I follow your video like a religion! Just changed my waterpump I bough directly from the dealer(ouch) turned out the last mechanic that fixed mine a year ago put the cheapest chinese parts. First time doing it, I was scratching my head because it was too easy ! I guess watching your tutorial 15 times has its perks! God bless you!

after two years... have you had any problems with this product? Did the thermostat work properly? A review would be appreciated

Im running this metal Chinese water pump. I did buy quality gaskets. After almost a year of no issues the water pump began leaking. I kept my old audi water pump and it has a metal pump on a plastic housing. I swapped my audi pump onto the Chinese housing and installed the pump again. If i had used my original pump to start with im sure i would have had no issues. The housing seems to be just fine and i have had no issues with the thermostat. I probably should have replaced the pump and thermostat with quality parts from the beginning. However, i wanted to see how it would hold up. I did swap my original temp sensor into the pump from the beginning

You should have removed the O-ring on the OEM thermostat AND make sure100% the bleeder button was pointed UP, the way you attempted it was pointing to the side cooler, all you had to do was, turn it 90 degrees up and it'd fit! my 2 cents

Truer words have never been uttered “you do get what you pay for “ most of the time. This is an excellent video Nap this clearly explains how a cheap aftermarket pump is made.. I don’t suspect the tolerances are meeting VW/Audi specs? For something that takes a little bit of time and labor which this pump install takes.. I’d go Audi parts or a trusted name, well at least a “name” I really love all the water pump stuff I’d love to see how to do a water pump from you on a 2.8L C5 great tutorial as always 👍🏻

Wow I watched a couple of your videos cuz I was doing one of these crap hole engines yeah there's two different style housings for these cars one takes the thermostat with the notch in it and the jiggle valve faces to the right when looking at it which is odd because usually they go up but that's the way Audi did it secondly you can't interchange them because there wouldn't be a proper seal for the thermostat thirdly the Chinese water pump when I got it it had a 90° C thermostat instead of 95 which is the wrong temperature so I put my original thermostat back in I was fortunate enough to have both Styles because the customer got a used engine and the use one had the other Style and then as far as the temperature sensor goes I use the original one putting right stuff gasket make it in place put the plastic clip in and put more sealant over that so there's no way in hell that things ever going to break and fall out like other people are having a problem with as far as Chinese quality we'll see how it goes

All I have to say is...buying cheap parts isn't the best way to get the job done but, VW/Audi cut too many corners on engineering and manufacturing 85% of the components. At least the Chinese knockoff is made of aluminum and will likely last well beyond the VW shit plastic! I will never buy another plastic replacement piece of German crap for my car. VW/Audi group should be ashamed of themselves for using weak plastic in the first place. Guess where all of that plastic crap comes from...China! Designed/Assembled in Germany is the only thing it should say.

Hi Mr Tuner. I’m a high school student helping out fixing my water pump. Can you please let me know a reputable company I should by it from. Should I go with beck and arnley. When I look up their pump on Amazon it’s from china. Are you sure I should go with them. ?

I just purchase an ac delco and noticed the new housing has a clip that holds the sensor as where the old one had the plate.. and the new waterpump has a slightly bigger leg tham the oem i took out... there for if i lay them assembled side by side on the ground the oem hole to the sensor lays flat on the concrete but the aftermarket sensor hole is lifted more at an angle towards me due to bigger arm on new waterpump.... is it still going to fit? Everywhere i have looked tells me it is the right housing amd pump

For anyone who watches this in the future, the reason the two thermostats are different is not because one is "Chinese" and the other isn't. Audi used 2 different style thermostats on these engines, referred to as Behr or Inzi waterpump housings. I just went through all of this on my car, had ordered an inzi thermostat (the one with the pin and 2 seals on it that he shows in the video), took my OEM water pump apart, and found that my car is not an Inzi, but a Behr version. Need to verify with your water pump housing part # that he talks about at the beginning of the video on the white sticker.
@workweb2255
@workweb2255 Год назад
mainly what changes for the two thermostats? if I buy the whole aluminum groupset from China like the one in the video and then: INZI, I mount it instead of mine which is BEHR... does it work anyway? shouldn't be a problem, is that correct?
@Sugarkryptonite
@Sugarkryptonite Год назад
I'm guessing it should work. I haven't looked at the pictures online for a Behr vs Inzi thermostat HOUSING itself, maybe they are the same, maybe not. Check them out online and see if they look the same, if they do, go ahead and get the aluminum version with whatever thermostat they give you for it. Either works really.

@@Sugarkryptonite given the delicacy of the thermostat, I wanted to buy a high quality branded product. I don't want to end up with a thermostat stuck in the closed position. The Chinese thermostat is set to exactly 90 degrees Celsius, of this type of thermostat from major brands I find only 95 degrees Celsius. the original instead at 90 degrees. Could 5 degrees be so different and dangerous?
@Sugarkryptonite
@Sugarkryptonite Год назад
@@workweb2255 No. In my opinion the cars run too hot anyway with oil temp over 100c. 5c cooler would be better.

Funny, I just looked at a new water pump for my wife's A6. I purchased the Graf as I trust what they make. However, I did look at the Chinese pumps and noticed they were only $60. I couldn't help they were too cheap, (vs the $185 from Graf). Don't want to do this job twice because I saved a few dollars on a pump I never heard or know of.

This was enlightenment for me Thanks. I was going to buy the propellor bit only.... Then I saw the gasket. They mostly sell plastic ones here, or a metal pierburg I think it is called... The OEM one is still plastic.

Is the difference between the two thermostats due to one being a TSI and the other being TFSI? Thought there were actually two different thermostats for these cars

I baught a mahle branded transmission filter from china. Only reason i did it was because i needed it ASAP. I noticed that it didnt come with all of the o-rings and bolts like the actual mahle ones are supposed to. So far so good though. Nothing obviously different between the filters from the outside. Will see how it goes i guess. Would be good if you made a video on replacing the transmission filter and oil because there's not many videos that cover both on RU-vid.

Mahle is German. A good and old parts supplier. German engineering, specs and q. testing. They cannot afford to make the parts in Germany any more... Or rather.. they make more profit if they do not.

Right. The design of the thermostat from the Chinese part matches the OEM design from my 2009 gti- so I think the design is legit.

@Sugarkryptonite 2 года назад
@@SirManlyPowers It is. The Chinese looking thermostat is referred to as a Behr design for a Behr water pump housing. The other one he had is from an Inzi pump housing. Both are OEM Audi designs and were used in different years. They are not interchangeable in the housings.

The design of the thermostat from the Chinese part matches the OEM design from my 2009 gti. Also- the cover has the indent for the thermostat shaft, so I think it's an OEM design change. It seems to me that you'd want to match the thermostat choice to the housing design.

Don't blame China. This shit pisses me off. It's the companies that do not do proper testing of the product before they give them the OK to mass produce. You know most of the stuff comes from China but the reputable companies will test the prototype and then tell them what needs to be improved before mass producing it.

They copy everything, and are allowed to do it by their govt. They even get a contract from Europe, big money, then copy it. They don't care.
