peter parker(arrogant),harry osborn(douchebag)mary jane(uncertain full of insecurities),sandman(was the best character development in the entire movie, loved his story arc)
The church scene where Eddie becomes Venom is so poetic! Eddie Brock the "Holy Man" goes there praying for Peter Parker's death, and ends up becoming Venom. Peter Parker goes there as the "Sinner", and leaves having rid himself of his sin. He is then shown showering, as a symbolic form of baptism.
I also read something interesting about this scene. At the moment Eddie said “I want you to kill Peter Parker” God immediately abandoned him but the devil he heard it and condemned
Also fun fact - Venom was designed and invented by a fan, not Marvel, in 1984. Marvel bought the permanent rights to own Venom for a measly $220, which is less than $1,000 today. 40 years later and Venom has now appeared in at least 4 live-action movies grossing almost $4.2 billion in the box office, almost half of which coming from a single movie!
Venom is a character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character is a sentient alien symbiote with an amorphous, liquid-like form, who survives by bonding with a host, usually human. This dual-life form receives enhanced powers and usually refers to itself as "Venom". The symbiote was originally introduced as a living alien costume in The Amazing Spider-Man #252 (May 1984), with a full first appearance as Venom in The Amazing Spider-Man #300 (May 1988).
Additionally, this particular symbiote named 'Venom' mainly bonds with the reporter called 'Eddie Brock'. There are many other symbiotes, all with different names, personalities, looks, powers, hosts etc.
i never watched comics so just curious, does venom bond with spiderman first or eddie first? and just reading lores isn’t venom part of all black necrosword? so… does venom ever meet gorr?
@@AppleFrogTomatoFace If I remember right, It bonded with Peter first and that's how Eddie found out that Peter is Spiderman, Venom told Eddie. If I'm wrong about anything then I'm sure someone will correct me.
@@AppleFrogTomatoFace Peter first. Venom wasn't a character originally, he was just the black suit (designed by a fan), Venom was created later to explain where the suit came from. Something the Venom movies glossed over due to Sony not being able to include Spider-Man is that the entire reason Venom has his big iconic white eyes and striping (a Spider symbol in most media) is because he bonded with Peter first and absorbed those traits from Peter (along with the desire to fight), he then latched onto Eddie (like in this movie) after Peter got rid of him as they both shared a grudge against Peter, with Venom amplifying and feeding off of Eddie's hatred.
Actually Harry did reverse engineer the goblin formula to give him all the abilities but none of the downsides that his dad had, he also made his own tech (as you could see in the lab he had different gadgets and a different glider from what his dad made)
Idk about that. The formula had potential side effects. I don't know that it was 100% a given that it would cause insanity. I think Norman became like that because he had a hidden evil in his heart whereas Harry was a good guy.
He didn’t go insane from the serum but he definitely had mental cracks. Original scripts for SM3 had the Butler scene at the end be 100% Harry in his own head. Bernard was never gonna be real, as Harry was the one who dressed his father’s wounds and realized who he was. He just went crazy and repressed the memory into an idea of his Butler being the one who found him. The shot would’ve cut to a wide shot during a hug with Bernard to reveal Harry standing alone.
@@hughglass2520 Yet it’s got the worst box office performance & worst review’s out of all 3 wtf kinda copium are you on 🤣 Facts don’t care about your feelings cope harder
@classiccuneyt lol yet it made the most money and STILL generates the most revenue today. Those are facts not opinions. It's ppl like you that can't form their own opinions of knowledge because you're too busy going off dumb narratives lol
Sandman has always just been a villain not a super villain because he generally just a thief. This version of sandman is probably the best with his backstory which they also tied to Uncle Ben's death which it in the comic book initially wasn't that way. In fact the person who killed Uncle Ben was called the cat burglar and the only reason he had a gun was he was older and scared of getting caught. Not to mention the cat burglar was the father of another Spider-Man's rogue black cat AKA Felicia Hardy. The venom from Spider-Man 3 in the venom from his own franchise are not comic book accurate but both have aspects that represent the character pretty good. In this movie it was his connection to Spider-Man tied with Eddie Brock obsessive personality let him to a life of resentment and hatred which the symbiote feeds off of. The venom from the venom film franchise shows the symbiotes great connection to Eddie and venom's his overall hulking presents. In the comic book Harry become the Green goblin over grief his drug addiction which he replaces with the goblin serum Dennis hatred for Peter because his father preferred Peter over his own son.
