I love this video, it’s still applicable for myself as a South African. I’ve been contemplating whether signing w/ a mid-tier firm as opposed to a Big 4 was a good decision, but your video helped me feel more secure in my decision. Especially with regards to company culture, work-life balance (manageable deadlines), and having a wholistic perspective to audit & seeing the detailed ins and outs of both listed and SME companies. Plus, auditors of these small to medium firms often end up in positions of leadership in these firms (if they get poached) because they understand the intricacies and challenges/potential of these firms.
Hey mate. The work life balance is decent. Started around 8am most days and finished by 6pm. Busy season in Audit (Aug-Oct) could mean more hours but other times of the year are pretty much standard. Grant Thornton had a great team and events.
@@lukewiles1 oh I see. So you work about 9 hours a day with an hour lunch? Apparently the cla office I’ll be working at is tax heavy so I’m most likely going to be working in tax but my ultimate goal is to move into consulting and then hopefully pivot to a big 4 if possible.
@@shaheena.3803 lunch breaks were typically short but yeah around 9hrs a day. Sounds like a solid plan! Big 4 experience is great for the Resume. Best of luck with it all
