Spraying Alclad and Duralumen tonight and figured it would be a good chance to see them side by side. Both are fantastic chrome/metal paints with some very subtle differences. Hope some will find this informative! Thanks for stopping by!

I still don't understand why you have so few views... Your tests were great... I am tempted to get my old airbrush out and start spraying anything I can get my hands on! However, do get a respirator or at least a facemask next time!

Nice tip about checking reflectivity coverage any for recoating alclad on larger pieces? I cant seem to fix just worn areads without having to sand and do thenprocess over again other than glossing the clad to protect it in the first place.

Cool comparison. The Alclad seems more similar to the chrome on the airbrush, whereas the Duralumen is more silvery.

My car is getting new chrome after all. Wonder if it can be clear coated with a quality clear.

What was your preparation on the parts before spraying on the duralumin? I’m about to paint Mandolorian armor with that stuff

I would love to know if the duralumen is paint tape durable? I wanna buy the normal Duralumen Version and paint tape it without using a 2k before the paint tape.

hi, so i sprayed some gloss grey and some alclad hi shine on some spoons ( spoon test ) the results are decent but the stuff easily scratches off even when dry.... is there a reason for that?

4 oz doesn't sound like much... What's the coverage? In other words... Roughly, how many helmets would 4 oz cover? 1, 1.5, 2, more?

for me duralumin is actually cheaper in Canada if you buy a certain amount because shipping cost but i like that stuff. also less need for aqua gloss can lower the cost.

We should talk paints sometime Gordon, I used to paint grand prix bikes for a living. Theres a lot to comsider, undercoats, spray speed, laquers etc. All impacts on durability snd color. Lets get on a zoom with Tom sometime.!
