Hey Harsh, I've been following up with this entire playlist lately and thank you so much for educating upcoming artists like myself. I wanted to understand a few things. I am beat producer and rapper with zero fanbase as of now. The platforms that I am looking to build my brand and promote my music is on RU-vid, RU-vid Music, Instagram and spotify. While I do acknowledge that all the registrations and copyrights play a keyrole in safegaurding your intellectual property, I wanted to understand, is it absolutely crucial even for zero fan base artists like myself to invest money in such registrations? The reason why I am asking is, these registrations will cost me money. And I wanted to understand your take on when an artist should actually consider doing these. My gut definitely says doing all this is very very crucial but as a beginner focus on building the brand first. I am absolutely getting my brand name copyrighted/trademarked since that's a one time thing but har gaane ko copyright karna by spending 2k doesn't seem viable to me or to any hustler I feel. Would love to hear your thoughts on this. Also correct me if i worng, PROs, both Indian and international, se royalties collect karna will be a thing for people like Divine, Raftaar or Badshah since they rake so many views. But I'm strongly having a feeling that registering with PROs is quite pointless for zero fan base artists or even those on the come up with little momentum. Also IPRS pe kaafi case study dekha hai mein ne about them not paying up royalties promptly. Sez from Delhi himself called them out. Jab Sez jaise established producers k lage pade hai, then kya does it make sense to register with IPRS and pay them a fee? Looking forward to hear from you! And thank you again for making this series. Boht knowledge gain kiya hu 🙏
Hello, thank you for this comment, you've asked some really great questions. Let's start with safeguarding your content, so what I'm about to tell you now is after considering that you're serious in making a career in music, and not just 'giving it a shot' To save your intellectual property you can register your songs in PRO, i.e IPRS, because they're the only and govt authorised Music Copyright Society of India. They also give you the royalties, but they also protect your songs from being infringed, and they help you through the process if someone steals your work. Secondly, you need to not register in every society if you have a zero fanbase, but what I'll suggest is that you should register in IPRS, because firstly the fee is really small, and you can protect all your songs, even if you don't get royalties in the starting stages. Also, as I mentioned in some of my videos, they also distribute relief funds, blackbox royalties etc. Every IPRS member got ₹10,000 as a COVID relief fund in 2020. Which is almost 9 times your registration fees. Hence, I always suggest all the serious artists to at least register in a PRO and have your work documented. And people in India using music for their business are not good at paying for it, that's what IPRS is actively working on and they have been collecting and distributing hundreds of crores every year. Also, they're the only ones there in India, and fortunately it's a really active one, not like PROs of other countries where they don't even know it exists. Hope this reply helps, all the best to you 🥂
Hi Harsh, found your channel yesterday and I have watched all the videos in the playlist and taken notes. I thank you sincerely for all your efforts. Please continue the good work you are doing. I have a few queries which I am listing down below, you can reply or create videos on these topics - it will be very helpful for us : 1. I see in many youtube videos - to set this song as a ringtone, call in this number. how can we do the same for our videos 2. What about covers - can we publish the same and get royalties from them? 3. How to approach big brands like Sa Re Ga Ma / ZEE/ T Series to listen to our originals and promote it on TV/ Their RU-vid channel/ Create videos by them - do I need to sell the rights for that? Thanks again, will be waiting for your answer. Cheers!
Thank you so much for appreciating 1. To be able to make your songs caller tune, you'll have to release your songs on CRBT platforms, there are different distributors for that, you can Google you'll get some good ones. Will make a video on it soon. 2. You can only publish covers if you have a mechanical license of the original song, else you won't be able to make money by releasing covers on DSPs. 3. First thing to do is make yourself a brand, release some good songs, have a portfolio, make way for them to reach out to you. Then try to contact them and see if anything works out, but as of now, indie way is the best way to kickstart your career.
Thankyou so much Sir. Learning so much from you...Pls keep uploading such videos. Also do let me know is One Music Records distributor good or bad? or Would u pls suggest which music distribution company is good
Sir,Plzz musixmatch Parr ek video jaroor banaiye..Plzz...we need it so badly. Waise v iss channel par music se related sab information available hota hai, so isse kyun rehne de...❤
Sure, I'll try my best to do so. But it'll take some time, I want to give you the correct knowledge, so I've been researching and working on it, will come up with the videos soon.
1. Reaction channels are also a part which promotes music. What about the reaction channels, how does monetization works in that case? Do we have whitelist them? 2. Also Can we add random last numbers in ISRC for different songs in singles/ albums. Is there a particular order or format to follow?
