Complete Combat Guide Kingdom Come Deliverance | How to Win Fights | Combat Tips and Tricks 

Great tutorial video, we shared it with our community, despite the spoilers in the beginning about Ginger's quest. We hope it doesn't spoil too much for the taste of most people, while the value of the tutorial is quite high.

23 hours in, I finally worked up the courage to take on multiple enemies and finished off 3 groups which included 2 heavily armored bandit leaders and a group of armored Cumans.

Pro tip - you can access training w Bernard earlier, during the mission 'Keeping the peace' right after you spoke to Bailiff but before speaking to nightingale

You can train with Bernard after you have the fight with Capon in the beer garden - just don't go on the hunt in the morning and instead train. Feinting into a combo is a good way to set up your combos. Fighting groups, I try to keep circling the heaviest armoured enemy and have others run round. They like to attack by charging up and swinging, so stay focused on the main guy, when one runs up and gets in range a quick switch and you' can usually catch them with a master strike. Some other tips outside of combat. Train archery at Uzhitz by doing the easiest archery competition. You get lots of xp doing the comp there for some reason, make a bundle and you can learn to read while you're there. Pick pocket - rent a room at the pub at the top of Rattay. Get up around 1 am, game saves, rob the drunks sleeping in the barn. You get tonnes of xp, make 1 - 2k per run. Repeat every few days. Unfortunately this kind of breaks the economy very early on.

The best time to try a combo is after winning a clinch. Make sure you're stepping forward after the clinch animation plays and you're first strike almost always lands

wee little tip: train with Bernard as much as you can until you can reliably block his attacks. then switch to practise mace and try to actually win by making him surrender. if you can get him to surrender with you still being at 50%...you are ready :D

You are the first kingdom come youtuber that i really like, i play this game for 5 days now , and its so satisfying whenever you learn something in this game, and there is alot, and first i hated the first person thingy i like to see my character but, honestly from this angle you feel like you are really in the game.

In all honesty: People who are criticising the combat system do not understand that this actually is the beauty the of the game. Why? Because the combat system lets you actually feel threatened when facing more than one opponent or a stronger opponent. Because you are just the son of a blacksmith and not a seasoned knight. Because it makes you actually think about the pros and cons of going into THIS SPECIFIC combat or not. Because then you know that you have to actually master combat to some kind of degree (although later in the game it's far too easy with the master strike). Because real combat isn't "done" within a matter of 10 seconds. You're not some kind of superhero blasting through five enemies with ease.

Got the game on the steam winter sale, your video is probably the best of the few I've seen, thanks. I wasted so many hours trying to beat cumans early game from outdated videos before the stuff was patched and thought I just sucked.

Immediately after you perform a perfect block, press stab. It lands most the time. Also i found that moving my sword to the same side the opponent moves his weapon, opens up more efficient counters, that deliver devastating effects

You can also buy skill points form Bernard, it took me a long time to figure it out, i was allready level 13 in sword so i bought all 4 points. You can also buy points for axe and defense with him. If you want to buy it you just need to talk to him out of this training.

The "Parry" your referring to, in the game are called master strikes. It also isn't actually tied to timing like that. It's what happens when you get a perfect parry while blocking the same direction the opponent is attacking from. If your opponent is attacking high, perfect block high to perform a master strike.

