Conan: "Your neighbors claim they hear an unusual noise coming from your house, what did they hear?" Pierre: "Like, a vibration." C: "Vibration, like an electric saw being operated?" P: "Or maybe a bass..." C: "...do you play the bass?" P: *"No."*
@@thatdude034 “...or maybe a bass.” his uncertainty to whether it is a bass or not is very...curious, to say the least. How do you not know what you're being complaint for? Or rather, what do you not want us to know...?
Well I'm assuming as he grew up he never really fit in so he probably had/has social anxiety, and as such never got to work on his social skills until his adult life. He was probably very reserved and quiet as a kid. Hes an oddball for sure but ive met weirder people. One of my cousins is practically mute and she was just born like that. But when she does talk its similar as in she doesn't really move her lips and just kinda mumbles words through her teeth. Some people are just like that.
No wonder I haven't seen any more Pierre Bernard. From a reddit comment (his account) he said that he got laid off in 2017. And that he found it strange that no mention of him being laid off from the show was ever mentioned, especially considering the part he played in the show (or remotes, much like Jordan). And it's true, the mannequin remote was so memorable, and him as a "character" as well. He does seem weird, but from the looks of it, he is just like a yes man of sorts, always game for any shenanigans that Conan has... but still staying true to his own interests. In contrast to Jordan... Jordan doesn't act.
Yea, I kill some cereal every morning too. It's so delicious how can you not just "kill" that bowl of cereal instantly? ;) (If you eat your food really fast, I've heard it said in slang terms, many times, something like "Dude, you just KILLED that plate of wings!" So yea, it does work, joking or not, lol.)
Conan being ridiculous: "You seem very comfortable holding that. You knew to grip it at the bottom." Pierre the voice of reason:"Well where else would I have gripped it??"
For the current generation, this style of interviewing is very in the spirit of Barbara Walter's 20/20 "deep" interviews of the era, complete with soft lighting to make her look better. And the over-the-top music, slow-motion and editing is parodying similar to techniques used in exploitative, sensationalist "expose" shows from the 90's like Hard Copy that use them to mould public opinion around a certain point of view. Just a brilliant bit, one my most favourite things Team Coco has done.
I love that the show has horizontal bars to change the aspect ratio and then modern monitors display it with vertical bars to change the aspect ratio again.
The interview reminds me of The Simpsons episode where Homer was interviewed because he was accused of sexual harassment. It such a classic bit that this video certainly evokes that. I can't believe Jordan gain more prominence in the later years when Pierre is equally entertaining as well.
This took a wonderfully dark turn into insanely funny. 1st time I saw I was thinking he would be asking about his collections and four minutes in, BAM!! Hard Copy spoof.
You have just witnessed the greatest comedy bit in history We should make a copy and hurl it into space to show any other life forms how comedy is done
I would do anything to "work for" Conan. Hilarious man and must be one of the best staff's 3ver in late night.. otherwise know as the best T.V. of all time. #loveyaconan
It just occurs to me that this sketch might have been referencing the Gummi Venus De Milo episode of the Simpsons, where Homer goes on an interview show and they shamelessly recut it to make him look like a sex pervert. For all I know he might have co-written that episode.
Torben Otten Oh really? Still graphic design? Has he done any bits recently? I'm subscribed to the show's channel but I don't think I've seen any comedy bits with him. Of course, they have probably over a thousand videos so I might've missed.
4:34 {Camera turns black and white while panning and zooming onto Pierre's suspicious face as chilling music plays.} Conan: There could be only ONE explanation, Pierre Bernard is a SERIAL KILLER. 5:15 Conan: Do you play the base? Pierre: No Music: DUUUUNNNNN {a saw cutting is heard in the background} 6:33 Conan: Care to take exception to the fact that I called you a killer, a MURDERER! {Camera pans to Pierre's face as suspicious music plays.} 7:18 Conan: Do you mind if I take this back? Pierre: No, please. Conan: SHE deserves a burial. {Camera pans to a suspicious Pierre as chilling music plays.) I'm laughing out loud like a fool over here. This skit is golden.
