Progressives have been under the boot ever since Fred Hampton was murdered, ever since the war on drugs was started to attack leftists and blacks, ever since all the countless instances when a cop opened fire due to nothing but misplaced fear for their own life when the suspect only had a phone, etc. Cops care nothing for you, and only care about themselves, their next paycheck, and going home to beat their wife and kids (statistically pretty common). Yes, they did a grave disservice to the law enforcement community. How would these bums ever be able to acknowledge their presence that day without being shunned and ostracized. No matter how this thing shakes out, those at issue will hide from their involvement until the day they die. Can you imagine the horrific damage they've done to their own families? Those families may continue to love and accept said individuals, but they will forever be ashamed and embarrassed by them. The unmitigated cowardice and wanton disregard for innocent life demonstrated at Uvalde will be a black stain on them for generations to come. One wonders if perhaps the ancient punishment of binding one's hands behind the back, mounting one backwards on a donkey and loosing the donkey into the desert might not be the best thing for all involved. For what they've done banishment would be a supreme mercy. At any rate, I bet there will be a gap in their resume. When asked about it they will go to any length to avoid acknowledging that they were ever employed by an agency present at Uvalde that day. They are "branded" for life! I don't expect many decent persons will ever look them in the eye again.

My mother is a police officer and the DA or county attorney or whatever always makes sure she gets any case related to domestic abuse, if a stalker even slightly goes in to her jurisdiction he ensures she gets the case. Before her, three women who came forward about domestic abuse were ignored and they wound up murdered by their abusers in just three years. One of said abusers was a retired police officer who repeated told her he knew exactly how to make it look like an accidental drug overdose... He had three ex girlfriends who died of drug overdoses. The last woman we only know for a fact was murder because he shot her in the face. Also seems like it's true that bad things come in threes. Aggressive people are drawn towards roles where they have power over others. There is a reason police officers are the most likely out of all other professions in the United States to be abusive, with 40% of families coming forward reporting abuse. And that's just the percentage of people who felt safe enough to report. The majority of abuse victims don't report because they believe the police will do nothing, so imagine how unlikely they'd be to report that their spouse or parent is abusive to their co-workers that trust them implicitly.

Let's not overgeneralize. Many cops do their jobs well and some not so much.

The police are tough when they believe they are dealing with powerless people who are afraid of them. They fear criminals. They cannot justify their existence or their pay. Oinkers start out as kids who are afraid to sit on the toilet at school, so they crap in the urinal. It's all downhill from there.

Yep, just one more ripoff of the taxpayer. Every cop present that day received pay for active shooter training. These guys rack up compensation for every minute spent in training. Then they get their pictures in the paper for having completed that training. Next they use the 'professional qualifications" gained at taxpayer expense to enhance their pay scale. The cops in Uvalde, Texas, aren't just weasely cowards, they're thieves as well. The least they should be held accountable for is restitution for their larceny. The taxpayers of that community are due a full refund with interest.

Training doesn't do any good if they don't adhere to it, though. The Uvalde PD literally had active shooter training at Robb Elementary a couple months prior to the shooting. They were trained. They just didn't listen to it.

The job is mostly making reports. Once driving in a friends car when a shooting must have happened, dozen police cars were racing somewhere - at the same moment my friend randomly got pulled over for blowing a stop light out of nowhere. We were a mile away from the last stop light driving though a residential neighborhood, he didn't do a thing wrong, the officer wasn't even around to witness him drive though the light. Issued a ticket with some errors on it, friend showed up in court to contest - officer no show so he won by default. We are both 10,000% convinced that he was pulled over and given a random ticket so the officer did not have to go respond to the shooting. I firmly believe that the roll of police officer needs to be broken up, if the only officers that have guns are the specialty ones called in when guns are needed - they are more likely to do their job right - and less likely to want to give out a random ticket as excuse not to go!

He was frightened of a lawsuit, hence his refusal to shoot. He didn't have the equipment to ensure a guaranteed shot, and if his missed bullet had hit a kid, he would be in deep shit. He was worried about his personal liability.

If you CHOOSE to be unarmed when the facts are obvious, that is YOUR fault. Cops don't shoot at people that can return fire.

and you base that on the cop that shot the teenager in the charging room in LA being punished. What punishment did he get?

@@John_Smith_86 the kids and staff where all in the school. The shooter was outside. I agree that he was worried about his personal liability more than those kids and staff in the school. Now he has to live with the blood of 21 innocent lives on his hands. Better to be sued or lose your job IMHO

Cops said if any of the kids needed help to call out for help. A girl yelled help giving away her position. The shooter then shot her and some police broke out into laughter. You can see one of them laugh on the surveillance video. Body cam video showing that wasn't released.
