In a world where women are often preoccupied with appearance and literally afraid to age, your presence is a breath of fresh air. You embody the wisdom and grace of an elder, something we've lost in society. Your inner and outer beauty shines brightly. Thank you for showing up in the world, we’ve been waiting for you!
Excellent quote in these tough days of social media. I’m seeing this in my grandchildren’s lives who have phones. As a grandparent, I’m on my knees in prayer to the Lord everyday that He will guard the hearts, minds and thoughts of my sweet grandchildren. 🙏🙏🙏
Love this... even at 73 I compare myself, my skin, my looks, my weight, my hair, my wrinkles to what I see on utube. Obviously I always fall short. Even though I know they have ring lights and edit all the less than perfect out. Its still hard. Its funny... I really like who I am.. I have just always struggled with not being society's idea of perfect. I wrote down the phrase to look at everyday! Thank you.
I think that’s why I am drawn to your videos, you aren’t all perfect and curated, it’s refreshing! And your chocolate chips cookies!!! My kids love them
I heard these nuggets of wisdom long ago: "Compare and despair" "Never compare my insides with someone else's outsides -- it is a zero sum game and I will always lose." Finally: "What other people think of me is none of my business!" These have made my life so much easier and relaxed ! Just some thoughts!
I am 55 years of age. I could not imagine growing up with the last two generations. Kids these days are not getting the natural experience. No skills relating to people and forming relationships. They are watching people live their lives instead of living their own lives. This has changed the metrics on everything. Social media has destroyed our fabric of society. Depression, anxiety, lack of physical activities. Too much time on their devices. Sad. Oh and Amazon, the constant acquisition of buying meaningless possessions just to pass the time! It's a wonder half the United States has diabetes, heart disease and other health issues...
Absolutely loved this message where you get vulnerable and tell how life is messy and imperfect, even with your family. I feel better and ready to listen to you again tomorrow because you are human and vulnerable! Great topic!
I actually started following you because your image is real. One of your episode your brush was broken and you were like "eh - we'll improvise". That was great.
This is exactly why I love your videos. You don't come across as perfect,, especially when you are preparing a recipe. You kind of remind me of Julia Childs ( without the wine tho) LOL And the love of family always warms my heart.
I am 69 years old and I came to terms with comparing myself with other women only recently and still struggle at times but for God’s grace and mercy on my life can I be my best self in Him 😇🙏🏽each day . I sent this to my DIL to ponder 🤔 and reflect. I loved 🥰 your book 📖 🫶🙋🏽♀️
Ruth thank you for your beautiful message on comparison! I have taught this to my children and lean into it for myself. We should celebrate who we are just as God has created us to be! Blessings to you and your family ❤
So true with everything you said ! Social media has taken away humanity and community. We need to gather together more , lend a helping hand and share real life stories that can build us up and not tear us down . ❤ we often miss the simple things and family time that God wants us to experience to have real joy!🦋🥰🩷 love this video !
Great video! Loved the content and the length. I appreciate how you are so real and still send a positive message. Thank you for the tools and inspiration. Vicki
I have only found your channel recently but it has became one of my favorites ❤ i ordered your book and love the recipes . My grand babies said best chocolate chip cookies ever ! Thanks so much for sharing your life and recipes. May the good Lord bless you and your beautiful family ❤
Oh I so needed to hear this. Comparison is still one of my top, ongoing challenges on the path of spiritual development and becoming a more loving, whole human being. I’ve been working on it over six decades now! Thank you Ruth! ❤
Thank you SO much, dear Ruth. I bought your book awhile ago, sat down and read it cover to cover, and I felt “inadequate”. And when watching your videos, once again I felt I was watching the perfect wife, the perfect mother, etc, etc. and then today, this video! Ohmygoodness! I immediately felt like I was sitting on your sofa with you and you were talking to just me. I will reread your book now with a completely different perspective. Bless you! ❤
I've always had a clean and uncluttered home. I have OCD, I was told recently by a neighbor when she came to visit that oh your home is so neat we live in our house. I was so insulted because I felt bad my house was clean. We do live in our house, we have animals running in and out. I just like it tidy and I find it calming for me. Yes it gets messy at times but I don't compare myself to others . This is a great topic thank you.
I hope you will continue to show us your 'imperfect' lives and create content....such an encouraging message this morning. Your videos are a blessing and unique in our social media world.
So true. Life is messy and nothing is ever perfect. Only short snippets and moments can be perfect. Everything else is always work in progress. Thank you for saying this.
I LOVE this talk. Thank you , thank you! So often we the viewers have a preconceived idea of REALITY on Social Media. What we don't see is the WORK that sent behind the finished product. Love your channel ! Love you home and your family. But most of all I love your STORY. You guys have put the "work" into your home AND your family, and it shows. Your cookbook is on my Christmas Wish List this yr. Thank you for sharing and inspiring!
Thank-you. ❤ This is such good advice. It is human nature to see something presented before us that looks so lovely and want our lives to be like that. It is so good to have balance. I love to be inspired to improve and become a better person as well as appreciate what I do have.
I don’t do social media for all of the reasons you just mentioned….God bless you Ruth McKeaney. ~ May your light continue to shine so that others might be inspired to follow your example on being kinder to oneself.
This message is very important for young people and even for us adults and parents, who end up falling into this trap, which is social networks and perfect families and lives! This does not exist, we are in this world to face many adverse situations and try to be happy with all the problems and difficult times. Teach true values and not this crazy materialism!
Great post. The 'on stage' of what's on social media vs what is actually ongoing is brutal to the psyche if someone has no perspective. As an aside I'm comparing the lack of that fantastic sweater that you are wearing to the reality that I dont have it in my closet!! Did you make that?? Its fantastic.
