With this test I wanted to find out if different DI-boxes and preamps really sound different. Especially when I am recording the pickup of my acoustic bass, I often wasn't sure which option would be best. But also for recording an electric bass I was wondering weather I need one of my DI-boxes or if it is better to go straight into my RME Interface. So I just tested all the devices I had. I know there are some much more expensive devices on the market. Next time (for the next test) I'll try to borrow some of them.
The "results" of the test are as follows:
1. PALMER PAN 02 (active)
2. EBS Stanley Clarke Signature Preamp
3. PPC (probably made by Palmer) PAN 01 (passive)
4. Klark Teknik DN200 (active)
5. Monkey Banana - Banana DI (active)
6. Vintage Revolution Acoustic Box Live (Preamp)
7. IMG Stageline DIB102 (Passive)
8. RME Fireface UFX interface (Hi-Z jack input)
