Thank you for this video. Very informative. Though art by Marlene Essentials Journals are very pretty they are quite pricy for the number of pages they have, plus the rings are (for me) on the smaller size. Personally I prefer to use the classic office binders. Much cheaper and with bigger rings

Hi, Tara! First of all, congratulations for your art works. Lovely spreads! New follower here! 😸 I have the big Ranger journal, is a great product, one of the bests to work with. Illustrations, decoupage, anything, with any technique goes well in this journal! I LOVE the paper pocket is a nice touch. And we can personalize the cover! By the way, Marlene's journals are pratical, because, as you said, we can change sheets (or add!). I love the idea to have a folder to archive older works. So both brands offer great solutions! Is really difficult to choose a journal between those options. I'd take both (LOL). Congratulations, great video! XOXO Marcelo 🐻

I have both dylusions and art by Marlene journals, I like the art by Marlene journals when I’m using my gel plate or sprays because they are removable

I'm glad you posted this. I'm always trying to decided which journal to put my collage art in. I like the Dylusions journals, but get frustrated because I also want the freedom to easily add and remove pages. I also find that the spine begins to separate as I work in them because they are really not too well made. I do remove pages so my book doesn't get too bulky as Dyan recommended in one of her classes. I don't know what else to do about them. I tried making my own journals out of watercolor paper that I stitched together Teesha Moore style, but I have noticed that the ink from the magazine images has rubbed off in some spots. I think I'm going to try individual sheets of Strathmore mixed media paper which can be added to an Itoya Art Profolio...the plastic sleeves will also protect my work. I discovered them at a local art store. Now I need to decide which size to work with. I like consistency in all my work.

I can't comment on the ABM journal as I have never tried them but I do have the large Dylusions journal and I have did remove a number of centre pages as recommended to reduce bulk. The spine has completely disintegrated so I have lots of page clusters that are now loose (usually where I have not gessoed or taped the page by the spine). It has generally performed ok with inks, watercolours, pastes, acrylic paints etc if I have gessoed first but there have have been a few pages where the paper has pilled as I have added more layers direct to the cardstock. I am a Dylusions fan generally (love the Dyalogs for example) but I have two other brands (one independent and one that also sits within Ranger) to try for my Mixed Media Journalling to see how they perform (ie will the spine stay intact) once I complete this one. Good to see the review of the ABM as this is another one I have considered trying out. Thank you!

This is interesting. My daughter just gifted me a delusions large journal all pages off white. It has 64 pages. She got it half price at Michael's because was last one and cove has a tiny rip. I am so grateful. I was talking about it for my birthday. She got it no we both I can use it now. She's the best
