I'm going to show you how a real concrete person pours and finishes concrete around an awesome pool.
It takes quite a bit of skill to pour and finish a 1000 sq. ft. concrete pool deck in one pour.
When you do learn the art of pouring and finishing concrete, this type of pour seems easy. Especially if you train all your workers to be finishers.
Our concrete finishing techniques are always the same when we do a pool deck. We cut in our joints, edge along the forms, mag float the surface (sometimes twice), pull the broom across the surface, and leave a finished edger mark.

Tia has done a great job Mike and both you and her will always have those memories of her working with you. Time sure flies by as I'm a general contractor and have had both my son and daughter work with me when they were younger and then they move on to their career jobs. You guys make it look so easy and the workmanship is excellent. That water reducer seems to make the pulling and pushing a lot easier. Used to pour patios and driveways and I hated it when the driver was dropping super stiff concrete and wouldn't get it to a workable slump. We would kill ourselves getting that crap finished.

We up the cement content a little, we use a 4000 psi mix VS a 3500 for slabs.

I was wondering, how often do you have to replace the edging tools? It's basically metal grinding against an abrasive and I assume those wear away/out after a while.

Mike do you ever use fiber mesh in lieu of wire mesh (to keep from lifting up of the mesh when installing)? Sad to see Tia go on to her real job. My greatest fear in life is getting a real job.

I can't believe they are letting you attach a chute extension. They would never let us do that. I worked close to a mining town and since they pour so much low slump concrete they were only allowed 2 chutes per truck no matter where they went.

@@kurtfrancis4621 I don't know about ft Wayne but here in Indianapolis, it's more of a truck shortage than a cement shortage. If u r a small guy you can't even get a 7am load. I actually did a video on the cement shortage in which I called all of the ready mix suppliers. But yeah I would like to know what's going on up there. How is Ohio? U guys having any trouble getting concrete over there an what part of ohio? Obviously I am very interested in this topic
