Hers was a great voice. They got everything right with TR2/TR3 (especially 3 IMO) the music, the story, background sounds, graphics, gameplay etc - & I think that's why Tomb Raider is still around, because some of the early sequels were so good.
I personally love Camila and Keeley, Camila to me represents the young sort of reckless and gritty lara, Keeley represents her a bit older and much more mature, and very acrobatic, so don't judge these two if you were going to, because they represent the different Lara's.
Of course both of them did so much hard work to deliver a convincing Lara. New games might have weird story but Camilla has done a wonderful job in portraying a more dark, disturbed, and complicated Lara. It was new but refreshing.
I wished Keeley Hawes kept voicing Lara for the reboot series, but I understand they wanted a younger actress to suit a younger Lara better. Keeley is the best, Camilla is pretty good too
This whole "casting a younger actor/actress to voice a younger character" argument is crap. It's too often a marketing ploy of gaming companies to make the public susceptible to the change of casting; in reality they want to save costs with the newest actor/actress, not only _paying less_ but also making him/her to do motion and facial capture altogether. Which was precisely Lara Croft's case: while I can't speak of numbers, I'm convinced Square Enix had a younger actress cast for Lara Croft just to optimize the recording process: voice, motion and facial captured all at once instead of hiring separate actresses to record each section. In the end, it's just about *making Business more efficient* , nothing else.
Nothing comes close to Judith Gibbins , something about her British accent that’s so elegant , calm yet with a small hint of seriousness , just amazing
Keeley Hawes > Juddith Gibbins > Jonell Eliott (my personal faves) they surely gave life to Lara's character, building different aspects of it with their astonishing, vibrating, completely iconic voices. 😍😍😍
Keeley Hawes seems to be the best, though Jonell Elliott sounds pretty good as well. The weakest is probably Shelley Blond, though she didn't turn in a bad performance.
Кирилл Бриль Well, I've never really played any of the Tomb Raider games, so I don't really have an idea in my head of what Lara Croft should sound like. I would imagine her to sound fairly strong and independent due to her professon, but still possibly a vulnerable.
@@JCBro-yg8vd She is in no way shape or form 'vulnerable'. I'm guessing you presume this because she is female. She was originally created to be anything but....it's LARA CROFT. This is where the newer rebooted games f**ked up and destroyed the character.
@@Dogs.Are.Better.Than.People Calm down mate! It's only a fucking video game character. She ain't going to sleep with you lmao. BTW, why reply to a 5 year old comment? Like these people give a shit about your opinion. Melt!
Keeley Hawes is absolute perfection. She nails every aspect of the character, and her acting skills are the best. I also love Angelina. Hers was a full-body performance, so she had to work the hardest (and, mind you: she's an American who had to put on her best upper-class English accent).
spicy doggo I agree I like Keeley voice the most, it wouldn't work. Keeley had a more mature voice. But it wouldn't do well with a much younger Croft, so Camilla pretty much suits the new Lara demeanor.
Nah to posh for Me I prefer camilla's more common and younger voice although you do hear some American in camilla's voice cuz she lives in La if she could personally work on purging her American voice she'd be better
Keeley Hawes all the way. She's my all-time favorite. I've been a HUGE fan of Lara Croft since I was 5 years old. My first video game ever was Tomb Raider I. I've been in love with her games ever since. When they came out with the Anniversary and Legend games, I was in awe at how amazing the voice actress really sounded with her character. She is the perfect Lara, in my opinion. Camilla is awesome, too.
I too loved her as a youngster I'm pretty old now but I think my 1st TR game was TR3 then onwards tho at some point I did back track and play 1 and 2. I remember a soft spot for 3 and 4 but I must say I quite liked 5 (and they had younger Lara as a kid)
Keeley Hawes is the best in my opinion. She had such a beautiful voice. Her voice was a bad ass voice and fit the role of the 2006-2014 series. Those games where my favorite ones. I wished they would have used keeley Hawes for the new games. But they wanted to go with a younger Lara. And I feel Keeleys voice was a bit too mature for this younger Lara.
