This brings back such good memories. As a broke college student, I didn't realize how good life was. A paid off 1972 Corolla. $300 for apartment rent. And $30 to take a date to a summer concert on Saturday night. Plus Con Funk Shun on the radio. Life was good!

1981...Con Funk Shun - Vallejo, CA...I was stationed in the Philippines (US Air Force) when this came out....on the "7" album....DJ'ing for Dennis Rodman Father at his club "The Brown Sugar" and a hidden gem was "Promise You Love"....🔥🔥Love your Reaction....YES MAAM.

Don’t forget, for the last 100 years, probably until the 90’s , girls and young women were taught by mothers, grandmothers, and aunts(and teachers and church members) how to be classy and have morals , and not to reduce yourself to showing and selling your body. and you are right, it was about saving your body and sexiness for your man or husband. My mother was one of the most beautiful women, but she taught me as a young man by example how a woman should carry herself, tasteful and classy, and how to respect that from women. Most young people today will just say, “ stop being old, just let young people do what they want, it’s their life!” , and it is. But it also reflects what stopped being taught by young mothers at a certain time, like the late 90’s and 2000’s.

Hi Ashley Thanks for the Video. We went last year to see them preform in Redondo Beach California. The lead singer and lead guitarist band leader who song that song still sound good after 50years. All of them do and they have new members. These Artists are true Artists 🎨 because they are always looking for profection. Confunkshun will always be one of my favorite groups. Love 💘. The 70s and 80s were the best of times, so glad to have been a kid in the 70s and came of age in the 80s. It was a time before political correctness started destroying society, people were just people and we had fun without having to "post" every moment every meal or every time someone fell down on the internet

Facts! 💯🤣 My family are true music lovers, all kinds of music. My mom had the best basement parties! I was in the stage, concert and marching band as well as chuch, school and all city choir. One of my uncles and his son as well as one of my brothers and my son are all amazing DJ's. Music gives me life! 😁😆 That was a lot! 🤣🤣

During that era when I was growing up I remember that some of the women truly loved their men. and the men sensed that, And knew that. That triggered the Natural instinct in men to be protectors and providers and to be gentle and loving with their women. because of the way that their women handle them with love and care and respect. Some of those were loyal women. and that made the man love them even more. the women weren't City girls about getting the bag out of the man with no love or respect for him. They were worthy women full of self-respect for themselves, their community, their family and their husbands. that's why men loved their women to the Bone and were willing to die for them and were absolutely protectors and providers for those type of women who were worthy of that.

Beautiful song.. Before i ever heard what rap sounded like at 5 yrs old my parents would sing this song & play soul & funk for me as a toddler, this song along with others by Con funk shun was one of the very first played for my ears. And Im thankful they did 🙌🏼. Cause I don't know too many people my age (32 ) Who's not brainwashed by today's trashy music.. people have to understand the amount of raw talent it took for those groups back in those days, to create such beautiful music with real instruments. I love my parents era of music much more than my own for sure

The lead singer was Michael Cooper who sadly passed about four months ago at age 71. :Loves Train is a must listen from the group and also Cooper had a very successful career as a solo artist. His songs Dinner For Two , Shoop Shoop (Never Stop Givin' You Love), and Love Is Such A Funny Game were great R&B hits of the late 80's early 90's.
