very good recording, I want to add that building a house in Europe is very different from building a house in the US, the difference between the materials used is colossal, in the US you use wood to build walls - in Europe we use brick or hollow brick, you use concrete for the garage driveway - in Europe we use used paving stones, etc., besides, a great video greetings, I like the roof covering, what is a shingle?

This was enlightening. My spouse and I were quoted a build time of 4-6 months for a house, looks like we'll choose a different contractor after watching a video of people that know what they are doing and getting it done in half the time we were quoted.
@JerettFilmsConstruction
@JerettFilmsConstruction 2 года назад
That time quote is not unreasonable. The interior still needed insulated, sheet rocked, painted, flooring, and cabinet install. These clients actually moved in after January. Covid has also made ordering materials take forever…

Yes i am curious if this is huriccane or typhoon proof? I dont know why many homes in USA are not pure concrete with steel roofs unlike here in Philippines which is a 3rd world country many homes here have a concrete walls with steel roofing.

Very American house, all show on the outside, but you're living in a garden shed. Won't look too good in twenty years, horrible and flimsy construction, and no cross bracing of the structure, relying on the OSB for rigidity. Still prefer brick and block walls with a slate or concrete tiled roof.
@empice2k
@empice2k 2 года назад
So very true... OSB was used throughout the construction. OSB is a garbage building material. No proper floor joints only that OSB composite was used instead. No plywood sub-flooring, OSB sheets were used instead. I’d hate to walk on that floor in about 20 years.
@roybrewer6583
@roybrewer6583 2 года назад
@@empice2k yes, I can see the floors bowing quite quickly due to lack of strength, much to thin. In a house I would use nothing thinner than 15mm thick marine grade plywood, even where it is fully weather protected.
@jokesatinappropriatetimes
@jokesatinappropriatetimes 2 года назад
@@roybrewer6583 the flooring is a minimum ¾" (18mm) thick, so where's the problem? Sure, if you get water standing on it, it falls tf apart, but keeping up on maintenance and repairs will keep it strong for many years. OSB is stronger and flatter than plywood.
@roybrewer6583
@roybrewer6583 2 года назад
@@jokesatinappropriatetimes OSB ages very quickly and you need a much OSB than the plywood equivalent, it's a cheap material for a reason. It may have good structural properties, but I would still put in cross bracing, in the UK it's extremely windy and wind bracing is required. I still wouldn't specify OSB and would prefer either a concrete floor or block and beam floor on brick/concrete walls, expensive when compared to OSB. I know that in the US they value engineering construction to save money, but saving money upfront comes with problems in the future. I prefer life cycle costing, paying more and reducing maintenance costs. Each to their own, there's never a wrong or right approach, it's always down to time, money and quality you want to achieve, I find that often one of the three suffers even on a good build, still wouldn't build a house out of matchsticks, lol.

Why is it that when Americans start building a super-high-speed locomotive, they always get a frame house? For example, in Russia and Belarus, frame construction of houses occupies only 2%, and 98% of buildings are stone, where for 10,000 dalars you can build a stone house with an area of 200 square meters of brick and this is considered the cheapest construction, and in the USA and the European Union, a brick house is considered the pinnacle of construction equipment, politicians live in such houses or movie stars, while the average salary in Russia and Belarus is about 700 dalars
@gonsalomon
@gonsalomon 2 года назад
Thinking about the same. Maybe because it's cheaper to build that way? You still need thermal isolation, but some mineral wool will get you safe. Here in Argentina (South America) the most popular way to build is with hollow bricks...
@RIPYpsilon
@RIPYpsilon 2 года назад
@@gonsalomon Well if you use pre-insulated bricks or other types of bricks like xella 500mm you do not need insulation.

Eu penso que uma casa deve ser construída no tijolo e no concreto. Esse terreno é grande, então eu penso que poderia ter aproveitado mais o espaço do terreno. Também poderia ter colocado um segundo andar. Não confio em casas que não são de alvenaria.
