Make any space feel like home with Hungry for Home author Ruth McKeaney’s favorite recipes, tips, and family traditions from Hillside Farm.
As a mother of five and constant host (to literally thousands of people over the years), Ruth goes to the heart of what makes one feel at home. Every day, her goal is to make her home a safe place so that family and guests have the opportunity to have deeper needs met. Intentional homemaking, in its most idealized form, is creating a setting where vulnerability and honesty are valued and protected, where understanding and grace are fostered and love freely given.
Ruth Mckeaney is a former Assistant Attorney General for the State of Virginia, and Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney. Ruth and her husband, Bob, are now raising their five children on their restored historic farm in Berwyn, PA. They have flipped many historic homes over the last two decades and joyfully lived in each one of them. They have company more often than not in a given year.
Do you mind me asking where the ice bags were purchased? Would love to use this as a welcome bag for the guests coming to my daughter’s wedding next May.
As I watched you painstakingly measuring the mayo into your cups, I wished I could lend you my Pampered Chef Measure All cup. So efficient for anything creamy. Pb, mayo, margarine, corn syrup.
I just made this carrot cake today and it turned out great 😊. I added a handful of chopped pecans and a handful of raisins. I usually try and reduce the sugar content so I just used one cup of golden caster sugar I baked it in an 8x12” dish . Really good 😊 Thanks for sharing. That’s a great tip for shredding the carrots in a hurry. I can’t believe I have never thought of using the food processor before. I used to grate them manually and try to avoid grating my fingers as well 😩
Because of this video, I ran to the garden, picked some yellow pear tomatoes and small red tomatoes, used small mozzarella balls, and fresh basil. Made a delicious salad to have with bread. (I had no Boursin, or else I would have used that!)