Keeley Hawes and Angelina Jolie are my favourites, but I prefer the latter when she's in The Cradle of Life, where her accent is more refined. I'd love to see Hayley Atwell as the next in-game Lara but I doubt they can afford her.
Old Lara: Keeley Hawes Reboot Lara: Camilla Luddington (she might be the only one to choose from, but she does a great job). Since classic Lara and reboot Lara are totally different characters, it's only fair to pick one for each.
Keeley Hawes and Jonell Elliot are the most nostalgic and distinctly “Lara” to me, so they will always be my favorites. Funny enough, Minnie Driver sounds like a mixture between Keeley and Jonell’s voices! So I really like hers as well
Camilla just sounds constipated, nasely and like shes constantly fighting back tears. I'm English myself but Christ she sounds awful. Angelina was fantastic.
Carpet Chan oh god yes. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the new tomb raider games, but in shadow of the tomb raider she sounded even more nasally than ever
Camilla was born in England, sure. But she’s been in the US for so long that she had to re-learn the english accent for that role. I really do hear her more as an american than Angelina’s Lara was. It perhaps makes sense for Camilla’s Lara to have such a dialect, since all or most of her close ones are americans.
Camilla Luddington is the best. I think everyone does great but Camilla *nails* what I hear as the perfect Lara Croft. Camilla is even as stunningly beautiful as Lara.
I never realized how much Angelina Jolie's Lara sounds like TR1 Lara until now. Judith Gibbins is my favorite with Keeley Hawes in close second. Minnie Driver was good too. Can't stand Camilla Luddington's version of Lara.
My faves 1. Keeley Hawes- Her voice is fitting for an experienced, more arrogant Lara Croft. She captures Lara's character and even her history with her performance. Makes you feel like Lara Croft knows what she's doing and she's damn proud about who she is. Also, sounds hella sexy too! Love that sexy British accent. 2. Camilla Luddington- A perfect choice for a younger, less experienced Lara Croft. Really reminds you that she's fresh out of college and still kinda a student. And as Lara progresses throughout the reboot trilogy, you can hear the hardened tone in her dialogue. 3. Angelina Jolie- Admittedly, the second Tomb Raider movie was a flop. But the first was pretty good. And Jolie actually made a nice Lara Croft, not too good, not too bad. At least she felt somewhat like Lara Croft unlike others...
Judith Gibbins is the one I remembered from TRIII back in the days, and I think her voice vividly profiles what Lara Croft's background is, that is more than just a dubbing.
Jonell Elliott and Keeley Hawes nailed the voice for Lara Croft. Why? Because they sound the most British of them all and Lara Croft is British. Not to mention, they both played this role for at least three games. Camilla Luddington does play a good young Lara Croft but not a mature Lara Croft like Jonell Elliott nor Keeley Hawes. Here is how I would rank the voices for Lara Croft: 1. Keeley Hawes (She is the best at voicing Lara Croft because she has done the role the most times. Heck, a decade ago she could have even done a live action Lara Croft.) 2. Jonell Elliott (If she had more voiceover work, then it would be a tossup between her and Keeley Hawes. But I am leaning towards Keeley Hawes as best Lara Croft). 3. Camilla Luddington 4. Judith Gibbins (sounded a bit old for Lara Croft but nonetheless was competent for playing Lara Croft.) 5. Shelley Blond 6. Minnie Driver (Without a doubt, the worst of them all for voicing Lara Croft).
Here in France we've been blessed to have only one Lara from the beginning up until the reboot. Including the fist two movies! All thanks to Françoise Cadol. LEGEND.
Camille Luddington is my favorite honestly. I played alot of the old Lara Croft and the one's she does the voice of. I want to play shadow of the tomb raider though sooo bad. But so far she is my favorite. P.s. Angelina Jolie will always have a place in my heart. #i l💞ve lara croft.
Judith Gibbins will always be my favorite Lara voice, just seems to have the right tone. I grew up with TR2 & TR3, I remember one summer when me and my cousin played through TR3 in the evenings, those were the days.
Keeley Hawes should come back. Her voice fits the character of Lara so much more. Minnie Drivers and Camilla’s voices also really suit her. Of course Angelina Jolie is my favorite movie version of her and her British accent for her was well done.