1. If you want reaction channels / or any other RU-vid video to promote your music, they'll ask to remove the claims from their videos. You'll have to do that manually using your distributor. Please check if your distributor gives this service of removing claims from particular RU-vid videos. 2. You can add random last 5 digits in your ISRC codes, but every digit of every release should be different.
You are a God father for me sir . Thank youuu so muchh I'm releasing my first single .. Can youu plz make a video on Which one is gud single album or ep And what's the difference plz plzz
Thank you so much 🙏🏻 Isme se better ya worse kuch nahi hota, the best thing is ki aap singles nikaalo thode and apni pehchaan banao, audience banao and then eps / albums drop karo
Jo companies dollars mein charge karti hai unka amount dollars mein hi batana padta hai, INR ki value dollar k hisaab se change hoti rehti hai to ek fix INR amount batana possible nahi
$90 Songtrust, ₹2200 IPRS publisher, ₹1200 IPRS author composer, soundexchange is free and distribution plans aap apne budget k according le sakte ho. ISRCs are also free
@@m0sharafhossain To be honest, in every case you should register with Songtrust, but if you're registering with a CMO, then some mechanical royalties will be given to you by your CMO and the rest by songtrust.
Really informative video. I’ve been following some of your strategies and it’s been working great to start with. I need an extra advice from you if it’s okay to ask. I’m an independent artist/producer and I just started releasing my original music via distrokid (2 hindi singles). I have an english rnb album ready to release next year and I’m recording another hindi versatile album for release after that. As per your vast knowledge, how should I proceed with my distributor or switch to any other or connect with a label for it to make the best use of their features as an independent artist for my releases??
Don't run after the labels at this point, Distrokid is a great distributor if that falls into your budget. You can continue with them, and yes, congratulations and all the best for your releases🥂
Sir, everything you mentioned in music registration if we skip all that because of budget issue and it is our first ever release on internet does it will affect our royalties?
It'll be fine, you can start claiming your royalties when you have the budget. Companies can collect your songs royalties for the last 3 years of your released music

bhaiya Maine Na tune core per payment method matlab vahan Tak kiya tha to Mera OTP Maine dal diya tha Patna payment kitni Hui ekadam Se Na vah page refresh ka option a Gaya matlab ekadam se jo page hota hai na vah refresh sa mangne lag Gaya jaise hota nahin ki network vagaira mere ko samajh nahin a Raha ki main dobara payment Karun ya FIR kuchh din vate Karun kahin Aisa Na ki main dobara payment Karun to do jagah se paise kar de mujhe 2000 cut jaaye ya FIR thodi der vate Karun kuchh samajh nahin a Raha kyunki OTP Tak ka process to Sara complete ho gaya uske bad page ke network hote hain na ki sarve not responding Aisa kuchh Ho Gaya tha main kya 😢😢😢
TuneCore customer care ko contact karo aur check Karo ki aapke paise Kate hai ya nahi. Aur Kate hai to unko bata do, vo aapka plan active kar denge ya payment reverse kar denge. Only customer care can help.
Tq bro ek question hai bhaie artists channel se cliam karte hai kya Jaise ki topik channel se koi person mera song use karta hai to kya Revenue share hoga
Sir please ek chiz janne me thora help kojiye, agar kohi music producer beat ka copyright uske paas rakhe... Fir usss beat pe gaane banake kaya main distribution kar sakte hu? Or kaya main uss gaan e k copyright lee sakta hu?
Copyright nahi le sakte aap gaane ka jab tak aapko exclusive rights nahi milte. Aap beats ko use bhi tabhi kar sakte ho jab aapko license milega producer se
Bro? There's no video on how to Copyright a song!! Ur videos r on either distributor or publisher but there's no video on how to Copyright music!!😐🥴 Songtrust, and other distributor are not involved in copyrighting songs it's all about royalties! Where can i copyright my music?!?!?!?!!💢
Sir, if I have Tunecore pro plan, will I still be allowed to register on Song Trust ? Will those not cause any conflict due to duplication of royalty collection (Because Tunecore will also publish and collect royalties and same will be done by Song Trust as well) ?
See distribution and publishing are two different things, if you're Distributing through TuneCore, you can publish from Songtrust, that's not an issue. But if you're Distributing and publishing through TuneCore, then you should not use any other third party for publishing. Publishing should be done only from one platform.
Thanks @@SirGamma for clarifying my doubt ! You are doing a great job in educating musicians especially independent artists like me through such videos and also actively participating in responding to queries. Wishing you the very best in your noble endeavours !! :)
