This video is to demonstrate how to configure YUM repository in Redhat enterprise linux server 7. A step by step procedure of creating local repository and using ftp from remote server.
i have created a filsystem /dev/sda4 and this is the 4rth partition with ext3 type. but after creating this partition, O.S has not recognized and rebooted the o.s then. After that O.S can see /dev/sda4 partition . why it forced me to reboot ? without rebooting why O.S did not recognize my partition /dev/sda4 ? even i have written the partition to disk using 'w' option and then partprobe /dev/sda4 .How to use a new partition in RHEL6 without reboot?
hostnamectl command not working in RHEL6.2 , NEED u r help , how to install this command in RHEL 6.2 ? Even some more commands like 'which', 'whereis', 'type' commands are not working. kindly guide me ,how to install these commands ?
hostnamectl is systemd base command introduce in RHEL7. You You can use alternate command #lsb_release -a or #cat /etc/redhat-release which, whereis is build in linux command and they must work in rhel6 as well. If you are unable to run type command, use instead #file
In RHEL6 you can create root file system in LVM. Only /boot is not supported. Now if you have created as partition you won't be able to extend it. Hence suggest you to reinstall the OS and format the root FS is LVM.
hi..my linux is installed in vmware workstation.my partition in var/ size is 3.2G.now i want to extend that partition size.how can do this .anyone help me?
I hope you are using fdisk command not parted. Once you create partition you would need to run just #partprobe command. Information about your partition can be find under cat /proc/partition location without reboot. Again I would recommend you use LVM instead RAW partition.
partprobe resulted in rebooting. the o.s did not recognized the partition using partprobe. hence i used partx command which worked for me. #partx -v -a /dev/sda4
Assuming that the repository server has access to the Internet, we will pull an online repository to get the latest updates of packages. we will choose a mirror from a location near us.
+cpsp documents We can't for Rhel. Red hat is enterprise version and to get the update from rhn or rhsm you need at least classic subscriptions. Other way to subscribe is to have proxy satellite server and that is paid too. Your assumption is right with centos but can't use this in RHEL. Hope answered your question. Thank you.
i have redhat Linux 6 installed on VMware Workstation, How to connect Internet to VMWARE, So that i can access internet within the VMWare ? How to install RHEL6 ISO IMAGE RHEL Desktop, when my RHEL is running in Vmware Workstation ?
Change the network adapter setting to NAT in Vmware workstation to access internet. The other question I didn't get it. Are you trying to install RHEL in you desktop using ISO image?
by default adapter setting is NAT only. my other question is, i installed ISO image of RHEL on vmware workstation , right. i have a copy of the rhel iso image on my host operating system, that is windows 7. how to share this iso image into vmware guest operating system desktop ,that is RHEL Guest operating system.?
