This is going to be my first year celebrating valentines with a boyfriend! My first boyfriend (: We are also close to one year of dating. We are going to eat out and have a Netflix and chill day because it’s going to be raining a lot! I always found it so interesting when expensive things have less “ wow” factors than there cheaper counterparts. I think its really sweet that valentines day in Japan has more of a self love or friend/family appreciation tradition in Japan today. I tend to always feel bad for people around valentines day in the US there is so much pressure for one silly holiday
The other chocolate was also expensive and branded, but I guess to go for a middle ground is good, instead of the insanepy expensive ones. Then again in Japan for gifts often times its just about how expensive it was not really how good it is lol so..
I knew and have declared that since I saw your video popped up somewhere randomly, that you are among the prettiest persons for me. But watching this video, I am still stunned... I have just posted German Instagram post about the Japanese Valentine's Day tradition. In Germany it is more common that you go into a restaurant or the woman get roses or chocolate and the guy have to pay. At my Instagram feed the lot of guys said that they also like to get a little present for Valentine's Day. I think I will celebrate it Japanese style this year.

That chocolate cake is just super basic flourless chocolate cake, it's really super easy to make! One of the easiest cakes, really. The most challenging part is baking it until it's *just* done and not overdone (the difference can be under a minute from underbaked to perfect, or from perfect to overbaked). If you use high quality ingredients and are careful not to overbake, you can make something that is super delicious.
I really liked this video! sampling chocolate from various places, explaining a bit the reason behind the video, showing many places, nice music... giving ideas on how to serve a brownie cake.. The editing was good too. cool.

In Germany we just Love to spend time with our Love ones. It can be really simple... and as japanese people we love good chocolate. 💗 We just appreciate that we are important in someone’s life
This was adorable. I love the double Valentine's tradition in Japan... Told my mom about it and she said "Oh nice double date nights then." We had a non commercial Valentine's tonight at my parent's house. I got a gingerbread cookie candle (smells so good.... omg) and we had a nice lasagna dinner with wine/craft beer. Dad bought Mom flowers and Mom got Dad a small car safety gadget (it's for if you flip your car, they travel for work a lot).
From the ingredients and the description, the chocolate cake sounds very similar to Alice's Medrich's "New Classic Brownies" but without flour. The trick to getting the dual layer texture is to dip the the cake (in the pan still of course!) in an ice bath right after you pull it out of the oven. This makes a crispy shell form around a gooey/fudgy center.

Most women here in Japan feel really frustrated by Valentine's Day, because of all the money we spend on giri chocolate :( But, my husband doesn't like chocolate, so today, when his coworkers give him that sweet nectar of life and happiness, I get to enjoy ALL OF IT MYSELF. I love this country.
