Elite Mogul coach Bobby Aldighieri emphasizes the importance of intentional practice during the off season resulting in better upper body discipline during the winter months. www.skistrong....
what extraordinarily simple insight, wrist goes back, shoulder goes back, feet come forward ... and that's just one of numerous suggestions to listen to, think about, practice, listen again, repeat. warmest thanks
Love this video. Running stairs is really old school training. I am a 73 year old so I appreciate old school. I been trail riding mountain bikes since 1990 so I am a big fan of cross training. If you ride rocks and roots in the woods in New England like I do your arm position like Bobby demonstrated is natural. Lots of cross over skills of mountain bike to ski if you ride aggressively in the trees.
I LOVE when you two do videos together. I’m all about practicing with intention. For me it comes from learning to play an instrument. When you get to a certain point, you can’t get better unless you have a goal each and every time you pick up the instrument. For skiing I really depend on you guys because I don’t know enough think my way around the issues. The wrist position is so simple but so key. I don’t know that I’ve seen any video where wrist position is mentioned. Thanks for that!
I am 57 and I am now passing on to my seven year old son the noble art of mogul skiing here in Sweden. What has helped me to keep in shape during all these years is a fairly simple scheme of building my upper body in a gym and my leg muscles by squats and raising calves. This is also combined with gymnastic stretching taken from my chinese kickboxing years. In fact not so many pure cardio excercises are included here but I don´t really feel i need them when skiing.
the hand position is so important, thanks for the reminder, the skipping back and forth down the stairs - while my spirit says yes, my two hip replacements say no - those were the days.
No wonder Bobby skis as well as he does, dude is in great shape! This got me thinking about where I can find a set of stairs like that. The livestock would be optional I guess.
Deb … love your vids … on snd off the hill … this brought me back to my ice hockey training years…. Doing bleachers up snd down … head up ..eyes straight … like bob had said “ peripheral “ … it’s ironic that with all the new stuff out there to train … it really comes down the basics … form , practice , diet /life style , practice … practice … and that was to play / ski at some competitive levels … not that you need to be told that … pro/Olympic huts n gals multiple that effort by 1000x …. but at the end of day like Bob had said then all that work translates to muscle memory….God … can’t wait for the SNOW …and ice ..to come ..