One of my first comics was Fantastic Four#F218 Sandman was in the 'Frightful Four' with Electro, Wizard and Trapster (who was posing as Spider-Man to gain access to the Baxter Building. Sandman was wearing a weird spiked costume. A great read. And yes, after that he was almost portrayed as a low-level crook and mercenary. At one point he was in WildPack with Silver Sable. It wasn't until just before this movie was released that he was portrayed as a reformed villain.. As for the burglar being Felicia Hardy's father- that must have been a very recent ret-con. I don't remember that at all...
I really like the in universe reason why they cast Bruce Campbell in different parts for all three Spider-Man movies and wanted to continue it in the (unfortunately) canceled Spider-Man 4. One idea they pitched around was he was supposed to be the Villain Mysterio and he shows up as different people because he's the master of Illusions.
Spider man versus Venom! They changed Spider man's costume and comic sales went down so they had the costume become a alien creature. Sand man is a great villain to deal with keeping the plot going strong. I give it 5 out of 5 big ones!
So some of this movie came straight from the 90s cartoon. Specifically, “Bully Maguire” attitude Peter/spiderman and Eddie Brock getting the symbiote in the church. But the movies and the cartoon, venom became a fan favorite of Spider-Man’s villains. Venom’s design comes directly from Spider-Man. It’s an enhancer and a leach at the same time. When it bonds with a host, it keeps whatever it absorbs from them. Nutrients, memories, abilities. When it got to Peter, it had a special bond with him. So it kept most of his memories , abilities and took his emblem and made its own. Its some comics of the symbiote arc, that a lot of people are hoping, will be adapted into live action in the mcu Spider-Man universe
While the symbiote died appeared and bonded to Peter in the first comic it appeared in... it didn't really make Peter aggressive. It wasn't until Spider-Man TAS adapted from the Spider-Man mythos and changing Symbiote to have it affect the host, making them aggressive.
Weakness and struggle is the human experience, That's just what it is. Life will always beat you, in the end. But all these movies emphasize that choice and the way in which you deal with it. You can choose joy, nobility, and responsibility through all the heartache and trash. Sometimes people don't even realize til they're in tears that it's those relatable moments where we choose poorly, learn harshly, and come around...that really tug our heartstrings. The heroes that do it cool everytime...will only get you so far. Likewise the ones that are just permanently flawed. Inside us all is a yearning to see ourselves or our life represented....but still in that window of fantasy and fiction, which promise such fantastic payoffs. I struggle everyday...this world sometimes seems like a nightmare. Watch the news, lose a friend.....grieve day in and day out. But there's a lot of love and purpose left at the end of the day.
Thats all the backstory u need for the symbiote, its an extraterrestrial And the Birth of Sandman is quite simple to understand, he was turned into sand because of a "demolecularization machine", his molecules literally fused with the sand around him Edit: Bully Maguire is the best written character in fiction
Harry’s butler telling him about how his dad died made me tear up so much when I first saw this. You can tell he never wanted to tell him that truth but he knew he was the only one that could actually tell him that.