Your description is slightly off on parries. The basic blocking is fine, as is perfect parry, but you conflate the parry-riposte and the masterstrike, which are two distinct skills taught in the same training session. The parry-riposte is a 'special success' strike delivered following a mere perfect parry, this narrows the opponent's parry window, but can still be parried by a single opponent you are facing. It is better than merely following a parry or block with a separate attack in the next tempo (the riposte is delivered within the parry itself, but uses a player action attack). The second - which you describe as "parry", confusingly, is in game described as a masterstrike. This is IRL a single time action which by choosing position and time both blocks an attack and strikes within the same action ... which at least one of the masterstrikes in game actually does... but many are (also confusingly) a series of actions following a displacement (e.g. the pommel strike(s), following a running off). Defence in game has the following options: Do nothing, generally bad idea. (Also by being too late in a tap/release parry). Block. Better than nothing, but only barely. Hold the block button. (or before the parry training). Parry. Tap and release the block button (either before training in masterstrikes or by missing the timing - late) - Fails, reverting to block if you hold it instead of letting go, or if you are too late or extremely early. Parry Riposte - a parry timing, followed within the slow time by an attack (cut or thrust). Requires masterstrike training, and that you satisfy the timing need of parry, but not the tighter timing of masterstrike. Masterstrike - a single player action (tap-release parry) done very early in the opponent's attack. Delivers an attack without further player intervention when you get the timing right. Cannot be blocked at all by your locked opponent... can be interrupted by additionals. Dodge, voids the attack, especially useful if voiding to the side, as you deny his attack, while remaining close enough to immediately strike. (I think the masterstrike is a bit too easy as implemented - there is no real risk in trying to finesse the timing, and it is the safest and best option. The real masterstrike zornhau relies on a step to create angle and time, along with a slightly later than normal counter cut over the top of the opponent's cut to protect and strike simultaneously. This would be better served by the masterstrike window being rather later against a committed attack, with a possibility to miss altogether if too late, or to be more 'neutral' if done safely too early. IMO). Not how it is done in game, but how I would do it if re-working combat.

Ok, so ik im a year late to a video that came out around 4 years after the games release, but i keep seeing this and want to correct it: You can get master strikes *BEFORE* Neuhof, simply *don't* talk to Nightingale (The guard you go on town patrol with) after you do the first bit of training with swords and bow and spar with Hans Capon. Its a natural break in the story (as the patrol mission isn't timed) and Bernard will be at the training area available to teach you Master Strikes (as well as any of his other training options, to help raise your skills). I was a competent swordsman before I ever rode to Neuhof, and you can be too!

how comes someotimes in the tourney i dont get a prompt for a perfect block im early levels but i have learnt the perfect block skill

Is there a rule to perform a Riposte AKA Masterstrike and not just Perfect Block? Or it is a random - sometimes you just block and sometimes riposte? Maybe you should press block in the right moment to increase the chance for Riposte or even perform it every time?

wow, that's good, I only was capable of fighting against the odds until my character was high level with lots of passive skills and with poisons xD When I was low level I was using a lot the bow and run. Fighting maximum of 2 enemies at a time.

I love and hate the combat of this game. You get stuck in a cycle of parrying each others attacks and when you do get a hit it's satisfying

To parry, you don't need to strike at the same time than you perfect block ? The description of the perfect block skill say than you need to strike to parry.

So... explain to me how is it that in comabt encounters with more then 2 enemies (let's say 3) 2 of them go out of combat and literally run into me doing circles while my camera goes nutts and the one bandit that is actually still fighting me gets a perfect combo after wich all of them start pelting me with attacks and it's a reload after that point.This happens with every single combat encounter. THIS DID NOT USE TO BE LIKE THIS when I first played the gaem both on normal and Hardcore back when it came out. Surely I can't be the only player that has expirienced the degrade in the enemy AI right ? Mounted archery to the rescue I suppo... oh they started running away... well there goes my loot somewhere in the fields.

Great tutorial! Q: sometimes İ do a perfect block but the opponent continues their attack combo, why is that?

Hmm... the problem is I often don't get a perfect block when I miss the right moment for the master-strike. I have well over a thousand hours in the game and still can't do that master-strike, it just happens by coincidence here or there, only managed to do it on purpose maybe a handfull of times. I just can't see them do anything before they actually move the sword back and then it's too late, it seems. For the combos, I never could do a single one, postponed trying those for a long time.

Are there any tips for positioning my weapon using a mouse instead of a controller? I find it irritably annoying to precisely have to point my mouse. I really want to like the combat. But this is so off putting for me :(

I know this is kinda old, but you didn't mention the feint. It is the best way to start a combo against a skilled opponent like Bernard.

