I'm very excited to finally be sharing this Concert Highlights Series video of my College Senior Recital! It has been over one year, I was 22, and I definitely feel like I have grown tremendously as a singer since then. I have learned so much in my graduate studies in conservatory and I would do some things very differently and hopefully avoid some mistakes. However, despite all these things and some vocal fatigue due to over singing at the time, I still believe this concert was a memorable night, the pinnacle of my college studies, and one that I can look back and be proud of! Thank you so much for joining and watching this throwback!

"Without a Song" is probably your best number of the recital. The listener actually feels the emotion in the performance. Very well done. In reading your comments about looking back on this night, remember, you went to an SDA University. They are not in the business of turning out Broadway stars. Good ol' EGW was very much dead set against it. You did the best you could under the circumstances, but being in NYC is the best decision you'll ever make and is probably doing wonders for your technique, style, and song choices. Learn everything you can and you'll go far.

Your voice has such superb variety and even though it is still young and has the remnants of 'sweetness' of a choir boy voice it shows the potential to develop the deep brown tones of Paverotti and maybe the commanding strength of your other hero Corelli? you could be all of those. I look forward to hearing the Italian in you. These Germanic songs display your amazing vocal virtuoso abilities but I am longing to hear your voice show passion, warmth and humanity! Opera is the breath of life for me!!

This video was filmed a little over a year ago, and I already feel like a different singer! Hopefully, one day, I will be so happy if I make it to the ankles of Pavarotti or Corelli! 😂

I am a big fan NOW from Toronto. Take care of your voice. Sing a repertoire that fits your light tenor voice (I suspect you are tenor di leggeiro). Don’t force your voice singing arias and songs not fit for you. Callas is an example of how abuse and misuse of a gift can happen. Bravo!

Beautiful recital, congratulations! I have a couple of technical questions (not vocal technique though, which you have a great one btw). Was the reverb added in post-production? And/Or was the reverb present in the live audio in the recital hall? What kind/brand of microphones were used? If for some reason you don't feel like, nor have time to answer my questions that's totally OK. Have a great week!
