As a diabetic, I quickly learned to associate light headedness, tingling tongue and lips, as well as sweating with low blood glucose. I now carry honey straws with me in case I go hypoglycemic.

Congrats! A rising 3rd year myself. I love learning medicine and some how (mostly) managed to avoid self-diagnosing. Still did it, just not with rare diseases. Learning medicine can be a lot of fun! Just avoid self-diagnosing when you're under a lot of stress

Man. This is so real! I mean, I’m all the time thinking rarest if the rarest diseases like Von Gierke’s, whereas the guy just has low sugar bcz of not eating enough, and fainting cuz of that 😂

Meanwhile I had biopsy proven acute interstitial nephritis 2/2 PPIs, a kidney stone, and a systolic blood pressure in the 160s throughout my preclinical years :/

Oh med students. 😂 I had one *very* confidently inform the doc I did not have a concussion because I passed the balance tests and my eyes evenly dilated. Yeah, I was concussed, also it had happened at gymnastics (which was stated) so the doc threw out their interpretation of the balance test and asked me if I felt more off balance than usual. Which I very much did.
