Shelley Blond voiced Lara in the very first Tomb Raider game, while Jonell Elliott was Lara's voice in the later Core Design games, Tomb Raider 4-6. Hear their story as they give their first joint video interview.

this friendly chat brings a warm, homely feeling. To think that there are such down to earth persons behind the huge pop phenomenon that were the original TR games just warms your heart. You don't get that with Hollywood. You don't get that any more.

I can’t believe how much Shelley’s voice has changed. Must be all that red wine and 7-Up 😆 Jonell still sounds exactly the same. Quite surreal to hear the voice with the actual face it belongs to 😂 very warming to watch.

Emily who Shelley said hello to is my baby girl. We did drive for 7 hours, Shelley remembered!! What a fantastic video 💕 You know this is the very first time that I've heard Lara's voices in the original version. Here, in France 🇫🇷, we were very lucky to have the same voice for 18 years, from the very first Tomb Raider, to the Tomb Raider and the temple of Orisis. An absolutely sublime voice that has marked my life. I therefore fully understand your emotion at this extraordinary meeting. Thank you.

I did not know this! I played Russian version and we had a variety of actresses (depending which studio decides to port). Think recently they did a republish with one actress. But i always prefered the English dub

Ash - I simply loved this. What an absolute honour for you to speak with these two wonderful and genuine ladies. TR has been a massive part of my life too- I had TR 1 bight for me way back in 1996 for my 8th birthday and was hooked! Every Xmas I’d get the new game, TR 2 and TR 3 etc. I would to love be able to talk with Shelley and Jonell like you have. It would be fantastic to get Judith’s side of the tale of Lara too. Sony was on a roll during the PS1 and PS2 days, not only helping kickstart a trend of adult(ish) games, but also being open to making deals with creative companies and developers. And with PS3 they started a new trend of interactive hollywood movies with the only gameplay being cover based shooting with regenerative health, and some simply babby puzzles. Goddammit Sony :(

Tomb Raider 4: Last Revelation was also my first game & it is still my favorite this day. Some of the later levels were frustrating, but that game will always hold a special place in my heart. I remember playing a Sega Dreamcast Demo which prompted me to get the full game. It is the reason why I was so into Egypt as a kid. The Mummy film also came out around that time.

Lara Croft definitely played a major role in my self-discovery journey and connecting with my femininity as a trans girl, so that story about the trans woman who came to terms with her identity thanks to tomb raider really hits close to home. Shelley and Jonell are my favourite Lara voices as well. Shelley's face even resembles Lara. The day you put up this interview is Lara's birthday February 14, according to her original timeline.

I do wonder if they changed anything after Shelley did her voice over session- she has similar eyes and lips to TR1 Lara. Plus there's Lara's playful side that gets expanded upon in the sequels and promotional materials- I do wonder if they built upon Shelley's personality slightly

Ash, can you imagine that for the 25th anniversary, the developers would create a special Croft Manor level (stand-alone game), where you would unlock the iconic costumes of the characters and find the voices of all the dabers. You could go on a mission with the voice of Camilla, then again with the voice of Judith, Keeley, Shelley, Jonell. It would have the visual of a classic mansion, you would pull the lever down in the pool and the mansion would change to a version from Tomb Raider 2, you would walk to the attic, press the switch and you would have a Tomb Raider 3 mansion. I really wish Tomb Raider game where I could choose to dub, Shelley or Camilla or... It would just be up to us what Lara's voice we want to hear when we playing.
