On the second half of my Sophomore year. After attempting to study for the sec+ I found out about the CC and decided to start studying for that one to understand the basics. Good luck everyone!

Was studying for Security+. Wanted to get practice of giving an exam at a test centre as I haven’t given any exam in the last decade. ISC2 CC is free currently so register for it and passed in January 2024. Got some practice. Gave Security+ a month later and passed. ISC2 CC is a baby in comparison to Security+.

@@ILLWill1027 ISC2 CC is mostly theory and relatively easy to pass. After the Intro to Cyber by Cisco, the subsequent courses have a lot of hands of labs. It's really up to you what to learn since both provide good foundations, though there is overlapping content between CC & Intro to Cyber by Cisco.

@@Phanabot thanks a lot for your reply! I actually like the Cisco platform and they have so many things on there and like u said with the labs as well i can leverage those on LinkedIn while also just showing different badges and completions to show im really putting in work out here lol my plan is to do a number of the tree training related to cybersecurity and then start studying for the Security+.

While true that Sec+ > CC, there is a lot of overlapping content in the exam questions. Not sure if being certified in both helps, but Sec+ is often listed in job requirements.

Sec+ Materials: 1. CompTIA Sec+ Objectives list and acronyms (Went point by point to understand each topic. Google each item I wasn't familiar with) 2. Get Certified Get Ahead (Read twice. Did all assessments. Was my favorite resource) 3. RU-vid > Certify Breakfast : Security+ Course (Went through all videos once. Was my second favorite resource) 4. All in One Security+ Book (Read once) 5. Professor Messer Videos and Practice exams (Twice through videos and exams) 6. Dion Udemy Course (Used to fill in gaps. Only watched a handful of videos but did do his practice exams) In that order. @@CyberTekGeek

The ISC2 exam is piss easy. I spent 3 days going over the course content: sped through the assessments and skimmed over the material. I sat the exam the following week, I was out after an hour and passed. I have no IT background and don't even think I'll even bother with getting an IT job. I'm by no means an academic type and don't understand how some people are being told they need to go over extra material or buy practice exams.

CC leads to CISSP which is the word's #1 and highest paying certification in the world and compTIA killer.
@ltManifesto
@ltManifesto Месяц назад
To me it's a no brainier....the CC was offered for free...the exam gives you more time...and no performance based questions. The course was short and can be finished over a weekend. Vs CompTIA you have to pay almost $600 for just the test and a retake. Their pricing seems way to scammy....you mean to tell me just a test and retake is 800 but if I throw in a study guide that I probably won't use it's only 581? And the whole package with the test, labs, and practice exams is $2500!! We are getting these certs to try and get a job...so why charge money we probably don't have. And just for them to ask you trick questions.... probably to get you to fail to buy the test again. Yea the security+ may be more valuable but it's terribly overpriced in my opinion. I took and passed the CC and now reluctantly taking the security+ exam on 4/15 but I had to have help just to pay for it.

@@tareqaljdoa5172 honestly I just used what they provided....and went through the practice exams like 3 times. To be real the test was moderately harder than the resources they provided so my background in IT probably helped me quite a bit. They don't give you a score but I feel like I barely passed it. I feel like the security+ was easier simply because there are more resources for studying it.

All jokes aside, the CC is a really good one to gain, more so for your own personal growth in the realm of starting cyber. I just recently took it and it wasn’t bad and passed. They go over pretty essential network fundamentals and security concepts that are the backbone of starting in tech/cyber
