I've just only started reading the Archie Sonic comics myself and experiencing them for the very first time as well.

The way I see it, Archie Sonic exists for those who want to see a long overarching plot. IDW Sonic exists for those who want to see a slice of life series set in Sonic's world.

They are both great comics In their own ways like you mentioned. I've only just started getting Into the Archie Sonic comics series which I find Interesting so far. My very first Sonic comic In the series Is the IDW Sonic comics. I wish I knew earlier about the Archie Sonic comics In the 90's I wouldn't have started reading them.