Re: Venom *deep breath* Spider-Man’s black suit is an alien symbiote he encountered during a huge Marvel comics event called Secret Wars, in which a (nearly) omnipotent being known as the Beyonder transported a bunch of Marvel heroes to “Battleworld,” to test their mettle. Spidey’s costume was damaged, and he stumbled across the symbiote in containment, which gave him a black suit. *deeper breath* At a certain point, Reed Richards-leader of the Fantastic Four-gleaned from examining samples of the symbiote (similar to Dr. Connors in this movie) realized it was a living organism attempting to fully bind with Peter and feed off him, leading Peter to remove the suit in a church tower, with the help of the sound from the bells, as the symbiote was weakened by intense sound. *deeper deeper breath* Prior to Peter unbinding with the suit a journalist named Eddie Brock (who was abused as a child), was investigating a serial killer known as the Sin-Eater. A dude confessed to the murders, but-after Brock published this huge exposé-the guy was revealed to be a compulsive liar, and Brock’s career was tarnished, with the real Sin-Eater being apprehended by Spider-Man. Brock was reduced to writing bottom-of-the-barrel tabloid shit and contemplated suicide before begging G-d for forgiveness in the very same church at the very same time as Peter finally ripped the symbiote off. It then bonded with Brock, who took the name Venom as he believed that “that was all [his bosses] saw [him] fit to spew.” Because the symbiote was previously bonded to Peter, Venom knew his secret identity right away and does not trigger his Spider Sense. While he started as a villain, he’s become more of an anti-hero (which is what the Tom Hardy movies are more influenced by), and the symbiote has bonded with other people like Mac Gargan (who was previously known as Scorpion) and Flash Thompson. “Offspring” of the symbiote (essentially pieces that are separated from the main organism and become their own organism) have also become major characters, most notably Carnage, who infected serial killer Cletus Kassidy during his time as Brock’s cellmate There’s a ton (A TON) of Venom lore, but that’s the Cliff’s Notes
The symbiote is what the black alien is. Venom is usually the combination of this specific symbiote and any host post-Spider-Man. People usually refer to this Spider-Man as Symbiote Spider-Man or Black Suited Spider-Man. Basically Symbiote ≠ Venom Symbiote + Spider-Man = Symbiote Spider-Man ≠ Venom Eddie Brock + Symbiote = Venom ≠ Black Suited Spider-Man The black suit in the comics actually was a lot more passive with Peter and didn’t affect his personality. Peter just didn’t want it because the suit was believed to be alien tech. Once Peter found out, he wanted it gone. The Fantastic Four removed it and it eventually broke out and made its way back to Peter, disguised in his closet as his classic Red and Blue. The moment it could, it jumped into him and Peter eventually got to the same church as Eddie. The suit was harmed by the large bell, and Peter nearly died. The suit actually carried him to safety and left to eventually find Brock. Spider-Man 3 in terms of accuracy to the Eddie Brock story is pretty close. Eddie got fired from the Daily Globe and went to the church to end his own life when the Black suit bonded to him. The Venom movies with Tom Hardy are a very inaccurate representation of the character. Cutting out the Spider-Man origin story and making it out like the alien itself is named Venom. Venom in the comics gets his name because Eddies old job talked shit about him and said Brock was spewing “Venom in the streets” with his journalism.
Love your reactions Stef. I look forward to your videos :) Spider-Man 3 was historically my favorite of the Raimi movies, although I think I like 2 the most now. But it's a great story about fame and complacency, forgiveness, and redemption. I always cry when Harry dies. It's so sad but also a beautiful, touching moment with Harry, Pete, and MJ sharing the screen together one last time~
I’ve just realised something and I don’t know if it has symbolism but Harry turns to drinking as a form of coping mechanism as Peter turns to the Symbiote as it’s like a drug to him and a form of comfort.
Spider-Man 3 is a best case scenario in how to handle ridiculous amounts of studio interference and still tell a story that makes sense. Sam Raimi wasn't so lucky the second time around with Doctor Strange: MoM
about venom. Every movie u see is based of the comics kinda. Venom is a symbiote. And need a host to survive. without a host it is slowly dying but can survive for a decent time
Venom is the Symbiote, he’s extra terrestrial the substance attaches itself to a human, and if it like sent, it, gives it its own personality. If you watch the movie venom, you will see how it came to earth.
'This is what the Venom movie is based off of?' No, of course not. Spider-man is a comic book. Venom was a character in that. The whole MCU (and X-men, Spider-man etc) is just adaptations of comic book stories.
venom movies and spiderman have nothing to do with eachother theyre in two different universes. but then ending credits in the venom 2 had a special ending scene that might change that fact !!!!!!
The Venom movie is based on Eddie Brock but eventually Eddie and the symbiote come to an understanding, Eddie allows Venom to get out his aggression. However, he is able to temper Venoms impulse to kill and eat his victims. So he became less cold blooded killer more Antihero.
That was hilarious! 😂 Good story, good reaction and comments Stef. I had forgotten how this movie unfolded so It was a new experience for me. I think the black suit changed Peter's behavior as it did for the guy who would be Venom. Thanks! 🤓 BTW, we don't get earthquakes up here. 😊
U wanted answers? I have it all lol that was venom, the og design of venom based off the comics. Eddie Brock is the og venom, and yes he’s an alien, the symbiote is and everytime Peter separates from it it finds Eddie and then turns him into a monstrous form, almost like his true form
My favorite characters are spider-man new goblin and venom because they stole the show and it was awesome movie and wait till you see spider-man no way home ❤
The sandman's story in this is SO SAD!! I always considered the cgi animation of him trying to pick up the locket as worthy of all the awards had it been released as a separate animated short.