I cant believe you did not mention "the Fehler" move. It is such easy move and it can totally speed up or even change course of battle. It is a primitive move no doubt but it can be very effective. Especially if you preform it as combo opener.

So when you parry, if you time it right the strike will come automatically?

How to win any fight in this game master strike with any highlevel mace or warhammer . If this is not use the free hit after the master strike to bonk him in the head. Headcracker is also a useful skill.

I think I have played 3/4 of the game and had no idea what those stars are or how to perform even 1 single combo. Very awkward fighting mechanics, horrible pc controls. I dont even know if I have a weapon drawn or not. Often I have to draw the weapon again and again just to know I am holding one. How do you fight if you dont even see what you are doing?

I've been playing this game for years I have max stats and all the training and still suck at the combat it is my favorite game of all time but if I could change one thing it would be the combat

it still didnt help. they keep sprinting towards me, cant land perfect blocks because henry keeps stumpling on stuff, they all attack me at the same time, cant have my stam above 50% even tho im ONLY defending, henry keeps allowing them to surround him because whenever i finally land a perfect block he just swings the guy around putting himself literally in the middle of them or do a very slow perfect block animation that either does no damage or takes too long allowing them to land tons of hits on me. tried with longsword, tried with sword and shield i tried everything idk if the problem on me. henrys levels are pretty decent if not high, warfare, defense and sword are all above level 15 PLUS buffs and perks. strength at 20, agility at 13... etc. got a 90 dmg longsword and 64 dmg shortsword. got good armor too. its not the best but its pretty good since the lowest protection i have is 31 and the highest is 50. id really like it if someone comments on my comment saying the problem is on you and that its a skill issue PLEASE say it. i really think its not a skill issue its just the game is impossible to do it due bad mechanics, not the difficulty of the game itself. in 1v1 situations skilled knights cant land a single hit on me but when its 2v1 thats it, cant do shit. one more thing about perfect block bcz i just so hate it.. sometimes the game thinks i managed to do the perfect block but nothing happens so either henry stays in his place LOCKED in his place i rather say.. or the opponent just runs towards me while i do the perfect block animation on him.. and hes not taking any damage at all, hes not even doing any animation. it sucks. please help.

The issue is hitting and damage. The enemy will fall for nothing combo as much as you like faint as much as you like they'll just block or dodge everything. I fought the stable bandits at night no amour and no sword and every hit was doing no damage. It's all stamina based once you run out or your amour takes damage tjags when you take real damage only issue is enemy have no visible Stam bar. And wasting yours just leads to a beat down

I've had this game 6yrs and got frustrated with combat as the tutorials ingame and on youtube were wrong. For instance to do a masterstrike block when you see green prompt - this never worked, below is how to do it properly. To do a masterstrike- forget about the green prompt as it's too late, the moment you see your opponent move to strike press block and you'll perform a masterstrike.. you don't need to press the attack button aswell just press the block button and you'll automatically counterattack.. To stop an enemy doing combos- when they start just dodge and it will cancel their combo. To reliably do combos- there'll be 2 opportunity's- when you win a clinch or perform a masterstrike immediately start a combo as the first attack of a combo is guaranteed to hit. try sticking to 3 move combos at first to get used to it.

Idk why I’m watching this, I just beat the game for the third time and just hit 300 plus hours played on the game.

I literally just get a longsword and spam stab and counter attacks. Def gets to level 20 in like 2 hours of gameplay.

Perfect parry only saves you from an attack. It does not include that counterattack you do with your sword hilt. You are also doing a very advanced combo there after you parry and it is impossible as a rookie to do that to Bernard at the early stages. Your character is endgame level. So this makes this tutorial a little irrelevant unfortunately.

So when that guy performs the perfect block on you it makes the sound of a douche? I haven't had the pleasure of hearing that sound. 🤣 JK, great video!
