Aux premières notes de la batterie, je me suis dit non .. ils ne vont quand même pas partir sur un sprint pareil! Parce que à ce tempo c'est du sport, faut vraiment que tout le monde soit au top de sa forme, le même jour .. ce qui arrive 1 fois sur 1 million. Trop ambitieux. Enfin, excellente prestation bien sûr, merci beaucoup
This is one of the two best performances of Bireli. The other one is ´Si tu savais’. Amazing, it’s not only fast (people like it fast), it’s so musical. I can’t help but coming back to this recording once in a while. And the saxo (Franck Wolf) lives up to the challenge of playing with Bireli. He’s unbelievably accurate, melodic and melodious.
Comme souvent chez Bireli, des éclairs de génie... merci Monsieur Lagrène, la grande classe. Un fan depuis des décennies. Mr Wolf merci également content de vous revoir après lesbeufs du « piano bar » strasbourgeois!!!!
I have exactly the same guitar. I advise anyone to try this particular Yamaha (SA 2200). Amazing neck, Gibson killer. No need to pay 5000 Euros to get the right sound...
I tried getting one of the SA2200 guitars but could never find one. I agree that they are a Gibson killer and beautifully built and specc'd. I ended up buying a Heritage 555.
I have one too. Got it for 1100 euro. Changed the pickups to some Wolfetones Marshallheads and got exactly the sound I wanted. Bireli has obviously also changed the pickups. I wonder what he got there?
I’ve respected cats and kittens who can do that for 25 years (or more). Often fantasize about playing in a lineup like this (but playing rock instead of Jazz, synthesizers to augment the organ).
An SA2200. One of the most under-rated semi-acoustic. Vastly superior to a run-of-the-mill Gibson 335. Though the Sa22OO is more akin to a 355 (ebony board, gold hardware, multiple bindings, etc.).
Thelonious Monk said "wrong is right". You can do whatever you want in jazz. You just have to find a way to integrate those wrong notes, and to do so takes a supremely high level of mental alacrity. You have to almost enjoy the mistakes and have fun with them.
It seems as Bireli has changed the pickups in his Yamaha. The original pickups Yamaha Alnico V has two screws on the upper side, and he has only one. I changed the pickups in my Yamaha and one then has to change also the frames.
Clearly out of tune on the first piece. Or there might be an intonation issue on this guitar... Idfk But either the B or G string sound off in the first tune. It gets better in the second song though. Still a tiny bit off... These Yamahas are awesome, but I find his tone too "dry", not warm enough. Do you want me to complain more?
