he looks the part. Remember what shanks this was. Still young, still fresh. Not OP yet.....personality is always the true winner tho, and the actor nailed it.
@mugetszangetsjushou i thought he did well, that last scene with Mihawk was as Shanks as it gets. Him laughing and cracking his whole crew with the arm joke was spot on.
@mugetszangetsjushou he has literally everything that Shanks has. Everything - I just don't understand the complaints. And if you say he's ugly, youre delusional
@@GetTheCornNuts I said tone, the tone is very deep with Arlong actor in live action which didn’t really match the anime VA tone. The accent was odd also.
He isn’t talking about how they act. He is just judging based on looks and that dude looks nothing like shanks in my opinion. Not anything like I would have casted him, look wise
They adjusted every character and story to make it like they not over do it and make it make sense. This is what actually make this live action a Netflix curse breaker. You don't even see the 6 arm octopus fish guy that fight zoro in anime, cuz it would be unnatural weird af.
Ew no 😂 mihawk was played horribly here. He looks like mihawk 9.5/10. But how the character was acted 1/10. I dont blame the actor tho, i blame the one who told him to act like that.
I just didn't imagine mihawk would deliver his lines with that tone in the live action y'know... not to be homophobic but he sounded g@yish, like jack sparrow. Mihawk in anime sounded more firm
People dont understand that Shanks even in anime isn’t supposed to come out as a badass person, he is shown as a normal guy and people underestimate him. If we go with that context then I feel Shanks looks the part to me.
Mihawk not being a 10/10 is wild, same with 5/10 for Gol D. Roger, his actor was perfect imo, and him not looking completely healthy like he did in the anime wouldn't make much sense since hes a pirate whos hes literally dying
Luffy, Zoro, Mihawk and Buggy are literally 12/10 casting. The rest of the cast is really good but I genuinely cannot imagine any other actor playing those 4 with how awesome they were. It's like recasting J. Jonah Jameson to someone who isn't J.K. Simmons -- you just don't do it.
Its literally comparing live action to one piece what do you want bro to do change his opinions also how the heck you gone say judge a persons look by the cover? What else you gone judge by Eyes? All jokes aside I How You Don’t Take This To Heart 🙂
His intro is creepy, but he (d)evolves into a scheming comic relief villain pretty quickly. So basically exactly like how he's portrayed in the manga/anime.
I know right. Arlong looks good given it’s all makeup and prosthetics. Also the actor was great. The only way they could have been more accurate is if they used CGI.
Just watched one piece and shanks is the most nailed one in my opinion, he looked bad in that shot we’ve seen but in the actual show he was just as good and as kind and as sexy as the anime shanks, my favourite character in the entire anime and became my favourite one from the show Well done oda!
Nigga you cant just bring characters from manga or anime directly into live action. Whatever has been done is nearly perfect. Especially shanks, as he was just a goofy looking, bamboo like, skinny ass man at the starting of the series. And arlong is a proper live action fishman.
I think ppl were expecting to immediately be the badass that we now know him as, forgetting that he was a relatively harmless looking guy at the start. In a similar vein, some ppl were surprised at how threatening Buggy was, despite it being consistent with his Manga intro.
Luffy 10/10 Nami 10/10 Zoro 10/10 Usopp 10/10 Sanji 10/10 Shanks 10/10 Buggy 10/10 Mihawk 10/10 Garp 10/10 Gol D. Roger 10/10 Arlong 10/10 Oda hand picked these actors so your opinion isnt valid.
@Trigger0221 😂😂 I mean duh. They only made 1 hat. Which 9/10 they made it to fit Luffy actor only cuz that's 3 different hats. 1 for shanks, 1 for young luffy and 1 for adult luffy.
Gold roger actor really nail it, it's like looking jack Sparrow, and i love it,for shank he just look like early shank,he just need a little bit buff and perfect for yonkou shanks.
If you know, initially in one piece anime shanks was also look like rookie and not interesting. But from marineford he was chad So casting of shanks - 7/10
Yall expecting pirates to be handsome and what not lol their pirates and gold d roger was in prison for a while before getting executed and he was sick yall want him to look sexy
Shanks and Arlong despite appearance played their roles phenomenally. Arlong surprised me bc you could really feel the hatred he has for humans regarding how they treat fish men
@@MultiversalStudios Ohhh, all the comments said 2 weeks ago and i didn’t bother actually looking at the date this was posted, I just assumed it was 2 weeks ago. You get a pass then, the trailer pic wasn’t all that flattering tbf.
Shanks has a broad nose square chin and a kind smile beyond what was asthetic plus brought the character. I've seen mixed before the acting, but he looked the part imo.
Can we all agree that he does look like Shanks but it's the hat that doesn't look good on him. When you see him in the end without the hat he looks perfect
You do realize Eiichiro Oda met and approved the cast, and worked directly with netflix to make sure its as perfect as it can be. So if you doubt the cast your doubting Oda
You think Shanks is off but that Luffy and Usopp are accurate? Lmao. Usopp looks Filipino in the anime. Luffy isn't supposed to sound like he should be wearing a sombrero.
@JT-yx7vf my dude, I'm telling you EXACTLY what was stated by the author himself. Lol he broke down what nationalities the main characters would be. 🤷🏻♂️
@MrSimonsays2592 When prompted, he hypothesised what they could potentially be if he had to choose - This is irrelevant to the characters in the One Piece universe where these groups such as Brazilians for example do not exist.
I would give the Luffy actor a 5/10. While he kinda looks like Luffy, his acting hasn’t really embodied Luffy. He over-acted too much. Also, Shanks and Arlong deserve 10/10; the actors did a phenomenal job, same with the rest of the cast.
The only issue I have is that they made Garp too serious. From the beginning, Garp was presented as this silly, lax, laid-back man who's relation to Luffy made complete sense
Appearance doesn't matter if the actors can portray the characters, and EVERYONE in this remake were spot on. As for Usops nose, I don't mind it not being in this because the actors doesn't need it (also, would be hella distracting and much more of a pain).
In Japan, where 12,000 titles and one billion comics are published annually, sometimes characters are deliberately made to look strange in order to make an impact on readers and boost sales. The same goes for Sanji's eyebrows or Usopp's nose. If you do that in live-action, it becomes just cosplay.
For my opinion the character portrayal hits the sweet spot for me. They made them look realistic but kept them closely accurate to the manga. I actually like that they chose not to have Usopp's pointy nose and Sanji's curly eyebrows. It'd look a bit off in the live adaptation.
The actor for Arlong was great he had a presence about him but maybe they could of done the make up and costume design better with him make him bigger and more menacing but actor was great.
Ok I understand. But at the same time, you can’t really have people look exactly like the anime, without them looking exactly like the anime. What’s that means is that you can’t always expect a perfect 100% when going from cartoon to live action
