, it would seem realllyyy out of character for them to be this jackass-y to one another canonically

I was honestly more excited about BG3 before I learned how insufferable the entire party is. Like, I get it, they get better, but holy shit, the amount of sheer contempt this entire group has for seemingly everyone but themselves just really makes it hard for me to get to like any of them.
