Thank you for the thorough review Jason! I’ve built one CSM car and absolutely loved the build! I have 7 WNW kits in the stash, but have not built one yet. However, Iike you I plan on building one this summer.

Definitely will be getting a CSM kit (or several) in the future, particular this one as Nungesser is a favourite French ace of mine.... I do hope, that the WnW molds will come back to life, whoever bought them, as the prices on their kits are simply ridiculous to say the least..... Excellent video! 👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻

Very nice review and comparison mate. I agree with you, CSM are definitely the (current) best replacement for WNW. CSM,s new Bristol Scout is a lovely kit, and for the price, is fantastic value for such a high quality kit.

"Models are for building, not for stackin". Bravo Jason, a man after my own heart. I don't have any hands on experience with a Wingnut Wings or a CSM kit yet, and it's pretty unlikely I will have one with a WNW's considering the current situation and the no doubt extortionate prices that these kits will command when the hoarders decide to cash in! Having said that I was already very impressed with builds that I have seen of CSM kits, for example Flying Circus Models did the Caudron G.III and it looked amazing. Mind you Flying Circus could make a Revell kit look out of this world! A great comparison video Jason. I love the look of the instruction book of the CSM kit. The cover and the aircraft information page are class. The whole package certainly stands up very well to WNW's. Lets hope CSM go from strength to strength. I haven't any experience with a Roden kit either so how about a comparison with CSM as both these manufacturers are currently readily available. Take care and happy modelling.

Big fan of CSM, they seem to have a similar ethos to WNW. The box is a bit more prosaic, but more robust than WNW. The contents, instructions are excellent. I have just bought the Bristol scout, it is a beauty. Currently building the Nieuport XV11. They are pretty good value too. Very good, fair review.

Hi Jason, I have really been looking forward to this video. Considering WnW was one of the best modeling companies out there, it looks like CSM was done a really nice job of filling their shoes. I hope they keep it up, releasing more WWI subjects. I will definitely be building more CSM kits in the future. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Jeff

Excellent comparison video. I agree...CSM is the best (current market) replacement for WnW 1/32 WW1 aircraft. It think it's clear from your comparison, that CSM is modeling (see what I did there) their business model on WnW. My only quibble with CSM (and I can't comment on build as I haven't built one yet...maybe soon) is they do have a pretty limited range of subjects. WnW (may they R.I.P.) did have one "kinda" frustrating aspect. They seemed to be fixated on the Albatross D.V (I actually have one of those kits). CSM seems to be doing similar with the Nieuport. I would enjoy seeing you compare the Meng 1/32 Fokker Dr1 to a WnW kit (as it was supposed to have been based on moulds from WnW). What I would really love is someone (NOT Roden) to do a 1/32 SPAD (CSM are you listening?????).

Cool comparison of the two kits Jason ❤

Very interesting review. I have to say, I have never seen a Nieuport VII that wasn't in an over all silver dope colour scheme.

Great comparison Jason. As a new modeller, I looked at the last batch of Wingnut Wings kits on Hannants and decided on a Dolphin. By the time I had the money spare, they had all gone :(. Sadly the only ones available are now from those who bought to profit. I will be looking at CSM more closely. thankyou. Ian

Excellent review of a potentially tricky subject! WW have the advantage with the range of subjects compared to CSM now. But, I think it may well come down to, you pays your money and take your choice. As an aside, models are for building!

Thanks for that video. Due to my situation it’s doubtful I could ever pay the prices demanded for stash kit sales so knowing there is a company around that can hopefully improve even more with future releases and give that feeling of a quality WW1 aeroplane kit, at a price I can afford. Thank you

@@ModelkitStuff I look forward to them, price seems ok for the quality although it’s most of my monthly disposable income, I lost my business in covid and the NHS have taken my ability to work so now live on disability payments, I have to purchase carefully. Having also just been diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both hands I have to look at kits a minimum of 1/48 and larger. I’ve been advised to keep up with the kit building as it will help keep my dexterity from going so quickly although my other condition means short modelling sessions, but have done nothing in the last 2 weeks These 1/32 CSM should be right up my street although the digging may prove interesting. Thanks again

Easily crammed decals on the CSM kit - you've not seen an OO gauge freight numbers pack lol Nice review

Is CSM the best (in 1/32) Great War plane you can purchase when you don't want to pay WNW, er auction prices? In my opinion: Yes. Nothing else come close to WNW although Eduard makes some wonderful WWI kits in 1/48 and 1/72. And yes, as WNW got a bit carried away with Albatros DV DVa kits... well CSM has done the same with Nieuport scouts..but I think it's understandable in both cases. I've got a couple of CSM Nieuports and more WNW kits than I'm going to own up to.. especially since every WNW purchase I made was after the company shut down. But I love all of the kits I have and I'm glad CSM added some French aircraft to the mix! Cheers.

WNW got so many things right in terms of what modellers want from a kit.Yet the business model proved not to be commercially viable in the end. Bit of a conundrum that.

Just a bit of advice needed. If the entire wing surface is going to be covered with a Lozenge decal would you paint or apply a coat of varnish to the wing first or would you leave it bare plastic ?
@ModelkitStuff
@ModelkitStuff Год назад
I would certainly gloss varnish first. I also would lay down a primer probably a white or very pale yellow as you wont really know how opaque the decal is.

Eventually some company will buy WnW's tooling? That happens all the time in the world of styrene model companies.
@tomlavelle8340

It can compete. No one in their sane mind wants to pay hundreds of $ for a WnW kit on the black market. And this coming from a guy with 5 WnWs.

I disagree with his assessment of the box art. To me the art quality is arguably equal. Perhaps the composition and color choices make it lesser....possibly. What I noticed immediately was the art itself is unencumbered by text and logos which gives the purchaser the option to frame the art. I would call that a definite value plus!
