Comparing the new House of the Dragon trailer to the OG Game of Thrones trailer to see what clues there are about the show.
House of the Dragon, the prequel to Game of Thrones, is coming to HBO and HBO Max on August 21, 2022. Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” the series, set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story known as "The Dance of the Dragons".
The cast inculdes Paddy Considine, Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, Fabien Frankel and Rhys Ifans, as well as Milly Alcock, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Emily Carey, Harry Collett, Ryan Corr, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Wil Johnson, John Macmillan, Graham McTavish, Ewan Mitchell, Theo Nate, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson, Phia Saban, Gavin Spokes, and Savannah Steyn.
Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan Condal are showrunners and executive producers along with George R.R. Martin, Sara Hess, Jocelyn Diaz, Vince Gerardis and Ron Schmidt. The show is directed by Clare Kilner, Geeta Vasant Patel and Greg Yaitanes.
Composer Ramin Djawadi, known from Game of Thrones and Westwrold is back to score the series.

This is the 2nd teaser not a full trailer. We are likely to get the full trailer closer to August. I expect there will be more to go by and dialogue!

You're crushing it my guy! If you ever get stuck for content the reverse of your 'errors' videos but for seasons 1-4 of GoT would be amazing- something like 'Everything Season 1 Got Right' etc. Hope your channel grows a lot soon cos it feels like you're going places!

Your Grace, I approve of this video 😃😃😃 The only thing I would say is that perhaps (hopefully) they didn't include so much dialogue in these trailers because they know that almost the entire world will watch this, since almost everyone is a GoT fan. I think we'll see after episode two - whether views and reviews go down. They know what worked for GoT and what didn't; if they go against the fans then they'll pay for it - literally of course. Glad to see another video! 💖

George wrote on his blog that the core of the story is the human drama, not battles. I think that’s a pretty good sign. (That being said, they can’t show the Dance without epic moments, so I definitely think we will get both.) Also, this is a teaser trailer. The main trailer will probably (hopefully) show what the show is about with more dialogue and clips. Great video btw, I enjoyed the comparison 🐉

Since House of the Dragon is a series about the Dance of Dragons, I believe this first season will be more of a prelude that explains how and why the tensions arise. Therefore, even though I firmly believe there will be action, I think this will be more political. I personally like that a lot, if they do it right this will settle things and clear things very well before the massive action begins. The last seasons of GoT have made me miss that political-philosophical complex yet well built essence.

This trailer looks as bad as the last 4 seasons of GoT,. It's a shame cause the first 4 seasons were pretty masterful in all regards. I suspect they think that just using the franchise and making 'big moments' will suffice. This is classic Hollywood style after all. Make remakes and sequel void of the soul.

'History does not remember blood, it remembers names' is such a BS line. It’s meant to come across as philosophical and 'deep', but even the most inattentive viewer will easily recognise it as meaningless word-salad. It sounds so pompous and vacant.

I dont agree with the virtue signaling, the story is literally about that. How lords will bend rules and go to war just to not have a girl on the throne. The old king was too weak to just name early and heir and kill of the other competing branch. Allowing the downfall of his house.

That's true. However, themes and execution are not the same thing. For example: Themes might include "patriarchy", "succession" etc, whilst execution involves HOW these themes are presented and what values are being communicated in the process :)

@@CultureVultureMedia1 while i agree that excecution is most important, most of the time when people cry out virtue signaling is when its done in a very on the nose way that often goes against the interest of the characters or the story doesnt support that theme through the exploration of the characters. I feel the theme of "lords will burn the realm before letting a woman on the throne" is being supported by what happens to the mother that got passed once and resulted in a mediocre king. Perhaps the showrunners will screw up and make the girl end on the throne and say "the kingdom lived happily ever after because girls are such good rulers". But i doubt its gonna end that way as all characters have grey areas and it would not be cannon with what happens on george material.

@@CultureVultureMedia1 I don't trust them enough to pull off the execution. Subtly was the very fist thing lost when the orginal started going downhill. I'm expecting the themes to be shoved right in your face and to overshadow the actual story.

It creates a new dynamic, because you cannot simply drop in a person who looks different in a medieval setting and have other characters ignore that. But this also forces them to include themes like racism in the show, whether that’s a theme in the book or not. Seems forced at first glance, but hopefully they can pull it off nicely.

@@mamutthe4881 Well, I certainly struggle to see how a medieval population realistically has overlords that look radically different from them without anyone raising an eyebrow. Or, do you really think that's realistic? I struggle to see how they can do that without racism ever being brought up. It's obviously not a question of what actors I prefer to see on screen, it's about realism in the world of the story.

@@CultureVultureMedia1 in the books there are no real themes of racism, even in the source materials rich summer Islanders(George's version of Africa) visited king's landing several times and nothing of that sort was implied, even the slavery in the story isn't racially driven...yes it may seem unrealistic in the real world but this is fantasy...and the author has no problem with it...no point shoving it in there when it's not implied in the source material.
