Today we’re looking at the comparison of the poly 250 Watt used solar panels versus the new 400 Watt bifacial gain up to 500 Watt half cell mono panels and EG4 3000 Watt high frequency inverters in parallel. Connected to 2-51.2volts server rack batteries in parallel. The used poly solar panels state a 15.9 percent maximum efficiency. The used 250 watt solar panels are only 2-4 years old and only producing 112 average watts output. That’s 44 percent of stated 250 watt output. Have already had 4-used 250 watt solar poly panels go bad in last 4 months. The new 108 half cell mono 400 watt bifacial gain to 500 watts has a 21 percent maximum efficiency and averaged 350 watts out 400 watt stated output. The 400 watt bifacial solar panels has a 87.5 percent of stated 400 watt output. So the new bifacial solar panel is 2 inches wider and 5 inches longer than the 250 watt used poly solar panels and has 3 times as much output. You would need 3-250 watt solar panels to give the same output as 1-400 watt bifacial solar panel. That is insane that you can replace 3 solar panels with one solar panel. Using the EG4 3000 watt inverter allows us to connect up to 13-400 watt bifacial solar panels in series and stay below the 500 volt dc PV solar panel input. We can connect up your 5000 watts on the EG4 3000 watt inverter to max out the 3000 watt output. We will definitely be buying more 400 watt bifacial solar panels to replace our used 250 watt poly solar panels. I find it much more efficient and less expensive to connect solar panels in series. We can use 10 gauge solar wire since are amps are below 20 amps in series solar panel array. You also use less wire and less parallel connectors. Each parallel of solar panels you double to amps output from solar array. The 10 gauge solar wire is only meant for 30 amps on solar array. After that you need to go to a 8 gauge wire. Also on my 12kw Growatt inverter you can only have 150 volt dc input so that means your solar panels have to be 37.5 volts or less to connect 4 solar panels in series. I have solar panels that are 37.6 volts dc, 4-250 watt solar panels in series equals 150.4 volt dc PV input. So every few minutes my inverter has an over voltage input error code and disconnects my 6000 watt solar array that is 24-250 watt poly solar panels. I found some Canadian solar panels that are 37.4volt dc. When I use 2-37.6 solar panels and 2-37.4 with all 4 solar panels in series, I get a total of 150 volt dc for that solar array and my inverter no longer gives me error codes and stays connected to the 6000 watt solar array from sun up to sun down.