I think you'd really like Spectacular Spiderman the show or even the 90's cartoon honestly if you wnated to know more about venom or any of the villians if you don't wanna read the comcis. There's also the Spdierman games by Insomniac
I highly recommend reading the black suit spider man comics one of the best comics you can ever read. It’s the most famous of Spider-Man comics for a reason. Would highly recommend
The original story Spiderman discovered the alien symbiote on an alien planet with other heroes battling villains...he kept it because he thought it was like an AI suit that enhanced his abilities and strength and later found out it was a living organism that tried to permanently bond with him and the sandman was always a common thug looking to be a top criminal... forgot how exactly he the sand abilities and they picked the wrong actor to play Eddie Brock...he was built pretty much like a weight lifter.
That is venom Damn the Tom hardy venom movies really changed the general public perception of venom Venom always came from spider man He’s a spider man villain later turned anti hero
Like Stories of Old - Facing the Dragon of Grandiosity ; ) Believe me, you won't regret it! If you ask me, it's a must-watch after completing Spider-Man 3 and it really helps to soften the blow and rose-tint the glasses ^.^
This movie is kinda all over the place. Sandman was originally supposed to be the main villain as Sami Rami the director had planned, and was gonna have venom introduced in Spiderman 4, but Sony pushed Rami to integrate venom into the movie regardless of his choice, so the story and plot is kinda mixed up since Venom wasn’t really supposed to be there lol. This movie got a lot of negative feedback when it premiered, so much so that Sony decided to cancel Spiderman 4 with Toby Maguire and just reboot it years later with the Amazing Spiderman with Andrew Garfield, but this movie still holds up and is still a good watch! 👍🏼
No it made ore than enough money for a 4th film it got cancelled cuz toby wanted a massive pay increase and they refused, remember tobey threatened and left spider man 3 during production to demand even more pay when he already signed the contract and they said if he did that they’d just replace him with cgi and a body double for the rest of the scenes left It got cancelled in big part to tobey not being reliable as an actor with a bad work ethic.
Yes I love all the Spiderman movies and own them on DVD and Blu-ray next I assume you"ll watch both Amazing Spiderman movies then go to Captain America civil war then Spiderman Home coming Avengers Infinity war End Game then Spiderman far from Home and no way Home I think you would also want to hear Weird al Yankees od to a Superhero as well as into the Spider verse and across the Spider verse
"We can always choose what's right" maybe this movie is not as good as the others but it's okay I like the message and excellent reaction, I really liked it
Siempre sera el unico spider man para mi, tiene hermosos mensajes de vida, te sumerge en la película, imposible no llorar, cosa que los otros spider man no me causan el mismo sentimiento, Tobey Maguire siempre sera spider man para mi ^^
This was hollywoods 1st attempt at venom and a major reason people didn't like the film at the time. Mostly because of how different it was then Venoms portrayal in the comics. Tom Hardy's venom is much closer to the original source material in my opinion.
I've never understood why they didn't capitalize on the set up they did in the last movie by introducing Dr. Curt Connors(played by Dylan Baker in both that one and this one), who becomes The Lizard in the comics. Instead of The Lizard and Sandman as the villains, we got Sandman and That 70s Venom.
And the venom movie u saw in 2018? That was a spin off idea which somehow succeeded into a sequel. Venom has an anti hero side to him but in this? It’s his true villain side
I love the Venom movie. I hope you react to it soon. I'm pretty sure there's no need to slot the first Venom into some viewing order for Marvel or the more recent Spider Man films.
MJ has kissed at least half a Dozen men in the entire Triology and it caught no one's attention. But if Peter kisses another girl just for giving a public fan service then everyone are waiting to pounce on him like wolves
"Completing the trilogy?" Where's Spiderman 2? EDIT: Never mind. I found it. But you should add it to your Spiderman Playlist Stef. It only has 1 and 3 of the Raimi Trilogy
