As a computer engineering student, yes, except for the soldering part. Although, you should've seen the type of soldering my classmates do. (not so good)

It does feel that way even with a modern CPU. We spend two months (inc other courses) just to get a simple computer with a open-source CPU to blink. The tutorials are what it is.
what kind of skills should an Electrical Engineer have ? And is it fun? What kind of things do you do? And lastly what kind of things do you learn (Math,physics,etc)?
@@I_hu85ghjo You'll need good problem solving skills and preferably be decent at Math 1, 2 and 3, Physics 1 and 2 and maybe Calc/Algebra, depending on what you decide to study specifically in EE.
I'm currently going insane because my laptop can't keep it's Wifi connection and I'm failing to connect my desktop to the LAN while also the fans on that thing alone are ear torture. Thanks to this video I am happy to tell myself that the problem isn't some trivial software issue multiplied by my personal incompetence but actually space radiation and quantum tunneling.
No that one's probably on you. Cosmic background radiation flips random bits, so it usually causes either corrupted files if it hits memory, or a bluescreen of death if it hits like the cpu or something else currently active.
@@musaratjahan7954 computers are direct application of what?... Dude computers are work on maths and logic not science... No one is talking about hardware here... Better way to say computer hardware is application of physics but computers (this gives the sense of overall pic.. Hardware+software).

@@aker1993 At my school Theoretical CS is a harder class than discrete math. Theoretical is basically discrete math on steroids. I would literally get nauseous reading the chapters for that class and trying to follow the proofs.
The other day my brother said that the way everything is connected is none other than magic. I started breaking down the layers and history regarding the OSI model and later TCP/IP. He asked further, how does that make it so I can access any website hosted anywhere in the world? I said that for that we started with communication via satellite and later cables that extend throught he entire ocean. Then he mentioned the configuration of the several different devices, all of which had to be done well. I kept trying to explain but like anyone else my knowledge is limited and eventually I realized that my understanding of the internet and its signals on a physical level is pretty limited.
this one hits close to home. I come from a family of engineers, im the first computer engineer and my grandpa made the microantenna, so he would be the gigachad at the end for anyone on a phone
Oof, hope the pain has subsided by now. Shame what happened to your fingerprints. I know how hot a soldering iron can get, and what it can do to the skin with prolonged contact, so your lucky it only removed your prints.
This is what I want to do when I get out of high school computers fascinate me and always interesting the advanced physics behind it that made them possible in the first place even if my monke brain can’t understand any of it
If you are a hardcore physics guy just go physics. Or electrical/electronic. All I can remember in the last two years was learning to use stuff other people have built (ML models, HDL and Quartus, Compilers, Parallel Computing libraries etc.). And god forbids: Java.
Back in my high school, product design (English version of wood shop I think) was compulsory until you picked your GCSE subjects. In one or two lessons, we soldered circuit boards. My teacher said I was better than it than him. He also took some convincing when I said I hadn’t done it before.
Every circuit is made of some type of metal, which is usually found underground embedded in rocks, so you are correct, we literally tricked a rock into thinking. 😄
I'll take this as proof that nobody knows wtf we actually do. Which is drawing squares or writing absolutely disgusting C. Or more realistically, getting a computer engineering degree and not actually doing computer engineering.

The digital logic one is so accurate, holy I had to learn everything by myself at the finals but damn once you understand it you will get hooked, heck i even built myself a 8 bit adder. I might make some more next.
@@thes7450 I had a bad first year and I felt like I was too dumb for the major. And it also didn’t help that the profs for the intro classes were terrible from what I heard.
Don't forget the blown up transistors, ic's, resistors, LEDs and capacitors. Specially the capacitors, the sound of panic as it blows up and almost burns down the whole uni.

I am on my first semester of computer engineering and this is accurate. I also graduated as a mechatronics technician, and my ass still doesn't know how to solder properly (sometimes it's flawless, sometimes the tin just won't drip onto the board).

the last one hits deep i mean not that long time ago humans couldn't even speak properly, lived in caves and had to hunt animals to eat, if you weren't physically fit enough you just died fast forward few thousand years and i can write this comment now because few hundred years ago someone have came up with the idea of electricity principles and later on they somehow managed to invent transistor - everything made from minerals our mother nature gave us ja pierdole it's beautiful
